Finally finished something to celebrate the double cicada brood this year and also express my horror at the psychedelic death cicadas out courting. It's pretty gross, look it up! It's been a week. Someone broke into our basement and stole a bunch of our stuff. At first I thought they only stole my craft supplies and was peeved because this included stuff my friends got me that I can't get again easily but they also got some cheap music equipment, some of my partner's MTG cards in a box, and unfortunately... Basically all my winter clothes and sentimental clothing items. Sweaters knitted for me by friends, stuff I got on tour, novelty ties, thrifting finds, my expensive TUK creepers, leather boots a friend I've long since lost contact got me, band shirts from happier days. A lot of memories from happier days, all stolen from me. To say I'm depressed about it would be an understatement. And before you victim-blame me for putting anything in even a locked unit in Berlin, let me say that other people were storing even televisions and nice bikes with fairly flimsy locks down there for years. It would be hard to carry this out without people seeing you and impossible without the help of someone who lives in the building. So that's just great. I feel extremely violated and I didn't even know I had anything left to violate. Falso bicho-pau, Taquarinha, Mané-magro, gafanhoto galho/ Proscopiidae Macho de 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙖 (Burmeister, 1880) Ele é um gafanhoto da família Proscopiidae muito marcante, principalmente pelo tamanho do fastígio (ver na próxima foto). O fastígio desse falso bicho-pau é duas vezes maior que o cumprimento da cabeça. Ele também possui um corpo muito alongado, com placa subgenital muito longa, primeiro e segundo par de pernas quase tão longos quanto a terceira...ou seja, isso da uma camuflada nas pernas saltatórias. Let’s talk about framing and why it shouldn’t be an afterthought. 🖼️ This is perhaps my favorite frame job of all time. The curve of this gorgeous molding mimics the shape of the beetle, its cool (custom) metallic finish compliments the greens in the piece and the drawing’s tiny size is emphasized by a heavy mat.
