The Architecture of the Eternal. Andrew Lang, in his introduction to The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns and Fairies by Robert Kirk (1691) writes that inside the fairy mounds the light is ‘artificial’ and glows softly. “These fairy mounds, in their true state, are only visible, in their quarterly appearances, to men of the second sight. That gift of vision includes not only power to see distant or future events, but the viewless forms of air.” So, we have what appears to be an attempt to describe timelessness or a place outside of our own linear experience of time. In recent years, many researchers have begun to investigate more scientific explanations for the strange occurrences and experiences people have had at ancient places and stone circles. Some have looked at the stones themselves and their electromagnetic properties. Might the circles exert a subtle form of energy, perhaps, that affects us on a subconscious level? Trance and altered states of consciousness are long associated with stone circles. This is my new late night read: ‘Alive With Spirits’ by @ladyalthaea. I started it last night and am about 20% through, according to the Kindle app, so while I can’t give a full review, what I will say is that what I have read so far is very good. Althaea’s writing style is clear yet evocative and already the book stands out from the typical fare. Animism is something I want to figure out more for my own practice—I have beliefs there that I can’t quite tease out or currently put into language—and so it is refreshing to find a book devoted to this. Entonces nos situamos nosotros en el fondo de su experiencia o estamos en primer plano el uno para el otro? Entonces, mas allá de ser terrescenarios para nuestros encuentros, son caras enormes cuyos cuerpos se extienden por dimensiones del inframundo que no siempre somos capaces de percatar. Y cuando me miran estas caras, aún no se que nombre darles, solo se que me están mirando de vuelta a mí. Y que ese diálogo entre nosotros nos puede despertar partes inusuales, partes latentes. Partes que sirven para historias incipientes que de nuevas formas culturas que quieren nacer. Esas voces, si las oímos, nos pueden provocar respuestas que conllevan valores y perspectivas que la modernidad nos suele ocultar y dejar en el olvido. ¿Como mirar de otra forma, como expresar de otra manera? ¿Como tomar otros tipos de decisiones, como se mueven nuestros valores cuando compartimos en estos escenarios?
