I wasn’t going to top my peppers this year, but the slugs seem to have done it for me. For a couple of days now I’ve seen slug trails in the poly tunnel, but for the life of me couldn’t find the culprit…until now! I found six of them all huddled together underneath a big pot I have at the end of the tunnel. UPDATE! The plants I accidentally baked in my greenhouse look to have all survived. Some are a little less aesthetically pleasing, missing leaves, maybe a little crunchy in spots, but they are alive. The green color seems to be coming back at least in the younger leaves of the squash and melons. What I learned is to be diligent about venting the greenhouse if it’s going to be a sunny day. Not just a hot one. I did not realize it could get to 125 degrees by 10am with outdoor temperatures in the 60s. Getting them cooled and watered quickly I think was the key to saving them. As well as catching it soon enough. Hopefully everything will recover fully once they are planted in the ground and given a month to get some new growth back on them. Hopefully they are not dramatically stunted for their future growth. 🌱とう立ち玉ねぎ、み〜っけ！ 夏にペコロスを植え付けて、 4本位に分球したのを改めて植え付けたやつです。 普通の苗より太めだったので、 何割かとう立ちの予想をしていましたが (最悪全部とう立ちするかなと…笑) 思ったよりも玉ねぎに仕上がりそうです。 2割くらいは花芽がついたかな？ もう全部食べちゃった。笑 🌱残りは玉ねぎになりそうなので、肥大を見守っています。 手前半分は購入苗、奥の半分はなんちゃって苗です。 母の日だったので、義母の好きなフルーツケーキを手土産に 先週末は子ども達を連れて遊びに行ってきました。 前回行ったときに葉玉ねぎを差し上げたので、 何を作ったのか気になっていたんです。 やはり早速お好み焼きに大量に入れて食べたとのこと。 オススメの味噌汁も作ったけど、 餃子にするほど残らなかったわ〜残念！だそうです。 だいぶ喜んでもらったようで良かった☺️ とう立ち玉ねぎも早めに引っこ抜けば 花芽も柔らかくて丸っと食べられますね。 葉っぱも青々として大好評でした🤩 近所では産直コーナーに葉玉ねぎが大量に出るくらい 葉玉ねぎ需要が高いんですよ。 酢味噌和えがメジャーらしいですが、 大人向けの味だと思うので食卓に出したことはありません。 🌱昨日の強風でエンドウ🫛の支柱が斜めになってしまいました💦 そのまま支柱を使い回そうと思ってたけど、 お片付けした方がいいかな。 今年は花の咲く時期があっという間に終わってしまいました。 肥料？土？品種？連作障害？？ ぱっと終わってしまい、線香花火のような気分です。 🌱サンチュが山盛り採れます。 株ごと収穫したら、茎の近くから1センチ位の昆虫が 4匹くらいワラワラ出てきて焦りました😇 義母にもお裾分けしてるんですが、 虫が大大大嫌いな方なので 念入りに確認してから持って行きます🤣 🌱畑と関係ないんですが、チョコミント大好きです🥰 お気に入りを見つけても取り扱いがすぐになくなるので もっぱらシャトレーゼを愛用してるんですが ガリガリくんの新作がすごく美味しかった😁❣️ ちなみに週一で袋買いしてるせいか 近所のシャトレーゼにチョコミントの種類が 1→3に増えました。笑 布教の結果(1人で美味しく食べてただけ)、 子ども達3人をチョコミント教に入れることに成功しました🤣 なお、主人は食べられません。笑 #家庭菜園 #家庭菜園記録 #家庭菜園女子 #家庭菜園好きな人と繋がりたい #野菜 #畑 #畑仕事 #野菜づくり #自家栽培 #自家栽培野菜 #畑のある暮らし #ベジスタグラム #vegetablegarden #vegetables #garden #veggies #veggie #veggiegarden

Gardening has really quietened down with it being Autumn 🍂 I've been doing bits and pieces out there sporadically, including a big tidy up and refresh of the soil with sheep pallets and compost, taking out the last of the veggies, harvesting all the potatoes, planting spring bulbs (which I am soooo excited about), saving a couple lots of flower seeds and putting in two new corrugated metal garden beds next to the green house! Here's some random garden updates from the past month or so 👩🌾 1 - my tulips are in! I really hope these take off and do what their meant to. I've got 90 bulbs in this half of the bed. I want them to look a bit random and organic vs neat in rows. I've got lots of different colours and kinds including peony, fringed and the classic style 🌷 I also want them to look 'full' in their bed so 🤞 I haven't planted them too close to one another. 2 - my first lot of daffodils are sprouting 🥳 3 - more daffodils! This time I've planted some white ones 🤍 4 - I had to plant a couple more packets of ranunculus because either rats or birds ate 14/20 of my corms 🐀🐦 5 - I got all these sunflower seeds from one flower head 👏 I'll be sorted this summer for sunflower seeds for sure 🌻 6 - how pretty do the teeny tiny stars look on a cosmos?! 🌸🌟 I managed to save about 30 seeds from this plant for next summer. 7 - peep the bumble bee bum on my petunia 🐝 somehow this petunia is still thriving (not complaining 💜) 8 - we got a good douse of rain which was needed for the garden and the water tank 💧 9 - slowly (and not so patiently) waiting for my luffas to dry out on the vine. Some quick plant updates: Put all my cucumbers in the ground Added two tomatoes and two peppers my mom gave me to the garden bed Added all my tiny basil sprouts to a big pot to see if they will do the thing Mint is minting Last year's parsley is still kicking but looks like it will go to seed, which I guess it has earned by this point. Still need to take care of my bulbs (leaves are still doing things), transplant all my lil tomato seeds and take care of my poblanos and okra.
