In my dreams, a serpent has coiled itself around my forearm. It is believed that the Greek word 𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘯 meaning ‘to rot’ is the root word for Pythia, the ancient Greek 𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘢 ‘priestess’ at Delphi, whose name derives after Apollo killed the mythical Python, son of Gaia, and left its body to decay in the sun. Lately, my humanness feels as though it also decaying in the sun: altering into something animal-plant, shaped by the season that exalts me. In many dreams, I also search for plants: belonging to astral worlds, not even of the physical world. Sometimes, I hear things like ‘Put mugwort under your pillow and write your dreams when you wake up.’ In my journal today, I wrote some words in Italian (a way to re-remember, learn and practice the language I abandoned after settling here). 𝘐𝘭 𝘮𝘪𝘰 𝘤𝘶𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘶𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘻𝘪𝘰𝘴𝘰. 'My heart is like a silent forest.' It is the only way that I have been able to describe my recent state of being. In my forest heart, there are visitors—many, in fact, and I have to be frugal at which ones I sanction entry. Stepping into this vestige of a church, I said: this is my place of worship. Amid the bones of our ancestors overwhelmed with elderberry, nettle, cleavers and cow parsley—I realised that something beautiful does not always require structure and support. Perhaps, my heart could simply exist as a place. It can be occupied by the birds I love so much or the red clovers I eat raw whenever I see them. My thoughts are becoming less and less filled with faces and more and more taken by animals, places and plants. Consider how money, often seen as a vibrational currency of worth and investment, reflects this pattern. We’ve directed our attention and worth towards a vast, billion-dollar industry built around remedies—seeking solutions outside ourselves for ailments that we’ve created because we don’t understand our nature. 🪷Removed from nature = removed from self. 🪷 A remedy-seeking mindset perpetuates a cycle of symptom-chasing, disconnected from the root cause within our own bodies. We’ve drifted far from recognizing and nurturing our body’s innate healing capabilities. It’s time for a shift in perspective! Instead of continuously searching for external fixes, perhaps we should turn inward, reconnecting with our bodies and honoring their wisdom. Imagine redirecting focus FIRST towards knowing your body can heal itself. Then honoring and nurturing it through what actually supports its nature. COMING TO MEDICINE AS A STUDENT In plant spirit medicine and ancestral herbalism, we recognize ourselves as Nature's students, learning directly from plants that call us into practice with them. For this, we must trust the medicine and ourselves. Plants often start processes we may only jump into head-to-toe, not knowing where they lead us. But from what I've experienced, answering these plant calls brings forth the most magical, unexpected, and life-altering experiences. In ancestral herbalism, we follow the guidance and spiritual teachings of the plants as their students, humble. In modern western herbalism, we try to understand and know them for what they can do for us in terms of healing. It is only through embodied practice and being present with the light and voice of plants that the two will merge and bridge. It's impossible to know the real nature of plants with just the mind, based on information read, no matter how precise. We learn about and WITH PLANTS by establishing and tending to a heartfelt relationship with them, our healers. And more often than not, this deep relation with a plant invokes a healing experience that extends beyond that which is known by western medicine - because western medicine does not touch upon soul and spirit. And plants are our soul guides, unshakeable friends, and multidimensional healers. Herbalism is not a profession - it is a call from the plants and a lifestyle. Nowadays, activism. 💚 In honor of mental health awareness month. Last night I shared a bit of my story from the past ten years of my mental health experience. As I reflect on how I’ve shown up to my service and message on social media, I realize I have shied away from truly expressing my wisdom and knowing of the mind. Speaking on my experience and findings has been difficult and uncomfortable for me as I have listened to many opinions that shut down what I have stood for within myself. In short, I believe our mind is a beautiful organ that lives to tell a story through its conditioning. I believe the most sustainable and fulfilling adventure we can embark on is the gaining of understanding of our unique biology in observance to its true nature. 大地のパワー恐るべし。 夜中も明け方も 発作を繰り返していたのに 朝 お庭に出してから 今まで（ただいま13時前） 一度も発作なしです。 日陰に移動させようと抱き抱えると 死ぬんではないかというくらい苦しむので 日除を張ってみた。 これがなかなか大変で 一苦労でしたが 死にそうなちゃたさんを見るより100万倍マシです。笑 延命と治療、 考えさせられますが もう お水もやっと。 ほぼ飲めてないくらい お皿に顎をつけて水に濡れてるくらいかな。 ・ もし 小さいころから もし もっと長い時間一緒に過ごしてたら ちゃたさんの"好き"をいっぱい知れていただろうな。 だから こんな時こそと "好き"でいっぱい満たしてあげたいと思うけど 出会って4ヶ月 その時点で弱っていたから 我が家は何も彼の“好き"をしらない。 だから 彼の嫌もあまりよくわからない。 撫でられすぎるのは好きではないかもとは知っている笑 ビクッとするのは知ってる 脚に触れるとビクッとなる。 あと ちょっとは 家族の姿が見えると 喜んでくれてるような気がする。 あと さつまいも🍠が好きは知れた！ 知れたことは 片手で収まることくらい。 それでも 我が家にきてくれたことは とても嬉しい。 あとは穏やかに このまま眠るように それを願うばかり。 パパは 帰りをまっててくれよって 言ってるから それは大丈夫よ と呑気にママは伝えておきました。 見えない、触れないって 飼い主だってとても不安になるものよね。 このまま 午後も穏やかであれますように。 #老犬介護 #老犬保護 #大地のパワー #earthmedicine
