This book was written by his daughter and captures what life was like leaving communist Romania and moving to Texas. Варто, мабуть, розпочати з історії. "Уван" —Українська вільна академія наук, створена 15 листопада 1945 в Авґсбурзі гуртом українських учених в еміграції. Існувало три організації УВАН: в США, Канаді та Європі. Організація в США видала з 1950 до 1980 понад 90 книг українською і англійською мовами про українську культуру та історію, твори, які не могли видати в УРСР, мемуарну літературу та ін. Про неї краще почитати окремо, сьогодні ж про інше. Цю книгу авторка присвятила одній із архіваріусів УВАН у Нью-Йорку — Оксані Міяковській-Радиш, з якою пані Забужко мала щастя спілкуватися особисто. Героїня книги дуже цікава і варта окремої розмови. Але хто читав Оксану Забужко, то знайомий з її манерою викладу. Ти отримуєш не якусь локальну історію, а цілий історичний і культурний пласт, який потрібно вивчати додатково. І для мене багато інформації опісля прочитання сприймається інакше. А ще мені подобається, що письменниця відкриває незнайомі або призабуті сторінки з нашого минулого, ті українські родини, що своєю щоденною працею творили і зберігали нашу історію, навіть в еміграції, імена, які затиралися роками чи спотворювалися. Також тут багато йдеться про літературні процеси в нашій країні в кінці XIX- на поч.XXстоліть, та вплив на рос.літературу. І окремо йде Чехов і його "Вишневий сад", що був створений під враженням від перебування письменника на Сумщині, і від його спілкування з трьома сестрами Линтварьовими. Never and Night Series🧝🏻♀️💫 von Wer eine gute Peter Pan Retelling Story lesen möchte mit ein wenig 🌶️ , sollte auf jeden fall die Never and Night Trilogie lesen🫣 Ich habe die Reihe innerhalb halb von 2 Tagen regelrecht verschlungen, Ich hab die Charaktere geliebt, die Plots sowie die Lovestory zwischen Moira und…🤫, Ich habe schon einige Peter Pan Retellings gelesen, keine war so nah am Original wie diese hier, natürlich ist das hier kein Kinderbuch und die Geschichte ist weitaus düsterer. Kot, który spadł z nieba | Takashi Hiraide ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Na początku czytania tej książki byłam bardzo podekscytowana. Zachęcił mnie opis i nie ma co ukrywać, odkłada również. Jednak było w niej coś, co sprawiło, że na koniec nie czułam się usatysfakcjonowana. Książka opowiada o pewnym małżeństwie, które wiedzie spokojne życie. Głównie na nich oraz ich codzienności skupione są wszystkie wydarzenia. Pewnego dnia ich świat został wywrócony do góry nogami przez pojawienie się w ich sąsiedztwie kotki – Chibi. Opis relacji jaka wiązała to małżeństwo z kotem jest naprawdę piękny i zdecydowanie te fragmenty czytało się najprzyjemniej. Mniej więcej w połowie książki akcja zmienia przez co nie czytało mi się jej już tak dobrze jak na początku. Prawdę mówiąc mam bardzo mieszane uczucia. Jest to pozycja przyjemna, ma krótkie rozdziały więc czyta ją się szybko, a na dodatek jest po prostu lekturą, która nie wymaga bardzo dużego zaangażowania. Zapewne gdyby nie zmiana w akcji to dostała by całe 5 gwiazdek. CURRENTLY READING - 1984 - George Orwell This is one of those novels on my 'must-read' list that I hadn't gotten around to starting until now. Well, I say now; I actually started it on a coach trip to Dover last month but kept falling asleep, and it is not the kind of book you want to be drifting off through. So I have restarted it today, and it makes a heck of a lot more sense when reading it with eyes open. And yes, I am aware of closing my eyes whilst reading about Big Brother... Surprinsă într-o ipostază ciudată și dificilă, Naomi ajunge să fie ghidată de cei din orășel și în special de Knox... ⭐ Knox este tipul de bărbat dur, impunându-se prin statura sa masivă și prin tatuaje. ✒️RIMAS Y LEYENDAS, de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, es una obra que me ha traído experiencias y sentimientos muy bonitos durante su lectura. ➡️Desliza hasta el final para verlo. 💗La parte de las rimas es muy recomendable para todo aquel lector que desee sumergirse en unos versos delicados, sencillos y cargados del sentimiento más puro. 