Did you know that ANTIBIOTICS are linked to an increase in anxiety and depression???  I recently heard that following ONE course of antibiotics, your rate of depression and anxiety increases and can last months! You know me… I dove into research… It’s true. Ugh! (See link in comments to published medical research). Your girl just had surgery on my finger and has been struggling mentally and my anxiety has been 10/10 since Monday. Can anyone relate to this? You may often say- Food is my love language. But sometimes it feels like it’s controlling you? Do you use food as copying mechanism to deal with stress, boredom and anxiety? You wouldn’t call your car addicted to gasoline, would you? We crave food because it’s the lifeblood that keeps this amazing machine we call a body running. We all need food to survive but it’s not numbing mechanism, punishment or a reward. It’s your body’s need. Even though we need food, it can be easy to get stuck in unhealthy eating patterns. Maybe certain foods feel super comforting, or maybe you crave them to manage stress. That’s where the “addiction” feeling can creep in. We might not be addicted to the taste of pizza or the comforting warmth of cookies, but our bodies are definitely hooked on the act of eating. Chicken Curry with Onion Salad and Mango Chutney As always, I ensure that everything I eat is AIP compliant, leaving no room for compromise. For the curry, I began by sautéing garlic, onions, tarragon, curry leaves, and ginger in olive oil. Adding a splash of water, along with salt, dried mixed herbs, and turmeric, I let the flavours meld before introducing the chicken to the pan. Once the meat was nicely browned, I covered it with water and added my prepared cassava. Once cooked, I served the curry with cauliflower rice, alongside homemade mango chutney and a fresh onion salad. Anything can be healed. But it takes effort and commitment on every fibre of your being. It takes a holistic approach. Addressing the physical, mental, emotional and energetic components. And the hardest part - they are all interlinked with one another. An important lesson I have learned over these last 7 years is that so much of our health comes from our gut. The gut is sending information to the brain all the time. If the gut is out-of-balance then so will the mental and emotional health of the person. We can’t address one without the other. All elements must be addressed. It’s about finding that willpower that lives within us to light the healing flame. I know chronic fatigue can hit you like a tonne of bricks. But we still have that willpower within us. Maybe if I can take one small step each day towards creating better health, that will be all it needs to get things moving in the right direction. It’s not going to happen over night. If I can accept this, I can begin to make positive change happen. It’s who I am and what I do in this day, in this moment, that is the most important. I can’t control the future. I can’t change the past. All I can do is make the most of this moment. Diversity is key to building a strong gut microbiome. The latest estimation is that we need to consume roughly 30 different vegetables and fruits per week to support a strong microbiome. Sounds like a lot, but if you break it down into days of the week and include things like spices, herbs, coffee & wine it's really not that hard to achieve, per day. Now, this will not be news to all of you, in that case, bravo! You are tapped into the path of supporting your gut. The issue you may come upon is sourcing all these various foods, and this is where I would urge you to invest in a weekly farm box delivery or farmers market. Eating along with the seasons naturally results in diversity of diet. Less so in your regular supermarket where the same produce is found all year around and buying a diverse amount of foods can feel limited and even uninspiring (I know when I step into a regular supermarket I immediately feel unmotivated by the lack of variety). Last but not least, when we buy seasonal we also automatically eat food that fuels us (and our microbiome) according to the energy we need during that specific season! Summer - cooling & hydrating / winter - warming & deeply nourishing / spring - cleansing and energizing / Autumn - fortifying and bols #eatclean Plus we reduce our carbon footprint and support local agriculture, small farmers who work at preserving the soil and food diversity. Part 2: In 2021, I felt strong enough in my own healing to begin helping others with @medicalmedium information. I wanted to help in meaningful ways, so I limited myself to no more than 2-3 people at a time. It was a great set-up. That way, at least I could start to give back from home. I was able to create treatment plans and more as I encouraged they learn the material for themselves. In the meantime, I aimed to