The May Witches Moon Box arrived the other day! The theme revolves around the Greek Goddess Hygieia, the Goddess of Health, Cleanliness and Hygiene. Bath Gel, incense, Blue Calcite piece and candle holder, herbs, artwork, ceramic goddess incense holder, lovely blue candle and more! I’ve never heard of this Goddess and rarely work with the Greek pantheon, but I like the idea of a self care package. Instead of a massive bath gel, I would have preferred a small oil and a small spray. I already have plenty of bath products in our home. @the.witches.moon have been making some changes lately and I’m not completely on board with them. I hope they bring back the smaller sprays and oils in glass containers or I may find myself dropping my subscription as those were a big attraction for me. W I L D W O O L R U G So besides making Spirit Doll i also make Vegetarian Sheepskin Rugs. What is a vegetarian sheepskin? It is using a fleece from a sheep after shearing and creating a wool backing, so no harm to any little cuties in the process. This was a beautiful commission which i throughly enjoyed creating and working with this gorgeous ram fleece from @fernhillfibre . A fern was requested for the back of the rug which i added through needle felting. My beautiful son lochlann was modelling it for mummy. Unfortunately it was raining a few days before it went to its new home, so i couldn't get any photos of it in the sun in all its glory. But hey 🤷♀️ you can still see it right? I was thinking about what to write today…after the flurry of excitement of my business launch yesterday, I wasn’t sure what should follow. I took a walk in our nearby wood, drumming amongst the chestnuts, and then I saw them. The ants were numerous, scurrying to and fro, looking very busy. I spent a long time watching them. Ant Spirit medicine is one of community, cooperation, and collaboration. It is about finding your tribe, working with others, and building things that will benefit all. Ant plans, Ant is patient, and Ant is persistent. This medicine felt very appropriate for me at this moment, as I very much enjoy my own company. I like my solitude, and recharge my batteries that way. And yet with beginning my business, Spirit has beckoned me to step out of my comfort zone, and share what I have to offer more widely. Across the street from my gym used to be a large Sears store built in the 50’s that presided over Ft Lauderdale when it was the epicenter of spring-break debauchery made famous by movies like “Where The Boys Are” (filmed on location here). But the Sears sadly closed in 2022 and now that I’m going back to my old gym I discovered that the buildings that comprised the local “Sears Town” have been completely obliterated. . . to make way for, yeah - you guessed it, more condos. 😢. Beltane Blessings to you all. Here are some photos from last night's celebration. We had a week of torrential rain before the event and our giant burn pyre we've been gathering the past few months was soaked thoroughly. So, I made a wheel of the year structure, and we burned that for our fire :) I gave a short speech on the history of Beltane, and the folk stories of the horned God Cernunnos impregnating the Mother Earth Goddess and all her blooming plant life she births into the world during Beltane. I held space for everyone to feel out their dreams, passions, and desired creations they, too, wish to birth into life. Every year I collect a several of these and tan them into leather. I plan to make a lambskin jacket for myself.
