I'm deeply grateful for trauma-informed therapy, not as a means of dwelling in the past, but as a path to freedom from its grip. Understanding the past enabled me to understand behaviors that were holding me back in the present. By processing past memories and releasing suppressed emotion, I feel confident in my ability to handle anything that comes my way. I can hold myself tenderly through whatever thoughts and emotions arise, without needing to escape myself or blame others. One assessment that was especially powerful in helping me remember pivotal traumatic experiences in childhood--so that I could process and release their subconscious hold on me-- is the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Assessment.
