" I love u" While Tate McRae said Qui dit concert dit "I love u" by !!

🥰❤️‍🔥 Vielen lieben Dank @droemerknaur @knaurfantasy 🤍 #knaurverlag #knaurfantasy #atempestoftea #hafsahfaizal #fantasybook #bookrecommendation

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries — @heather_fawcett ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries was a perfect little whimsical escape of a book. It was so cozy to start or end my day with. Professor Emily Wilde is writing her very own Encyclopedia of Faeries, which examines the culture’s vast world of magical beings. Her last destination is a remote village in the country of Ljosland. She’s joined by only her canine companion shadow, that is until her academic rival colleague Wendell Bambleby has taken it upon himself to join Emily on her trip. As the days pass and the pair begins researching, Emily suspects Bambleby may be more familiar with the fae than what meets the eye. Long story short, the pair sets off on a pretty wild(e) (lol) journey, but the story still maintained such a cozy atmosphere somehow. A few notes that I loved were A) the banter. The banter between Emily and Wendell was so good it made me laugh out loud several times. And B) the way Fawcett gave character to the setting and weather. The way she described it really made the scenes come alive and every word was so carefully chosen — it was beautiful to read. 🤍 Overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one. 4 ⭐️s! #bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #currentlyreading #igreads #goodreads #bookblogger #bookaholic #bookphotography #bookaddict #bookcommunity #readinglist #bookrecommendation #bookhaul #bookstack #librarylove #booksandcoffee #booksandplants #bookflatlay #romancebooks #bookclubofinstagram #bibliophilelife #shelfie #bookreviewblog

📚 Book Name: Pizza Girl by Jean Kyoung Frazier 🎭 Genre: Contemporary Fiction ⭐️ My Rating: 4/5 📚 About the Book📚 Pizza Girl” by Jean Kyoung Frazier? It’s like grabbing a late-night slice with your besties—totally satisfying and leaves you wanting more. So, picture this: you’ve got this pizza delivery girl, right? But she’s not your typical delivery chick. She’s juggling a lot—pregnant, dealing with some serious life stuff, and just trying to make ends meet. The story introduces us to all of her messy ups and downs. Frazier’s writing? It’s like chatting with a friend over pizza—real and honest. Also, the characters? They’re like people you’d actually hang out with, someone just trying to figure things out. But what really got me? The unconventional relationship between the pizza girl and this mysterious customer. It’s like a plot twist you never saw coming—equal parts heartwarming, funny and a little bit twisted. Overall, “Pizza Girl” is a chill read for when you’re in the mood for something that’s as real as it gets. So grab a slice, kick back, and dive into this deliciously satisfying story. 🔖 #PizzaGirl #JeanKyoungFrazier #ContemporaryFiction #BookReview #RawAndReal #MustRead #EmotionalJourney #DarkHumor #BookRecommendation #Bookstagram #InstaBooks

Love at First Book by Jenn McKinlay 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/3 🌶️ Emily Allen is starting her new chapter - a year abroad working for her favorite author - at The Last Chapter, a quaint bookshop in rural Ireland. She loves her mornings helping Siobhan, the author of the children’s books that helped get her through a tumultuous childhood, finish the final book of the series. She would also enjoy her afternoons working in the bookshop if not for her infuriating boss Kieran, who happens to be Siobhan’s son. When Em discovers the truth about why Kieran doesn’t want her around, it only draws her deeper into their lives. I really enjoyed Jenn McKinlay‘s Summer Reading, which is Em’s bestie Sam’s story. I was thrilled to see Em would be getting her own book and squealed at the premise because she deserves all the good things! I also need to mention narrator Brittany Pressley who brings so much depth to Emily while also voicing like 10 characters with Irish accents! Is there anything she can’t do!? Em and Kier’s enemies to lovers dance is certainly fun, but I don’t think it’s the most “romantic” element of this book. As an adolescent reader who grew up to be an adult reader (okay, with a decade break), that connection to a certain series, a certain character resonates so deeply. To become a part of the creation process, to see where the characters came from, to mean something to a world that has meant so much to you..that was such a dreamy story to soak up. This book also gets fairly heavy, including topics like childhood trauma and complicated family dynamics. It deals with grief and legacy and owning up to our mistakes and does all of it elegantly. Dream casting! First there was the Irish accent and deep blue eyes, and then there were the expressive eyebrows..was Kieran written for Colin O’Donoghue? Or am I just on a Once Upon A Time kick? And a tiny ginger to get under his skin..I’ve always love AnnaSophia Robb with red hair, and she’d be a fun nod to a beloved children’s book! #loveatfirstbook #jennmckinlay #bookstagram #bookreview #bookrecommendation #romancereader #happilyeverafter

