My Opinion My second visit to Micklewick Bay was a real page-turner, this could work as a standalone. This was a sweet, light-hearted read although it did touch on some darker topics. I really loved the idea of Maggie sewing her bears, they just sounded lovely. I read this book over a day, each time I put it down I was eager to return. Micklewick Bay sounds like such a lovely place to visit. Have you read Stephen Graham Jones’ short, Attack of the 50 Foot Indian? • I read this one last week and really enjoyed it. Have you ever read Stephen King’s connected collection, Hearts in Atlantis? • I’ve read this one a couple times and I absolutely love it. The Vietnam commentary is so heavy but do well done. The characters in each story — and the few that appear in each one — are just so well written. This whole book is incredibly well written. • Which story is your favorite? • The two novellas blow away the three short stories, but none of them are bad. Zombies were the main thing that mattered these days.” • Look guys, another random Stephen Graham Jones short story I found floating around lol This one, Chapter Six, is a tornightfire original. • Go on their website, find it, and read it. Chapter Six is a short little zombie story that has SGJ’s typical style and flare but there’s moments where I almost thought this had a touch of Michael Crichton’s science-mixed-with-fiction style. • Chapter Six is short but definitely not sweet — it’s nasty and dark and the end bits definitely were jarring. Do you know Hettie Bagshot and Tilly Jenkins, two cat detectives? I'm a huge fan of this cosy crime series by Mandy Morton and have already read four other volumes. However, it's funnily my first time to have read "The No2 Feline Detective Agency" which is the first book of the series. All the characters are cats but they act, think, dress and eat nearly as if they were humans. TRILÓGIA VEČNÝ ŽID 🩵💛❤️ V mojej malej čakárničke najnovšie skončila aj táto trilógia, ktorú som „šlohla“ z knižnice starých rodičov 🤭 Je vidieť, že už má čo to za sebou a že sa na nej podpísal zrub času, ale snáď jedno prečítanie ešte tieto knihy vydržia 😌 Toto je jeden z najznámejších románov francúzskeho autora Eugèna Sueho a aj keď kritici tvrdia, že jeho knihy sú veľmi povrchné, u ľudí si zase získali sympatie. Nie je tajomstvom, že zrovna Večný Žid ovplyvnil aj Victora Huga pri písaní Bedárov. Knihy boli prvýkrát vydané v roku 1851 a o dva roky neskôr už vznikla aj opera na námet týchto kníh. Knihy sú aj sfilmované, prvýkrát to bolo v roku 1904 a neskôr ich opäť sfilmovali v roku 1926, ale oba filmy sú ešte nemé. ❗️Upozorňujem, že tieto knihy nemajú nič spoločné s propagandistickým nacistickým filmom z roku 1940. Tiež sa volá Večný Žid, ale v dnešnej dobe je zakázaný a môže sa premietať len na uzavretých vedeckých seminároch s vysvetľujúcim komentárom. @nordikanightauthor not only are we reclaiming weirdo... We also get mention of the 'bottom diet' and to top it off a depression rep that isn't shown often. I felt so seen. When depression just stops you from functioning when it isn't triggered by outside influences just hits you. Love that so much. Loved Reid and how he just got Att. This was a beautiful book, an amazing romance with amazing characters and great great spice. Do check the trigger warnings!

Ce thriller psychologique m’a complètement ensorcelé dès les premières pages et m’a emmené dans un voyage captivant au cœur de l’âme humaine. L’intrigue est riche en rebondissements et en suspense. Dès le début, on est plongé dans un univers sombre et mystérieux où chaque personnage cache des secrets profonds. L’auteur maîtrise parfaitement l’art de distiller les indices subtils, nous tenant en haleine jusqu’à la dernière page. Les personnages sont complexes et fascinants. J’ai été particulièrement intrigué par le protagoniste, dont les motivations et les actions m’ont tenue en haleine jusqu’à la fin. Chacun des personnages secondaires apporte une dimension supplémentaire à l’histoire, créant un tableau complet et immersif. La plume d’Alexis Laipsker est tout simplement envoûtante. Son écriture fluide m’a transporté dans un tourbillon d’émotions, oscillant entre le frisson de l’intrigue et la profondeur des réflexions sur la nature humaine. Chaque page est un régal pour les sens, et j’ai savouré chaque mot. Alexis Laipsker nous offre un récit captivant, mêlant mystère, suspense et réflexions profondes sur la condition humaine. Dit eerste deel in de serie vond ik meteen heel tof. De schrijfstijl is weer heel fijn zoals verwacht en de personages zijn goed uitgewerkt. Er zit genoeg actie en spanning in maar ook een fijne opbouw in het verhaal zelf. Je leest vanuit het heden en het verleden en dat valt mooi samen. Het einde zag ik ook niet helemaal aankomen en vond ik goed in elkaar zitten. Ik ben wel erg benieuwd hoe dit verder gaat als serie want dit verhaal voelde op het einde wel afgerond. Ik hoop dat de rest van deze serie snel volgt! Ugyanis ezen a napon a bátyjának a legjobb barátja megerőszakolta, amely Eden világát darabokra szagatta és teljesen megváltoztatta a lányt. 🥺🫣 Eden magába folyt minden, és teljesen átfordul valami másba. Ráadásul az első szerelem is megtalálja, amely ezután a trauma után nehézkesen megy számára. 👀💕 A történet olvasása során legtöbbször azon gondolkodtam, hogy egy másik ember mekkora traumát képes valakinek okozni, amely teljesen tönkre is teszi azt a személyt. 😥💔 A könyvvel nem haladtam valami gyorsan. Egyrészt egy ideig semmilyennek éreztem az egészet és szívszorító volt olvasni, ahogyan Eden kifordul önmagából. Másrészt pedig annyira időm sem volt olvasni. J’aime assez la collection Terres Sombres des Presses de la Cité, où le lieu fait figure de personnage principal des intrigues polardesques. Je garde un bon souvenir des opus de Gwenaële Robert à Saint-Malo ou de Joseph Macé-Scaron à Étretat. 📒 Same player, shoot again : ce dernier nous revient dans la même collection avec La Reine Jaune, où Roquebrune-sur-Argens sert de décor aux retrouvailles du capitaine Guillaume Lassire et de la chartiste Paule Nirsen, duo gagnant du premier opus. 📒 Faut dire que sur les hauteurs des côtes varoises, la canicule fait tomber les cadavres comme des mouches. À moins que ce ne soit des causes un peu moins naturelles dans cette contrée propice à toutes les dérives, mafieuses, affairistes, légendaires, survivalistes et même sectaires. 📒 Voilà un polar léger, fluide et idéal pour une lecture reposée d’été (ce qui n’est pas péjoratif chez moi, loin de là !), mais qui laissera les amateurs de trames sombres sur leur faim. 📒 Trop d’angles ouverts - qu’il faut bien refermer acrobatiquement pour conclure – ont eu raison de mon attention, et l’utilisation abusive de XDDL, de ma bienveillance. 📒 Reste que l’ensemble s’avale d’une traite, est instructif et m’aura permis de savoir ce que sont les andouillers. Et c’est déjà beaucoup !
