After a visit to a local hospital, our instructor shared some valuable insights from their class trip: Our students are learning to identify early signs of depression and effective coping strategies. Seeing the challenges faced by hospitalized individuals firsthand is truly eye-opening. 🎶 “It’s all the same… only the names have changed…”🎶 #iykyk Here’s my WHY… It’s always been said that a picture is worth 1000 words. Looking back over some photos I took earlier at work, I came across this spectacular moment and realized that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. This face is WHY I do what I do! This mama has watched her kids grow up while she worked long nights just to keep them fed and clothed. Homeownership was just a mere hope. To this, years later. It’s not something you take for granted. And if you do, you’re in the wrong business. This is EPIC. We all should be supporting causes like this. Our homeless population is only going to rise with the cost of rent and inflation. Be a part of something bigger than yourself, whatever that might be. But I can guarantee you one thing: no time volunteering is ever “wasted time.” And if you’re needing a tax write-off as you’re filing that extension, think of donating some of that to your local @habitatforhumanity. To celebrate his 80th birthday, Altona local Ray (in the middle of the photo) cycled from Albury to Altona in May 2024 to raise funds for @lostdogshome! This incredible ride covered 344 km over three days, starting from Albury Railway Station and ending in his hometown of Altona, raising money for The Lost Dogs' Home. “I’ve had 79 birthdays, and most were insignificant,” Ray said. “This year I wanted to do something special for the community and memorable for me. I’ve been a dog lover all my life." We are saddened to share that in the early hours of May 21st, Beddington Theatre Arts Centre was vandalized. A masked individual shattered our back door with a large rock - this marks the third incident at BTAC's entrances in recent months. ⁠ ⁠ Adding to this senseless act of vandalism, last week, two of our upper-floor windows were destroyed. ⁠ ⁠ Recently, three laptops—crucial tools for our resident volunteer-based community theatre company, StoryBook Theatre—were stolen from their offices. These laptops were not just devices but essential for this non-profit's day-to-day operations. ⁠ ⁠ The loss and damages of these recent crimes total $20,000. ⁠ ⁠ This is a challenging time for unexpected expenses.