📚 #youwithaview #podróżztobą #jessicajoyce #bookworm #bookstagram #bookrecommendation #bookaddict #czytanie #reading #książkara #romancebooks @jessicajoycewrites @wydawnictwohype @wydawnictwofilia

Happy pub day to The Summer I Destroyed You by Elizabeth O’Roark! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars Emmy is an unlikable heroine that I end up loving by the end of the story. She has a tough exterior with a lot of walls built up around her. Being raised by an awful mother like that will do that to you. But, she is soft and vulnerable on the inside. Emmy is back in her hometown of Elliot Springs to help her mother recover after surgery. She also has a revenge plan to destroy the town that was terrible towards her when she was a fat child growing up. Liam has been her contractor contact in Elliot Springs for months. He has loved their text messages and has had a secret crush on a woman he has never seen. He is sweet, but can also be oh so demanding. I love that he stood up for and stood by Emmy. Plus, there is no third act breakup! Read this if you like: Small town romance Grumpy/sunshine trope He falls first Mommy issues I have loved the three other books in this series. What You Are Looking For Is In The Library by Michiko Aoyama Heartwarming, charming and cosy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Japanese authors are so good at writing cosy, uplifting books & it's fast becoming one of my favourite genres. And this was a great example of one of those sweet and simple little reads. In this book, five people, each feeling a little lost, enter a library & come out with a book that inspires them. This book, reccomend by the librarian, seems to be completely unrelated to what they were initially looking for & is accompanied by a 'bonus gift.' Both these odd things resonate with the characters and they go on to make both small & big steps to change themselves & their lives I liked how the characters made little appearances in one another's stories. Each character was very interesting, and all very different. But my favourite of the three tales was probably, tale number three;  Natsumi, a mother who, after returning from maternity leave, finds herself demoted from her editing role, whilst also struggling with motherhood. I'm not sure why I loved this tale the best, but I did. It was particularly sweet, I think. I do wish, however, that we could have learned a little more about the librarian herself, Mrs Komachi This book wasn't thrilling or exciting, it was simple and rather slow, but that's what I love about these types of books; they don't need action or big world building or high stakes to have an impact. It is an inspiring & pleasant book which explores human connection, purpose & the way personal growth can be possible at any point. It serves as a reminder that everyone is capable of something wonderful, and it is never too late to start over. Something that's definitely resonating with me At just under 250 pages, this is a great, quick book if you're looking for something a little slower paced, with interesting characters and a message. I can definitely see myself reading this again, & I think everyone should give this little book a go ✅✅ #bookreviewer #bookreview #bookstagram #bookrecommendation #booklover #bookstagrammer #japanesebooks

Us Against You ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Being back in Beartown is just a super special feeling 🐻 It brought back all the emotions I felt for the first book and so much more! It took me a few pages to get back into the world of this tiny town where hockey plays an omnipresent role. Mostly because the beginning was a bit of a retelling of the first story and I was afraid there would be nothing new. But of course this was not the case. We get new characters, a lot of political scheming (but never to the point where I would get lost) and an even deeper dive into the minds and the relationships of the people we met in the first book. And taking a deeper and more emotional dive with an author as talented as Backman… I just never read anything like this. This book crushed me, brought me to tears (multiple times, in public 🙈), build me back up, let me root for the morally grey characters. Backman is just such a talented writer, who uses simple words but in all the right ways. You will find parts of you and your own relationships in this book without being a hockey fanatic from a small town. “For some people the answer is simply that a team is a family. For anyone who needs an extra one or never had one in the first place.” Because in the end this book is not about hockey, it’s about the human need to find people who will be there for you, to form a family. About the struggle to be accepted by your peers and the need for love even when your actions sometimes scream the opposite. I will stop rambling now (the more you think about this book the more little but genius nuances you will find) and will just leave you with the recommendation to pick up these books RIGHT NOW! #bookstagram #booksta #bookstagrammer #booklover #booklove #booklovers #booklife #bookaddict #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookrecsofinstagram #bookrecommendation #bookreader #readmorebooks #readmore #readersgonnaread #beartown

