Blessed Beltane, sisters dear! Flashback to when my grandmother Sheila was crowned the May Queen of Oxfordshire, England in the 1940’s. I wonder if my grandfather was the Green Man? That’s her sisters and friends with her. She said they danced around the May Pole with flowers for Beltane and that she was terribly surprised when she won. She sat on a throne and they lit bonfires. She told me that people brought her gifts to win her favor and she got to boss everybody around. She was introverted but I bet she ate it up. Love you and miss you, Nana! 🌸🔮🌼

Questa cosa del palo di maggio è stata una grandissima gioia dell’ultimo mese. Il culto del palo di maggio deriva da un antichissimo culto degli alberi..cosa molto interessante il fatto che il culto degli alberi lo ritroviamo in tutte le culture, anche in quelle che non possono essersi incontrate perché in altri continenti. Insomma la stessa storia dei draghi, avete presente? In ogni cultura si trovano raffigurazioni antichissime di esseri tipo draghi di epoche in cui non avevano potuto parlarsi, questi artisti. Oppure mi fa venire in mente il fatto che in tutte le religioni/colture gli elefanti hanno un influsso positivo, sono disegnati come divinità o come elementi dentro un paradiso. Siamo un po’ usciti dal tema comunque, il palo di maggio è un momento in cui, se vogliamo essere un po’ più paganucci, il divino maschile si unisce con il divino femminile, e qui si potrebbe parlare della festa di Beltane. In ogni caso durante il ballo per il palo di maggio, maschi e femmine ballano intrecciando la corda in direzioni opposte proprio per unirsi in un futuro conune. Che poi anche l’unione della divinità femminile e maschile si trova anche nel cattolicesimo ma sto uscendo di nuovo fuori tema. #palodimaggio #maypole
