The power of lighting❤️‍🔥 (and no i haven’t edited either photo and I haven’t used filters) They’re taken a few seconds apart and as you can see my physique hasn’t changed.. it’s literally just the lighting and a slightly different pose. Friendly reminder that things like lighting, poses and angles can (and do) have a huge impact on the way our bodies look. Most of us will pick the most “flattering” lighting and angles for our instagram posts - but none of us look like that all the time. Many people have stretch marks, even if you don’t always see it on here. It doesn’t mean you’re “fat” or unhealthy, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of Just something to bear in mind if you find yourself scrolling and comparing yourself, even I as a “fitness influencer” (whatever THAT means🤢) have stretch marks. ❓MYTH OR FACT ❓ 🤔Willpower is a limited resource. . 🙈 . 🙉 . 🙊 🔥IT DEPENDS 🔥 🧠🔬New research shows that the answer is all in YOUR mindset. If you think you only have a limited amount of willpower, you are right. And if you think you have plenty of it, you’re also right. Here’s a little background: back in the 1990s, scientists came up with a theory called “ego depletion,” which basically suggested that willpower is a limited resource. 👉They thought that if you were tired or stressed, you were more likely to run out of willpower. BUT… new research suggests that may only apply if you believe it. 🔥The good news is that now you can take back control (and personal responsibility!) over your actions — and stop relying on willpower to see you through. One way to do that: the next time you feel like you don’t have willpower, switch into PROBLEM-SOLVING MODE. ❓Ask yourself: Why do you feel like your willpower is slipping? Running From Milngavie to Drymen 🏃‍♀️⛰️ How did I do it ? I've not been a runner for long, honestly. Rougly speaking, I started last January doing 20-30 mins every Friday in Pollok Park, slowly building from there. 3 weeks ago, I did my first trail run - Arrochar to Inveruglas on the Three Lochs Way Trail. This was followed by Milngavie to Dumgoyne with my pal Claire. And now, this week back on the west highland way (solo) to push past Dumgoyne to Drymen/Balmaha. Realistically, how have I managed to push myself to hit these trails & longer runs ? 🏃‍♀️ Easing in. Not running full pelt. Taking my time, checking my heart rate (slowing down if it gets quite high). Walking after a few minutes of running. 🏃‍♀️ Consistency. Getting out every week come rain or shine. Not wanting to sound like a Nike Advert, but just doing it! Count down from 3 & get out of your house! Go. Don't hesitate. 🏃‍♀️ Strength Training 💯 🏋‍♀️ I can not stress this enough. Had I not been consistently training with weights, I'm not sure how well this would have gone. My risk of injury & pain would be WAY higher. I would not advise running without strength training, honestly. I'll go into more detail RE specific exercises in another post. 🏃‍♀️ Mentally Challenging myself. Not listening too much to those negative thoughts. Not giving in to doubt or any other reason to not do it. This can often be the hardest bit. Take one step at a time. Try to also think about how it will feel to NOT do the thing, whether its a run or anything else you know you'd like to try. Even if my run had been way shorter or it had rained, I would've still felt so good for knowing I tried.