A total pageturner after so long! Based on two young neighboring couples, the Brunelles and the Genoits, Mother's Instinct by Barbara Abel is about the ranges that are often contravened by the inherent need of motherhood for certain women. Tiphaine and Laetitia, the mothers of the story, had bonded over their newly found domestic bliss and the birth of their sons at the same time, more or less. The neighboring ladies lost themselves in their conversations and let their children's lives take over every word they uttered. On female bonds secured by the age-old instinct of nurturing, what would be left if one lost their child?  As one of the boys who have been friends since birth dies, the grief takes over the lives of both mothers. A grief of lost motherhood, lost companionship, and lost hope. The two women find themselves in unbearable positions every day. Their husbands have little role to play in the narrative but to act as the right hands of their wives; after all, what role would a father play in the bond that was secured by flesh between the mothers, the sons, and the women living mirrored lives? The father is a rather misplaced figure in the narrative, his presence being very inconsequential. The idyllic setting is disrupted by the death of one of the boys, and it is a fate from which none could completely recover. A couple's lives after losing a child change forever, but so does their relationship with everyone close to them. The Genoits mourned for their son. The Brunelles mourned for the Genoits. The two boys would never play together in their yards again. And the two couples would never engage again, as the domestic euphoria that bound them together was forever lost.  But Mother's Instinct is not just a story of grief; it is a story of revenge and divine questioning too. Why must one be chosen to experience the greatest tragedy of all? The Genoits demanded to know, while the Brunelles grew increasingly wary of the little accidents that began to cloud the life of their little boy. The blithesome suburban air begins to emanate more and more paranoia and agony with every page. 5/5⭐ #mothersinstinct #bookreview #annehathaway #jessicachastain

one by one by freida mcfadden 🕵️🪵🔥🍂 3.5⭑ I’ve enjoyed every freida mcfadden book I’ve read so far and this one is no different. her writing is super easy to consume and keeps me entertained from beginning until the end. the pacing was good and I really enjoyed the story as a whole. I was immediately drawn to the setting of the woods and them being out in the open, media pieces like this always get me! and I feel freida did a great job with it, I was immersed into the world straight away, felt as if I was there with them and it was eerie, creepy and fun (maybe it shouldn’t have been fun). 🌳 we follow our main character claire who I liked following, I don’t usually care much about characters in thrillers however I like how real she felt, I liked learning about her life and seeing how she navigated this situation and was rooting for her. I also REALLY liked the anonymous pov we had and trying to figure out who it could belong to (I didn’t guess). 🕵️ I had many theories whilst reading this BUT i didn’t guess the ending which I LOVE because when I guess them it always takes the shock away! but this one got me! when the ending wrapped up it wasn’t what i expected at all but it did make so much sense! also that one last page at the end?! obsessed, I’m still thinking about it days after finishing! although I did really enjoy this my rating is a 3.5 purely because it’s not one that will stick with me for a long time or one I’ll think about too often. but i do highly recommend this if you like thrillers / mysteries, want a fast and easy read or if you want something to help get you out of a slump! what’s your favourite freida mcfadden book????

