I see people doing way too much in their workouts‼️ . There’s one guy share with me about his Chest routine and saying that his chest is not growing even after months of training. . From what he shared to me is 10 different types of exercises with 4 sets each for 10 - 12 reps. That’s a total of 40 sets in one routine. 🤯 . I was shocked to see that much amount of exercise and some of them are targeting the same part of the Chest that look like this: . DB Bench Press x 4 sets of 10 - 12 reps BB Bench Press x 4 sets of 10 - 12 reps SM Bench Press x 4 sets of 10 - 12 reps Machine Chest Press x 4 sets of 10 - 12 reps . I don’t know where he gets the idea of doing this routine and I told him this is WAY TOO MUCH and WASTING too much TIME doing such amount of volume. . He curiously asked “Huh? Are you sure??? More exercise means more growth isn’t it?” . The answer is no. More doesn’t mean better. Focus on the QUALITY versus quantity and you’ll see growth. . By all means you only need 3 - 5 exercises is already sufficient to see progress. . You don’t need all of that. Just stick to the basics, be intentional, train hard close to failure and apply progressive overload. You’ll be just fine 💪🏻😉 . Whether you enjoy casual exercise, are in the gym every day, or compete in regular matches or events, it’s good to understand the effects alcohol can have on your performance and fitness. If you have a higher alcohol intake on 1-2 days during the holidays, that won't make-or-break your fitness. But as you can imagine, drinking high doses of alcohol on a regular basis is not beneficial to your fitness. A 2014 study found that an alcohol intake of 1.5 grams per kg of body weight after training impairs muscle protein synthesis (the process through which muscles recover and grow) in physically active males. A 2013 study on well-trained rugby players found that relatively high alcohol consumption (1g/kg of body weight) can also have negative effects on peak power and cognitive recovery the morning after a rugby league match. So, even though it may sound cliché, moderation in alcohol intake is important for maximizing muscle growth and recovery. A review paper suggests that drinking low doses of alcohol, approximately 0.5g/kg of body weight, is unlikely to be detrimental to your training.
