The highlight of our Spring garden has definitely been the Lunaria 💜 Usually it would be tulips but they haven’t been great this year 😔 I completely forgot I planted the Lunaria last year (easily grown from seed) so it was a nice surprise when it started flowering. I totally underestimated how big they can get + how many flowers. They’re now developing the beautiful seed pods they’re best known for 😍 Once mature they go a stunning silver/mother of pearl colour with a papery texture and make for great indoor decorations! Its sooooo nice to finally look out from the top of the hill and see green grass again. Im also becoming envious of my neighbours paddocks! Ive always wanted to see the aurora and have been joking for the past 6 months that 'we might be able to see the aurora tonight' so imagine my suprise when I walked outside last night and there it was! The Aurora Australis! After it died down I figured out how to take photos of it but at the start I could see it clearly, including the pillars. I then woke up every 2 hours to check but it never came back, I just managed to be outside at the perfect time.

I started some parsnip seeds in toilet rolls some weeks ago, but after germinating I put them outside and they haven’t done very much since, I guess because of the cold and wet weather we’ve been having. This weeks has been glorious with lots of sunshine and warmth and I’ve planted them out now in my vegetable garden. Where I direct sowed some parsnips and radishes, the radishes have started popping up. Hopefully the parsnips will follow in the next couple of weeks. After planting my toilet roll parsnips, I went out a couple of hours later and one had been dug up! Te z cienkich desek albo metalowe mniej trzymają wilgoć, ziemia łatwiej się nagrzewa. Bilans i tak wypada korzystnie. Dziś tworząc nowy warzywnik od razu postawiłabym grządki podwyższone, choć u nas powstały z konieczności (wylewka betonowa pod ziemią). Z roku na rok coraz bardziej zakochuję się w podwyższonych grządkach, choć rozwiązanie to pojawiło się w naszym ogrodzie tylko z jednego powodu: w miejscu, gdzie miał być warzywnik odkryliśmy niemożliwą do usunięcia wylewkę betonową. Nie chcieliśmy rezygnować z warzywnika, dlatego ustawiliśmy skrzynie. A potem kolejne w innym miejscu i jeszcze dwa zestawy na tarasach. Te skrzynie to: • możlwiość uprawy warzyw tam, gdzie nie byłoby to możliwe, np na piasku, czy tak jak u nas - na tarasie czy betonie • wygodna obsługa, ale im skrzynia niższa, tym kręgosłup mniej odpoczywa • cieplejsza ziemia, bo szybciej się nagrzewa, uprawy można zacząć chwilę wcześniej • mniej chwastów, w skrzyniach jakoś mniej chętnie rosną :) Jutro napiszę, jakie widzę minusy uprawy w skrzyniach, a Wy dajcie znać, czy lubicie skrzynie? Beans He has been growing all types of beans! He is responsible for them himself, watering and checking them. He is pleased one has flowers. As if my magic, our little veg plot has lots of growth! 2 hyacinth dwarf beans, 7 purple cauliflowers, 6 black cherry tomatoes (one got a bit damaged in the transition from windowsill to garden, I have a back up if it really doesn't take), plus we have onions (both red and white), garlic and strawberries already in situ. Cucumbers, courgettes, aubergines, herbs, pepers, and chillis are still on the windowsill 🥰🥬 . We topped up the beds with about 1/3 ton of top soil, the rest will go in the front raised beds when I dug out the tuplis, and to fill in some of the craters in the back post tree stupid, play area and paving slab removal. . Also the last of the tulips are giving the most beautiful colour to the garden. We've had loads of new varieties this year.