This was a book I haven't seen at all on bookstagram, nor did I hear anything about it. I tend to keep up with new books in the genres and topics I'm interested in, so that was quite strange. I requested the ARC because the lack of its online visibility made me all the more curious. Thanks to @netgalley and @alcovepress for providing it 💜 An excerpt from synopsis by the publisher: "Wesley Friends School is Washington, DC’s most prestigious prep school, so of course Aki Hayashi-Brown is proud to teach at it and send her daughter Meg there. Why wouldn't she be proud? Parents kill to have their kid enrolled at Wesley. Not only is Wesley the premier academic destination for the children of the capital elite, but it’s all about "Diversity, Achievement, Collegiality," as all of their every glossy brochures will tell you. Aki should know. As one of the few teachers of color on staff, her face is plastered on every piece of marketing material the school puts out. But when someone graffities "Make Wesley White Again" on campus, it exposes dangerous fault lines in the school community—ones Aki may have spent a lifetime learning to ignore." Even though the ARC was quite unfinished and had some errors, I still mostly enjoyed it. It was a very important story about how institutions often put up a front of diversity and equity while the actual practice couldn't even be further from that and they still uphold the privilege of those who have the wealth and power. It's also about how sometimes people of color have to unwillingly serve the very powers that oppress them, just to ensure that they get opportunities that otherwise wouldn't be available. The mc's moral dilemma around this question takes up most of the narrative, along with the investigation into the hate crime that happens on campus. I found these topics very thought-provoking and I assume the author, Emma Sasaki has some inside knowledge about prep schools because the only info I was able to find about her was that she attended a school just like the one in the book. I have no idea how autobiographical it is but I got the feeling several times that it was quite personal. CONTINUED IN THE COMMENTS 👇🏻

The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden review. 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝 Laura is a combat nurse recovering from injuries she sustained during the Great War when she’s notified that her brother, Freddie, has gone missing on the battlefront. Determined to find her brother, Laura returns to Flanders to work in a private hospital. Freddie endures physical, emotional, and psychological trauma while at the front. Striking up an unlikely friendship with an enemy soldier, Freddie starts to be eaten alive by his ghosts. With both siblings witnessing some of the worst of humanity they struggle to find their way back to each other. And even if they do, their lives will never be the same. 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝 This is one of those stories where I just kept stopping and admiring the brilliance of it. The perfect blend of a Victorian ghost story on a modern battlefield. The mix of ideas moving from one period to the next mixed in with old world superstitions into a modern world is just *chef’s kiss*. There’s characters you love, loathe, and love to loathe. Explores the ideas of PTSD before we had a really hard time understanding of it and draws a light on one of the least talked about wars of the last century. Just absolutely masterfully put together. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. #book #books #bookstagram #booklover #booktok #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookreader #bookrecommendation #bookreviewer #bookreviews #thegreatwar #worldwar1 #ghost #ghoststory

#bookreview | IEP JĀLTOK: POEMS FROM A MARSHALLESE DAUGHTER by Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner * read for the #PasifikaReadathonChallenge by @pacificislanderbooks * IEP JĀLTOK, the first collection of poetry published by a Marshallese author, is a bit of an uneven collection, but ultimately still a rewarding experience that will be many readers’ (including my own) introduction to Marshallese writing and interests. IEP JALTOK roughly follows the chronology of Jetnil-Kijiner’s life. After a few rather confusing poems featuring Marshallese folklore, she reflects on her childhood on the islands. The most resonant poem here, for me, was one in which Jetnil-Kijiner talks about growing up loving Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books and wanting to be her, then getting older and being dismayed at the use of blackface and the treatment of natives. I found this poem so powerful because it succinctly encapsulates the problems that lack of representation has on many POC readers’ childhoods: we, having lacked books featuring characters that looked and lived like us, turned as so many do to iconic white characters, thus absorbing and perpetuating oppressive beliefs about POC. The collection then moves to the years that Jetnil-Kijiner spent growing up in Hawaii and California, living away from the Marshall Islands because of, I presume, economic reasons. This was for me the most powerful part of the collection. Jetnil-Kijiner writes about the microaggressions she experienced as a Micronesian living in Hawaii; about gut-wrenching scenes of displacement, longing, and disconnect set in airports or hospitals. In the final part, Jetnil-Kijiner moves back to the islands, gets married, raises her daughter. Themes about climate change, living with the aftereffects of the atomic bomb trials conducted nearby, and loss of culture are most prevalent here. The writing style is straightforward—if read aloud, one might not be able to distinguish it from prose. It’s not the most impressive or affecting poetry collection I’ve ever read, but I was grateful for the opportunity to get a glimpse into Marshallese identity and concerns from an #OwnVoices author-activist. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5

