I don’t have a lot of room to start most of my herbs inside. So that is one thing I tend to buy most of when I’m about to plant. I did get a great deal on damage bags of soil at Rona. ☕️ Morning latte with lilac infused raw milk and a drizzle of raw honey 😊 I spent some more time in the garden early morning yesterday gathering lilacs from the bushes which are a different color than the lilacs from the trees. These are a pretty light purple color. I infused the milk with lilac flowers for 24 hours and was so excited to make a latte this morning. The lilacs add just a touch of a beautiful and delicate floral flavor. The entire house smells like a lilac forest and it makes me so happy 💜 #coffee #latte #lilac #goodmorning

Cornflower. This is a perennial Cornflower that grows happily around my garden. The Cornflower has many health benefits. It is a diuretic, aids digestion and is an anti-inflammatory. It can also be used to aid a good nights sleep. The Cornflower's main uses are to cure eye ailments. As herbalists, we look at the appearance of the plant to have an idea of the part of the human body that the plant was created to treat. In herbalism, we call this The Doctrine of Signatures. If you look at the appearance of the flower, you can see its resemblance to an eye. Cornflower can be used to treat conjunctivitis, puffy eyes and dark circles and can be given to anyone suffering with weak eye conditions. Magically and spiritually the plant again works with the eyes. But in this case, the Cornflower can cleanse and enhance the third eye. The coral bells are blooming in my yard right now, and they are one of the most diminutive, sweet, elegant and fairy like surprises of the year. I saw them last year on the native plant tour, and immediately went out and found some. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think planting natives, especially ones that touch your heart and give you the same joy that they give bees and butterflies, is one of the things that we gardeners must do more of in these times. I wasn’t interested in native plant gardening until I started going on native plant tours— everything I thought of when I thought of “natives” was spiky and deserty and felt like the kind of thing that I should like, but didn’t. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mostly, I plant keystone species, those ones that are epicenters of food and nourishment and safety for a high concentration of animal and insect species in my ecosystem. At the Homestead... I am so proud of this Man! Little by Little, as his disabilities allow, he has been building this Chicken Coop with peaked roof(thanks for the roof plan, Ernie!), and porch! I cannot wait to get out there to paint it, hang lights and flower baskets, and sit out there with him.🩷 Snuggle times with Eva(who is expecting her one and only litter of bebehs-she will be spayed afterwards), and making Usnea tincture from lichen Kev collected at Ernie and Kati's camp last weekend, as well as Homemade Pine Sol made with pine needles and vinegar. In the process of potting up the rest of my Jalapeños, Tomatoes, and Tomatillos, and I ran out of red solo cups...I have an estimated 95 tomato plants left to pot up, and 35 purple Tomatillo plants. I have 11 or 12 different varieties of Tomatoes, and will be selling extras for $2 each in a couple of weeks, if interested! And Lochlan is SOOOO happy to have his water table out, and to snuggle with Miss Hecate.🩷🩷🩷 Kevin has it in his vision next, to build us a roadside Farmstand, where we can sell eggs, seed starts, Homemade goods, and Artisan Dragon apothecary products. Giardini medievali come ispirazione per il giardino della strega 🌿 I giardini medievali influenzarono lo sviluppo dei giardini delle streghe, anche se originariamente questi giardini erano allestiti all’interno dei monasteri, dove monaci e suore lavoravano la terra e coltivavano piante dalle proprietà medicamentose, accumulando molte conoscenze botaniche. 🪴Nei giardini medievali dell’epoca, ogni zona era rigorosamente curata e aveva una funzione specifica, all’interno vi si trovava: * piante tintorie e magiche, usate per curare i malati, creare pozioni o tinture; * piante “semplici”, ossia quelle piante medicinali più comuni del tempo utili a trattare vari disturbi; * piante aromatiche e da giardino, utilizzate esclusivamente in cucina; * piante sacre per ornare cappelle e oratori. Due personaggi influenti del tempo furono Fiacrio(diventato patrono dei giardinieri) e Ildegarda di Bingen (famosa monaca guaritrice tedesca).