🌚La parte de las leyendas te conduce a una atmósfera misteriosa, tenebrosa y de ambiente español expresada con una prosa bellísima y detallista. Entre mis leyendas favoritas se encuentran: La cruz del diablo, Maese Pérez el organista, El rayo de luna, El Cristo de la calavera, Los ojos verdes y, por supuesto, El Monte de las Ánimas. ✨Si me veis tan caracterizada, es porque tuve la oportunidad de darle vida al Monte de las ánimas en un cuentacuentos dentro de la feria del libro de @ceip_pablopicasso . Como veis en la última imagen, la experiencia fue una chulada: luces apagadas, ambiente tenebroso, música ambiental… y alumnos y docentes súper atentos que mostraron un gran interés por mis palabras. O, mejor dicho, por las palabras de Bécquer. ❤️Ha sido una experiencia preciosa aproximar a uno de los grandes de nuestra literatura a un público tan joven, pero no por ello menos entusiasta. Нарешті і в мене дійшла черга до прочитання цієї історії. В двух словах, що маємо в анотації. Наша головна героїня Піп (так, це її ім'я), 17 років, проживає в невеличкому містечку, де 5 років назад було скоєне вбивство. При цьому вона пише шкільний проект, про цей злочин, так як вірить в невинність головного підозрюваного. Тут я не спойлерю, це все буквально на перших 10 сторінках розповідається. Отже на старті ми отримуємо таку собі Ненсі Дрю, яка проводить розмови, бере показання свідків, збирає докази. Тут мені було трохи фантастики, що всі майже охоче розмовляли, ділилися подробицями. Але маємо що маємо. По моїм враженням... Я вже трохи застара для таких книг. Ну тобто це жанр, який я люблю, в стилі Агати Крісті, що теж мені імпонує. Але сама оповідь... От для підлітків, які люблять детективи, буде ідеально. Тому що я читала, а в голові були уривки серіалів, які я дивилася років 20 назад. До речі, Нетфлікс обіцяє в цьому році серіал, знятий по мотивам цієї книги. Резюмую - детектив доволі непоганий, а ще я молодець, здогадалася хто ж головний здодій, але цільова аудиторія, на мою скромну думку, це підлітки. Що впринципі і заявлено видавництвом. Від себе ставлю 4. Чи читатиму продовження? Today, I’m bringing together two of my favorite things: food and books. As you may know, I read as voraciously as I eat: about a book a week on average, all from the @bklynlibrary, which means I have no shelf wealth, but I do have an impressive Hold List. I just finished The Bee Sting, by Paul Murray, which I loved (though that punctuation! and that ending!), Wellness, by Nathan Hill, which I think I need to read again because it tackled so much about love and the psyche and conditioning and the mind, and Splinters, by Leslie Jamison, which I LOVED and felt cracked open my soul, reached inside, and mirrored it. But food has also found its way into my books lately so I wanted to share a few recommendations that use food to beautiful effect, framing the narrative, and inspiring hunger in more ways than one. Funny Story 💙 by Emily Henry Emily Henry just never misses!! All of her books are so incredibly beautiful, relatable, and funny. Funny Story was that and so much more for me. Dare I say this might be my new favorite Em Hen book?!?!? (I keep going back and forth between it and Happy Place) Daphne my girl!! 🥹🫶🏻 Her character truly spoke to my soul. Her inner dialogue felt so similar to my own at times. I loved watching her find herself throughout the book and push out of her comfort zone to grow. I also really loved how a lot of this was on her own. It’s not like her new relationship just fixed everything. It just felt so realistic. Miles is 100% my favorite Emily Henry man. I love how we got to see so much of his chapter and how his past had formed so many of his reactions. He was so kind, thoughtful, just overall wonderful. Them together was just EVERYTHING! In the outside you don’t see them working. They have different lives and personalities but on the inside their souls just fit perfectly together. I just forever love how Emily writes her couples. They just feel so real and authentic. You can feel the love and friendship jumping off the pages. This book couldn’t have been more perfect!! Daphne and Miles have been living rent free in my mind since finishing this book. 🥹