I have been in love with the characters Letizia writes from Desserts for Stressed people…. I did ever think anyone could take the place Shane has in my heart, No I did not…. Sorry Shane, but Logan and his piglets have done just that! This was a rollercoaster of emotions for me, as a fellow member of the human anxiety club, I understand Logan, and the want to do it all, and feel like you are failing. And I connect with Primrose, never feeling like I fit the required womanly “type”.  Throw this bubbly out going woman in with the grumpy Vegan farmer and they are explosive in all the right ways. And the Spice, thank you Letizia for this. I think I highlighted most of Chapter 31, IYKYK…. GUYS YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK🌸💀 I went into this completely blind and it blew me away. A Victorian gothic thriller combined with Greek mythology and supernatural elements - what more could you want?! I had no idea where this story was going and it kept me so intrigued! I also loved the pairing of unlikely allies. I read this in a day. It centres around a theatre where unnatural things keep happening. It’s full of strong, empowering female characters and is maybe on the horror side too?! Rachel enjoyed "Fortune Favors the Dead" by Stephen Spotswood. Hey my book-loving mammals.🌼 I thought it was time for my first actual review. She screamed at me when I walked by my bookshelf so here we go. 🫶 . . I am quite SHOCKED that this book is not more talked about. “Little Deadly Secrets” by Pamela Crane had me turning pages and I couldn’t put it down. This book is about three best friends who met in college and their friendship lasted all the way into adulthood. Nothing could come between these three except past mistakes, betrayal and murder. . . It is a faced paced, multiple 1st person POV. I found the writing engaging and not overly descriptive. The dialogues were entertaining and kept me interested. This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. If you are interested in a faced paced thriller that throws in little twists here and there this one will be for you. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely read more by Pamela Crane. 💕 #bibliophile #bookcommunity #readersofinstagram #bookrecommendation #bookstagramcommunity #readmorebooks #bookaholic #booknerd #booksofinstagram #booklove #bookaddict #bookrecs #booklover #recs #thriller #fastpaced #review #bookreview

🎉 📚 FCB BOOK OF THE WEEK 📚 🎉 Happy book birthday to The Last Murder at the End of the World, the latest from best-selling author (and an FCB staff fave) Stuart Turton! Is this a murder mystery? Yes. Is it post-apocalyptic sci-fi? Also yes. Is it a wild ride full of twists, turns, and a boat-load of fun? Absolutely yes!! "Outside the island there is nothing: the world was destroyed by a fog that swept the planet, killing anyone it touched. On the island: it is idyllic. One hundred and twenty-two villagers and three scientists, living in peaceful harmony. The villagers are content to fish, farm and feast, to obey their nightly curfew, to do what they're told by the scientists. Until, to the horror of the islanders, one of their beloved scientists is found brutally stabbed to death. And then they learn that the murder has triggered a lowering of the security system around the island, the only thing that was keeping the fog at bay. If the murder isn't solved within 92 hours, the fog will smother the island - and everyone on it. But the security system has also wiped everyone's memories of exactly what happened the night before, which means that someone on the island is a murderer - and they don't even know it. And the clock is ticking." We are READY to dive into this genre-bending story, and we want y'all to join us! This week, get your SIGNED* copy for 15% off in-store or at friendlycitybooks.com! Happiness Falls by Angie Kim ☆☆☆ It is 2020, COVID is rampant, and the father of the Korean-American Park family goes missing on a seemingly random Tuesday morning. The family’s lives are upended in the wake of their fathers disappearance, including twin siblings Mia and John and their younger brother Eugene who returns from the park he and his dad frequented bloodied, alone, and without his father. Happiness Falls follows the ensuing investigation into the disappearance of Adam Parson and how the Park family and their secrets may have played a role in why he went missing. Eugene, the youngest son, is autistic and has Angelman syndrome which prevents him from being able to communicate verbally. This complicates the investigation as Eugene was the last person to see his father, and also makes the authorities suspicious of him as well as the Park family. This book combined two of my favorite genres: mystery and family drama. There were plenty of shocking twists and the book posed many deep, philosophical questions about the assumptions we make about language, race, disabilities, immigrants, our family, and ourselves. I love that one of the reasons Angie Kim wrote this book was to highlight that “just because you can’t speak doesn’t mean you can’t think or understand.” Eugene and his disabilities play a large role in the treatment of the Park family throughout the investigation into the disappearance of their father. Eugene is labelled as “non-verbal” and the novel explores the implications of this title and how harmful it can be when thinking about how people express themselves and the limitations we place on others. This novel also focused on the aspect of happiness: what it means to be happy and how we can make ourselves and our family happier. As a family deeply affected by a child with a disability, how does this create guilt and resentment with the other siblings Mia and John as well as within their parents themselves? Happiness Falls beautifully captured the complexity and love of a family that is still learning to communicate with each other.

