My Inner Spring is possibly the most variable phase of my cycle in terms of how I feel and my energy levels. This is largely due to how well I’ve been able to acknowledge and honour my needs in my earlier Inner Autumn and Inner Winter (menstruation) aspects of my cycle. If I’ve been able to slow down and rest when I felt I really needed it, then I will often feel a surge of energy around day 4 of my cycle and head on into my Inner Spring feeling inspired and ready to get back out into the world with renewed enthusiasm. If I haven’t been able to slow down, and sometimes this is the case, then I will often head into my Inner Spring and will continue feeling low in energy until I’m nearly in my Inner Summer (Ovulatory phase). It's funny how I answer Oklahoma or Las Vegas when people ask where I'm "from," giving props to the places where my "coming-of-age" took place. But really, I moved to California for college and didn't leave for 28 years. My parents were both raised in Los Angeles beach communities, too, so I think it was preordained. I love Washington. It follows two sisters and their mom through the ups and downs of life in Southern California from the 1940s to the 1960s. It's not just about surfing – it's about the struggles and choices they face, from racism and misogyny to family dynamics and personal freedom. Carol, one of the main characters, finds solace and passion in her sport but has to make tough choices balancing dreams with the demands of relationships and family. I understood her struggles and the conflicting emotions that come with sacrificing personal dreams for the sake of others. I also connected with Mindy, the older sister, who struggled with her own challenges and the complexities of sibling dynamics. Ginger, the youngest sister, was heart-wrenching, showcasing the toll of family dysfunction and societal pressures. The mother has enough on her plate. She cannot AS WELL be defending and explaining how of why she wants her birth that way. The fathers are still much too often cast to the sides, mostly unaware of the power they actually hold. Especially in a hospital, there will be traffic and there be people influencing the couple in a way or another. The partner has to be the advocate for what he knows the mother wants. Men and partners in general need to step up; and learn to say “No. Thank you.” “I heard her say no.” “She doesn’t want that. Let’s try something else. Will you help us?” They need to hold the line. Ich begann, mich immer mehr am Zyklus der Mondin zu orientieren und fand dadurch einen neuen Rhythmus. The Dark Moon of May This is the first Dark Moon of Summer (Pagan/Celtic Calendar) or the first Dark Moon after the solar eclipse on April 8th and high-spring, if following the North American Seasonal calendar. The energy of Beltane and Moon in Taurus anchors us in creativity, beauty, sacred union, communion with Cosmic Mother, and grounded harmony. You may feel a tension between moving forward and old ways, having clarity and questioning our visions. Do you have wise women in your life? When I looked for wise women on line I found only pictures of really old women in the Crone phase of life but that's not the only truth. My sister was the first person I looked up to as you can see! Later on I would stay with my mother's best friend for long weeks. I soaked up her wisdom just by being with her. She raised her four children with laughter and she taught me to mother in a different way to my own mother. Later as I grew friends filled this space in my life. And I'm not taking about confidantes. I mean more than that. I mean women who imparted wisdom. From them I learnt how to parent. From them I learnt to question my conditioning.
