Week 2 day 1 complete! The workout plan I am currently doing is targeted to upper cross (check out my posts on upper cross syndrome to find out what upper cross is). This plan is 3 weeks long and very targeted to the muscles that are effected with upper cross. After this targeted workout I will move into better incorporate these exercises into my warmups and daily activities. I find that as a hyper mobile individual that without targeted workouts mixed into my routines I am very susceptible to muscle imbalances. This is what an usual upper body day looks like for me. Starting with my biggest weakness which is the front deltoids and upper chest. Did 4 sets of 6-7 with 70-75kg on an incline bench press. Then a vertical pull (pull downs 4x10-12), vertical push (dumbbell ohp up to 25kg for 12) and a horizontal pull( close grip machine row 3x10-15). Curls supersetted with overhead extentions (3sets). Rear delt flys and lateral raises for 4 sets each to finish the day. #getit #upperbodyworkout

Trainer tip Tuesday! 💡 ‼️Pain in your neck with overhead exercises? Or feel like your traps take over a lot and is constantly tight? ➡️ try these neck friendly upper body exercises! Generally, muscles are stronger when they are longer and generate less force when they are shorter 👉🏼with all of the exercises shown, you’re loading the muscle most when it’s longest, which means you can efficiently load the muscles with less strain on your joints! The muscle can more easily resist the load when it’s longer, which in turn means that you are less likely to compensate or place any strain on the joint tissue when adding load in its lengthened position. The narrow press can be a great neck friendly shoulder option, because although the hardest part of the movement is at the starting position, when the arm is fully lengthened, the delts are on fire and working, and the neck and shoulders are in a much more comfortable position compared to a standing shoulder press which may start to call on the traps to take over Other upper body exercises are not bad or wrong by any means, but if you need a joint friendly option that’s just as effective, these exercises may be good swaps to ensure the safety of your neck and shoulders 👌🏼 On goodbodyapp we always provide modifications/success options to meet the needs of all fitness levels, and we’re excited to be incorporating some more joint friendly exercises in the very near future 😉 ✅SAVE FOR LATER! Floor Bench with hip drive: Hip drive is important for explosive power throughout your upper and lower body. 2. Had a great back day! Rotated in some movements that I love and haven’t used in a good while. Definitely looking forward to progressing on these for a bit. The first one being banded dumbbell pullovers. Normally you’ll see me do pullovers using a cable but I really enjoy this dumbbell variation as well. I suggest using a red mini band or a monster mini band so the tension from the band is moderate and not too heavy. I also added in the iso low row machine. This is one of my favorite movements for back. I prefer doing these standing up because I can brace myself better into the pad and if I’m sitting I don’t feel as good of a contraction in my upper back. I followed this movement with overhand seated cable rows, which I’ve rotated in and out of my training for years now. Lastly I finished off with lat pulldowns using the black widow attachment which is a great piece for anyone who hasn’t used it! I tried to stay a bit more upright on these to make it more lat bias instead of upper back bias. Listed below is the whole session in order! It’s funny because people often tell me that they wish they had my motivation, or they have an opinion that I am a confident person. But am I always motivated? No. Do I lack in confidence? Yes! Despite being more consistent with the gym over the last couple of months, the last few days I have been battling with my head and the gym anxiety has creeped in. But after speaking to my amazing coaches and the incredible level up ladies, I got myself to the gym for my first workout of the week and I feel great and so proud of myself! Although it may look like I am ‘smashing’ it, it is hard work! And it takes discipline!
