We went in with 2, potentially 3 men at her beck and call and ended up with six mates ONE OF WHICH HAS FREAKING ORGASM MAGIC. Girl almost has one for every day of the week. Each of these men has the qualities to charm her pants off while keeping her safe on her quest to fight the evil bitch and the creepy god who controls her. Just epic! I will say it was quite long and A LOT happens plot wise so I occasionally found myself rereading parts to make sure I knew what was going on and was having a hard time keeping track of all the places they visited and which happened at each as they came back to a few. Overall, this was a fantastic little love story. Kat and James were adorable together, and although I typically dislike a third-act breakup, the writing of this one was superb. It’s not a breakup as much as a “we need to work on ourselves independently before this relationship can work” situation. It’s much better than miscommunication or, even worse, not communicating at all. Kat and James approached challenges maturely and made relationship choices that set a solid foundation for the future. It was a breath of fresh air to read a romance novel featuring a “healthy” couple, as opposed to one that requires extensive couples therapy to stay together. I also have to say, when I read the synopsis—a love story about a PA falling in love with a movie star—I wasn’t expecting the story to be realistic or relatable. But I was pleasantly surprised. Kat’s and James’ struggles were both relatable and believable. They were downright normal. I loved how James stood up to his father, and Kat followed her dream of becoming an actress. I especially loved how they both became successful despite the verbally abusive and unsupportive people in their lives. For a debut novel, Ivy hit this one out of the park. It can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading book one Wild For You purely because it's a gorgeous book. I loved Erin and Remington's story in book one and couldn't wait to read Chase's story & it did not disappoint. Summer and Chase were brilliant characters with great chemistry, I loved reading about Summer's journey and forging her own path in life, living by her own rules & chasing her dreams not the dream she was expected to have. Chase was the ultimate small town swoon, cop & and cowboy, the perfect combo and fiercely protective and loyal with a heart of gold. This was a sweet, spicy, heart-warming read with a little dose of small town suspense. The support characters really added to the story, I loved catching up with Erin & Remi and seeing where they are now & the female friendship group formed throughout this story was brilliant, plus an adorable dog, I personally think every book should have an adorable dog. A great read that I devoured, I can't wait for book three & loved that the author gave us a little glimpse into Ryan's story. Struggling actor Nico has convinced his girlfriend Lyla to go on a Love Island style reality show. He hopes it'll boost his career and give him the break he's been looking for. Things don't go according to plan when the ship that takes them to the island where The Perfect Couple will be filmed leaves for the night with the first contestant kicked off the show and a big storm rolls in. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I found it to be a mash-up of And Then There Were None and The Lord of the Flies. The author does a great job of giving the reader the claustrophobic feeling of being stranded on an island and builds the tension up in the characters reactions and interactions. I liked the art up of the radio calls in the first part of each chapter in the first section and the diary entries in the second section. It definitely keeps the reader guessing! This book? Five stars all day long. This is a childhood friends to lover, small town, second chance romance. Feels Like Falling is book one in the Blackstone Falls series and follows Ellison (Eddie) and Montana (Max). When Ellison returns to Blackstone Falls for good after a ten-year absence, both her and Montana look to pick up where they left off, but nothing is ever that easy. One thing I really appreciate in a romance book is when the main characters communicate with each other, and this book does not disappoint. There was enough hurt and blame to go around when Ellison moved away from Blackstone Falls for college and left Montana behind. Time gives perspective and secrets are always bound to come to light. Ellison and Montana took the time to really think about what’s important and communicate with each other, and I love that for them. Alexandra has created well-developed and relatable characters who not only embrace their flaws but are determined to learn from them as well. It’s a tale of second chances, forgiveness, and growth. 