KEITTIÖN TULISIJA Huhtikuussa muurattiin keittiöön leivinuuni tilpehööreineen. Taitava muurarimme @rennisihvola toteutti unelmiemme uunin ennalta laadittujen ideasuunnitelmien mukaisesti. Toiveena oli leivinuuni ja sen eteen pieni valurautahella. Lisänä nurkkatuli ja tila kaasuhellalle, jossa sähköuunit. Tilaa piti löytyä kaasupullolle ja puille. Toiveita oli niin paljon, että muuraus- ja suunnittelutyö ei varmasti ollut helpoimmasta päästä. Pienen hellan Renni kunnosti meille omista varastoistaan. Högfors Rapid 3 on pienin hella, jonka olen koskaan nähnyt. Pikkuhellan ideana on mahdollistaa kahvin ja perunoiden keitto kesäkuumalla ja tietenkin puiden säästö - pikkupesään mahtuu vain alle 30 cm klapit. Nurkkatuli sai patinoituneet messinkiluukut estämään kissan vierailut tuhkapesässä 🐱. Tarkoitus on vielä teettää toisiin saranoihin lasiluukut messinkiluukkujen taakse, jotta tulta voi ihailla ruokapöydän ääreltä. Tulisijan kylkeen kiinnitettiin taottuja koukkuja mm. pannuille ja hiilikolalle. Vielä tulisijassa on viimeistelytöitä, kuten laatoitusta ja kaasupullokaapin oven rakentelua. Jo nyt näyttää hyvälle 🥰. Tiiliä meni enemmän kuin arveltiin. Monia osia hankittiin käytettynä rakennusapteekeista ja Renni hitsasi huuvan tukiraudan ja huuvaa kannattelevan nurkkatuen. Kuvakollaasia selailemalla pääsee kurkistelemaan eri työvaiheita. Lilacs! Awaiting what might be the best fragrance in the world. They are beginning to emerge although they’re not really open or fragrant yet. As a child, lilacs were always my certainty that it truly was May. The ditch across the road was lined with them, mostly the light mauve ones, and then to the west of the house, lined on the road allowance all along the meadow, was a mix of mauve and white and once they were open, the air was full of their scent. The bushes to the side my childhood home have mostly been crowded out by other (likely invasive) species and died. And a house was built across the road, and for some reason unbeknownst to me, the people dug those bushes out - well, partly I guess they needed a driveway, but … My mind often goes to the concept of ownership because even though those bushes weren’t technically mine as they were across the road, they felt as if they were mine. They were what I saw and smelled from my bedroom window all the years of my childhood and many years visiting afterward. I’ve been noticing that my kids are now old enough to be nostalgic about things, which is interesting. They’ve inherited my indignation against change when it comes to trees and flowers and buildings and traditions and now it’s me reminding them (and myself in the process) that change is inevitable and we have to let go at times. So, yes, I noticed some lilacs beginning to bloom in the backyard and somehow ended up with all of these words. ☺️💜 Are you a particularly nostalgic person?