empower, teach and guide. I would direct them to specific MM wisdom to answer their questions, challenge them, attempt to annihilate doubts and address concerns. It meant everything for my own healing to able to be of actual use to someone else. When they loved to hate me in the process, I felt I was doing something right. I was jumping for joy when I first read the Eating Disorders chapter of Brain Saver. It’s lengthy but not a single word is wasted! It’s filled to the brim with wisdom that could only come from Above. My first clinical exposure to severe eating disorders was in my early twenties. While fascinated by them, I was equally horrified and overflowing with compassion for those suffering. My awareness of Karen Carpenter’s devastating plight when I was young crushed me. For as long as I can remember, I had felt completely aligned with her. Undeniably, her illness overlapped with my own tortuous battle with body dysmorphia that began when I was in Kindergarten. The immense shame I fought to keep hidden and suppressed throughout each and every day led me to see my innermost reflection in her. It’s no wonder I initially experienced resistance to anything near this subject matter that illuminated my secret battle and intensified my shame. In retrospect, perhaps the configuration of my metals, or the fingerprint of my OC spectrum illness was uniquely suited to simultaneously fuel my body dysmorphia yet paradoxically protect me from a similar tragic outcome. Without having been militantly applying Medical Medium information for years, I would not be here now or able to share this part of myself. That is what this wisdom has already gifted me: the ability to be reborn as the woman who can save myself as a little girl.

Save this recipe to make for your Mother's Day weekend (or give to your family so they can make it for YOU, special momma❤) This dark chocolate mousse recipe uses simple, whole food ingredients that makes the perfect texture and level of sweetness🍫 1 serving packs in 11g fiber, is naturally sweetened by the dates and offers a healthy serving of vitamin A, C, calcium and iron. Your dessert CAN double as being absolutely delicious AND nutrient dense -- it doesn't have to be either or 😍 Serves: 4 Ingredients: 2 avocado (ripe) 8 pitted dates, soaked in hot water for 15 minutes 1/2 cup raw cacao powder 1/2 cup organic or raw milk (unsweetened non-dairy milk works too) Pinch of salt optional Directions: Soak dates in hot water for 15 minutes, then drain/discard water and add avocado, soaked dates, cacao, milk and salt to a food processor. Blend until completely smooth. Spoon evenly into 4 glass jars, cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until set. Top with your favorite ingredients -- I love whipping up heavy whipping cream to dollop a spoon full on top of mousse with a couple fresh raspberries and or shaved chocolate. Serve and enjoy!

Honest question: Why is eating junk food so common that as soon as someone has vegetables on their plate we automatically assume they are DIETING?! "just get the burger" "come on fries won't kill you" "why are you getting salad?" "are you on a diet.. again?" "oh, you're dieting, now we can't have any fun!" I'm likely preaching to the choir but this has to stop! So many clients tell me how they feel interrogated for eating veggies... I know they're not alone in this. I even dealt with this for years when I started cleaning up my diet and lifestyle in pursuit to lose weight sustainably. I'm hopeful that with a collective effort, we can stop these comments, and the thoughts that perpetuate because of our current societal norms. We need a culture shift around food, friends. Here's what I mean... Eat the burger with the bun if you really want it when it's fresh baked vs an over-processed flavorless bun that doesn't mold for a month, or longer. Enjoy the donut when you really want it and it's your favorite one from the best bakery; not just because "it was the last one in the break room". Go out to ice cream with family and order a small. Focus more on the memories than the size of ice cream you order. These are all wonderful things that I advocate for. What your body needs EVERY DAY though is VEGETABLES. I love to teach my clients how to use vegetables as a building block for weight loss, restoring their health, and living their most vibrant lives. Veggies can be your best friend in weight loss, but it doesn't mean that you can't get down with a burger. It's not all or nothing. You don't eat veggies to lose weight though and you don't stop eating them once you've lost weight. Veggies are not a diet food, your body NEEDS THEM. A shift in mindset needs to happen from veggies being a diet food to them being a priority for you because you know they give you the vitamins, minerals, and fiber that your body needs to thrive and be well.