📚 ARC Review 📚 From the blurb I was expecting House of Shades to be a darkly gothic mystery however I didn't feel that it delivered on this promise. I did find it to be an enjoyable read but while it held some intrigue and a few twists, it lacked the atmospheric feels for me. The story follows Hester, a doctoress who has been charged with the care of Gervaise Cherville. During her four week assignment, Hester must leave her husband and move into Tall Trees. Cherville is wealthy and the pay for her work will provide Hester with the means to give her family the life she's always dreamt of. But Hester soon learns that Cherville's wealth was built on slavery and he's seeking atonement. This is a good, slow burn historical novel and I was invested in the characters of Hester and Cherville. I did find some of the subplots unnecessary and took away from the main theme of the book. By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow. Just wow. This was my first Jodi Picoult book and it for sure won’t be my last. I’ve been told by multiple people to read her books so when I got this ARC, I was so excited. And it lived up to that excitement. The writing… MAN, the writing. It was so good. I sometimes have a hard time connecting to historical fiction books that goes as far back as this one did (1500s-1600s) but Jodi was able to portray the story and develop Emilia in a way that I could not have expected. Emilia’s story was heartbreaking and inspiring. I loved her from the very beginning and my heart was breaking for everything she had to endure. But it was also pumped for every triumph she had. E & S forever 💔 Melina was such a great story too. I thought we’d get more of her story but I am so glad we got what we did for Emilia. Melina was taking after her descendent and paving a way for marginalized groups to get the recognition they deserve. I loved how her story came full circle. And the “cast member” in the wings at the end. Yea I needed tissues. Needless to say, I can’t wait for my next Jodi Piclout book! Release date August 20, 2024! Thank you so much to @evelynsloaneauthor for reaching out and allowing me to have access to the advanced reader copy of her debut novel ‘A Lovely Deadly Muse’. I can honestly say that this is one of the most incredible books I have ever read. The fact that this is Evelyn’s first novel is mind blowing to me, the way she was able to perfectly convey the impact of childhood trauma and the struggles between right and wrong through the dual POV of Leo and Nik in such a captivating way made this book such a pleasure to read. I was hooked from the beginning, I felt like each chapter kept me engaged and showed so much character development that I came to love and appreciate all of the characters for what they brought to the story. It had all of the aspects that I look for in a book: romance (friends to lovers trope), mystery, anti-hero, twisted justice, and spice! Genuinely one of the most well written and unique books I’ve read in a while. Not a big Swifty? All good, it’s not a nauseating fan fiction vibe) ‘Love Story’ follows our main gal pal Sophie, who by day is a small town school teacher, and at night? Y’ALL! I’m struggling to get through the tandem read. Not because they’re bad, though ToD is a bit slower than I’m used to and enjoy for Throne of Glass. They’re just such thicc girls and harder to read on the go or at night because they’re physical copies. • • • Any tips from those who have read through them before? ARC Book Review: Isle of Wolves 🐺✨🩸 Thank you so much @tiffanydaune for including me in your ARC team!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It gave me Pretty Little Liars x Teen Wolf vibes, and my inner teenage self loved it! I loved that this was written about Slavic folklore - Definitely a culture of tales that aren’t often used in modern day Fantasy. It definitely added some uniqueness to the story, and I personally loved that the Slavic translations for words like “wolf” were used throughout the entire book. The plot twists had me actually gasping when they happened. I had so many theories but that was NOT one of them!! So I want to give a round of applause to Tiffany for catching my autistic, pattern learning and plot guessing butt, a genuine surprise plot twist!!! (More than one actually)! And the ending one has me wanting more right this instant!!! The only teeny tiny issue I had with this book was that at the begging, I would have liked some more world building and explaining on certain plot points - i.e how the mothers get pregnant with the children - as things were a bit vague and cryptic, although written beautifully. It was very fast paced, which I usually love, but sometimes I think tiny details to add to the lore of the Isle would have been really helpful! Overall, if you love anything to do with witches & werewolves, love tropes including fated mates, duty vs desire and hunter vs hunted, you should 100% pick up this book! ❤️
