🧠 Mental Health Week 2024 🧠 I want to share a story with you, and the reasoning behind Bloom & Self. In November 2023, I had a second (and major) mental breakdown. The reason behind the breakdown is not a story to tell right now, but let's just say it broke me to my core. My anxiety had reached a new peak level, the amount of guilt I was feeling was incredible, and I was at the lowest I had ever felt in my life. I remember texting my Husband saying, "I can't do this anymore"... not him, not us, not our family, just.... everything felt like a lot. The positivity (and stubbornness) in me started to try and find ways to heal - I was walking more, going to the gym more, talking more, loving more, and started crafting again. All of these things made my brain happy - the things that made Kimberly, Kimberly. I had forgotten about her, and now 7 months later, she's recovering, she's better, she's getting there. It was a lot of work, a lot of finding myself, but we are here. Life gets hard, it really does, and if you let it, it will suck you dry. You are worth more, you deserve better, you deserve the time to find yourself and your happiness. If you are struggling, talk about it, go for a walk, listen to your favourite music, lift heavy weights, whatever your therapy is - do it. Your friends and family need you to be happy and feel loved. Pay attention to what's happening in your body when you are still. What is your body communicating to you? For me that it's in pain, burning sensations in some places, cold in others, tingling, tension, eyeballs are tense and burning, sinus cavity full, knobby knees wishing a pillow was in between them. This is beautiful awareness, as I can address everyone. Mental Health Awareness Week 🧠 Movement is medicine is one of the most accurate phrases ever! Dance, especially Turn’d Up Fitness has helped SO many people in so many ways. Our girls have told us that going to classes has helped with their depression, loneliness, stress, addiction, anxiety, eating disorders and self esteem to name but a few. Mental health affects all of us from small day to day stresses to much bigger clinical issues and we all need some help sometimes. We’re lucky that we get to dance, feel free and even just for that hour get a release to free up space in our brain from the noise. ❤️ So whether it’s dance, yoga, running, tennis, swimming, boxing, cycling, CrossFit or just a nice long walk. JUST MOVE - it really helps! Mental Health Awareness Week is vital in increasing public understanding of mental health and how mental health problems can be prevented. After years of being ignored, hidden away, and not being spoken about, Mental Health Awareness Week makes sure that mental health remains at the centre of the public conversation. The theme for this year is #movementformentalhealth and I will be sharing more information about this throughout the week. I have spent my morning having a walk and a catch-up with my sister-in-law to help manage my own mental health and the stresses of everyday life. 💜Mental Health Awareness Week 💜 The focus for mental health awareness week this year is on movement, becoming more physically active. exercise is an incredible way of increasing dopamine levels in the body the body’s feel good hormone , by moving more you will feel better as a result 🙂 now I’m not saying go for a 10k run , a massive 2 hour gym session just any sort of movement for you body with help you, go for a walk 🚶 get out in the fresh air on your own or with a friend whichever you prefer either way try & increase your movement. Every year I post about mental health as it’s a huge part of everyone’s life and it’s important that we are there for eachother , to talk & to listen I’m not ashamed to admit it I’ve had some really bad moments to and from what I’ve learned is to TALK and BE HONEST about how you are feelingBecause bottling it up and trying to deal with it yourself, well, it just doesn’t work for me it was to find people I can TRUST & surround myself around people who are there for me & have your best interests at 💜 and for you or for someone you know who are struggling I would definitely recommend this to them & if you can, be there support its helped me ALOT & I believe it can help someone else to So during this week (and beyond this week) stay in contact with your friends & family & be there for them & don’t forget to try and be more active as this going to help your mood & mindset to Send them a simple text, a call, even a funny meme to show them you are there , thinking of them & there for them if they want to talk (& walk) and im sure it will help make there day🙂 before I go … Here’s some tips from the main mental health website on increasing movement https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/our-work/public-engagement/mental-health-awareness-week/boost-your-mental-health-moving-more Much love 🥰 JP

The reason why mental health is often ignored is because there is still a lot of stigma surrounding mental illness. For many people, mental illness is seen as a sign of weakness. There's a belief that if you can't “just snap out of it,” then there's something wrong with you. This week is Mental health week & the theme this year is ‘Movement’…”moving more for mental health” & although many will look at this & believe it relates to exercise etc, in my opinion it also relates to moving more to an open awareness on mental health & people taking that movement forward to put their mental wellbeing first & foremost & decide to no longer suffer & reach out for help. The techniques I use aren’t always conventional but I assure you they work & get results like this client (& many others) have been hoping for, for many years. Founder and chairman of Pang Dong Lai, a retail chain in central China, Yu Donglai announced the introduction of "unhappy leaves", a decision that is being lauded by several people. The unhappy leave aims at helping employees create a better work-life balance and allow them to rest sufficiently, when needed.
