anavar, a popular choice amongst female athletes! . as a compound, due its 'mild' nature, it is often a preferred option for females when looking at utilising PEDs. anavar is well tolerated by most females, and when cycles are designed with suitable dosages and monitored timelines, we are able to mitigate the risk of negative side effects such as viralisation with correct management. . so where does testosterone come into this? . in laymans terms..... . when consumed, anavar combines with androgen receptors in the body to create an anabolic environment in which protein synthesis is stimulated and can encourage muscle growth. . whilst this happens, the body recognises a hormonal shift and adjusts itself accordingly to accommodate for this. . as the androgenic effect mimics an environment of higher testosterone, the body in response can start to reduce the production of endogenous (natural) testosterone. . whilst testosterone is more commonly associated with males, in females it also plays many vital roles. . the menstrual cycle and fertility, muscle and bone health, mood, and libido, amongst a plethora of other mechanisms in the body, are all reliant on testosterone in order to maintain normal function. a decrease in endogenous testosterone can have implications on all of these. . it is vital when using these compounds we take measures to monitor and make informed decisions through blood work and if required, supplementation, to ensure testosterone levels remain within a range to support essential bodily functions. . whilst considered mild in comparison to other steroids, anavar still has potential hormonal and health implications we must be mindful of when planning usage over periods of time. . as a coach, i am an advocate of PEDs when necessary in female bodybuilding, but as an athlete make sure you are aware of all considerations before taking your journey to that level. this is just one of many.
