Low mood today & feeling out of control. Typically, this would set me into a relapse of SH, but i'm determined not to go down that path. Instead, I got myself up, made my bed, took my medication, and had breakfast. Wasn't able to eat much due to my reduced appetite, but I still got enough to fuel my body for the time being, so that's progress in comparison to my history. I think the only thing I can do right now is live in the moment as even thinking about tomorrow is too much pressure. This is the first of my experiments into mirroring the inside of glass vessels that have been blown inside a cage of spiralling barbed wire to encase the glass within. The narrative behind this, and it is an evolving series, is to highlight the altered sense of self that is symptomatic of Borderline Personality Disorder, caused by childhood trauma. When the viewer looks upon themselves using the piece as a mirror, the reflection is skewed and distorted due to the effect that the barbed wire has had, where it threatens to pierce the skin of the vessel. As someone who struggles with BPD on a daily basis, I am hoping to shine some light on the subject of cluster B disorders and help to create a narrative around personality disorders.