📚 BOTM Review: THE PARADISE PROBLEM 🌺 By Christina Lauren 💕 Romance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m telling you, if you’re looking for the perfect beach read this summer, it’s got to be THE PARADISE PROBLEM. I devoured this fun, spicy romance that’s set on a luxury tropical island and has alllll the tropes: fake dating, marriage of convenience, one bed, billionaire, slow burn, AND opposites attract. 😍 Anna is a free-spirited, down on her luck artist who, four years before, married a fellow student to get subsidized family housing. Now she finds out that her roommate was grocery store heir Liam West - and in fact, they are still married. And Liam needs Anna’s help: he needs to appear happily married at his little sister’s destination wedding, and offers Anna a large sum to act the part. This was a really fun book and I enjoyed every page. My only real gripe: what Anna calls Liam’s peen. Please stop. #christinalauren #theparadiseproblem #romancebooks #botm #bookreview #bookofthemonth #bookrecommendation #watchskyeread

Each of the stories has a little bit of twist but not as twisted as the Grimms' Brothers Tales. The book consists of 12 fairytales. Also, the twist of each story is a combination of common sense meet logical thinking with a hit of magical. That is my best description 😅 for example, The Little Mermaid, who the heck in their right mind make a decision to throw their life away for someone you don't even really know. 📚"Snow White with the red hair"📚 Hello booklovers and happy Wednesday! Read this if you loved: "Freiren" Genre: manga Age group: young adult My rating: 3.75/5 💬Have you read "Snow White with the red hair" by Sorata Akiduki or do you want to pick it up? In "Snow White with the red hair, Vol. 1" by Sorata Akiduki, we meet herbalist Shirayuki, who's known for her red hair. This catches the attention of the prince of Tanbarun, who wants Shirayuki as a concubine. She refuses to be the prince's possession and escapes the country. In the woods of neighbouring kingdom, Shirayuki meets Zen and his friends who help her out. Who really are the mysterious Zen? "Snow White with the red hair" had been on my radar for years. I liked the first volume, but I didn't love it. From the summary, I thought it would pack a bigger punch and that it would say something important about life as a female in a kingdom like Tanbarun. The pacing of the story drags a bit, and I saw the way conflicts were resolved coming. That said, I think the first volume lays a good groundwork for the volumes to come. It was a good balance between character development and light-hearted moments. All in all, I liked the first volume of "Snow White with the red hair". I will continue the series, but it won't be my first priority.

📚"Ordinary Monsters"📚 Hello bookish friends and happy Tuesday! Read this if you loved: Ransom Riggs' books Genre: fantasy Age group: adult My rating: 3.5/5 💬Have you read "Ordinary Monsters" by J.M. Miro or do you want to pick it up? "Ordinary Monsters" by J.M. Miro is the first installment in the series "The talents". Charlie Ovid is imprisoned in Mississippi during the 1880s. There, Charlie has suffered abuse, but not a scar is shown on his body. Charlie has the ability to heal himself. Marlowe, who's a foundling, can melt or mend flesh. Detective Alice Quicke is enlisted to find Charlie and Marlowe. She's tasked to bring them to a boarding school for talented children in Scotland. We follow the three of them on a dangerous journey from the US to the UK. The premise of "Ordinary Monsters" sounded like it was up my street: kids with talents who attend a boarding school during the 1880s. Yes, please! Sadly, the book didn't capture me and I struggled to finish it. I enjoyed the first part of the book where we get to know Charlie, Marlowe, and Alice. After that, the story started to move in circles. There are too many fight scenes, and too much is thrown in. I think Miro tried to do too much and the book should have been 200 pages shorter. Luckily, the other books in the series are shorter. Because of that, I will continue the series. Don't get me wrong, the story is well written. Miro does a great job with the characters. That said, I wished he captured the atmosphere of 1880s Edinburgh and London more. So much could be done with that! All in all, "Ordinary Monsters" was too long-winded for me.
