I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mom. She always supported and nurtured my passions. I developed a love of history at a young age, and we had lots of visits to historical sites, museums, and also to the American Girl Doll Boutique and Bistro. We had just finished a tour at a museum one day, when they told us about the joiner docent program they had. This museum was an hour way from our house, but we hadn’t found anything like it closer, so she would drive me there several times a month so I could volunteer. While I was in the jr. docent program, I learned about historical reenactment, living history, and historical dance groups. I wanted to do it all, but due to my young age, a parent needed to stay with me. She got us a tent, fabric to make clothes, and drove us to re-enactments. She slept on a cot and cooked food with me over an open fire. It was while I was at these events that I made connections which would lead me to my first job as Director of Education at the @negahistorycenter While I was working there she became one of my most devoted and dependable volunteers, even though the drive was not short. If another volunteer canceled last minute, I could call her at 11pm and she would be there the next morning. During my last week working at the @negahistorycenter she was there with me, volunteering to help with the last field trips I would facilitate there, using the outfits and knowledge we had both gained along the way. (Photos above) I am so thankful to have her as my mother. And that she was willing to put aside her own comfort (sleeping outside and wearing costume is not exactly her thing) so I could be where I am today, living my dreams, working in the history museum field. #reenactment #livinghistory #livinghistorymuseum #historicalcostuming #museumlife
What a wonderful weekend at the @templeatwarshow Us Guys and Girl of the 'Fallschirmjäger 3rd regiment 2nd kompanie 1FJD' joined forces with the '1st Fallschirmjäger Division Greuen Teufel Reenactment Group' to do a display. Good job we portray the Italian front in our tropical uniform , as it was a super hot weekend , with both days fully sunny which was great for attracting the crowds of public , we were very busy talking about our kit , especially the star of the pitch Greta the Kubelwagen ! ❤️ We got involved in the battlefield display too , ferrying heavy kit and using Greta as cover once she'd been 'blown up' by a bazooka. Na ihr lieben, Ich melde mich auch mal wieder. Ich habe endlich die Zeit gefunden euch die Bilder zu zeigen aus dem Slawendorf Brandenburg an der Havel. Die Bilder sind gemacht von dinge_wie_ich_sie_sehe. Ich habe endlich die Gelegenheit gehabt mit den Tonkessel angemessen zu arbeiten. Mit der besten Kulisse die man haben kann. Im Garten hatte ich den vorher nur einmal angefeuert. Wie ihr seht ich sammel auch erste Erfahrungen im Umgang mit dem Tonkessel. Ich muss sagen ich bin sehr begeistert. Die Töne sind sehr kräftig. Alles andere werde ich bei Zeiten vergleichen können. Mit diesem Kessel habe ich ein weiteres Ziel geschafft. Ein größerer Tonkessel wird derzeit gemacht und muss nur noch den Feldbrand überstehen. Ich liebe es mit Natur zu arbeiten Mein nächstes Ziel wird die Feuerstelle sein. Daran werde ich die nächsten Monate arbeiten und mir selbst das passende raussuchen. !!! Ich färbe sie nach euren Wünschen und Farbvorstellung sowie Wollstoff. Wollstoffe und Wollgarne aus Schafsschurwolle sind mein Hauptgebiet. Ich durfte 2022 schöne Erfahrungen sammeln. New additions to the German impression! - The spanner to mount an mg34 onto the Laffette tripod. Kept within the MG gunners pouch, this would be on hand incase their MG was needed in a mounted position. The soldiers eagerly took the opportunity to have a momentary rest, especially during the hot Croatian summer days. The photo shows equipment used by soldiers from the reconnaissance platoon. As much as I love my collection of 20th-century vintage, I probably spend <50% of my days in it. I'm often in 1770s and '80s garb for my job at @homestead_museum and my weekends with @the_official_warners_regiment, or in pre-modern kit of all kinds for @scasocial events. I've shared a couple of images over the last day or two which were taken at a photoshoot yesterday. The truth is that these were taken for a reason and the promotion of a specific event! On the 29th and 30th of June me and my group Tournaments of Maximilian will be at @bosworthbattlefield, running an event with our friends @tempusphenix and Bellum Fraternum. This event is a fusion of harnischfechten and living history. The Saturday will consist of an immersive experience where the modern public will experience what it might have been like to be a guest at a tournament in the 1490s, and the Sunday will consist of interactive talks and workshops. Over time we plan to make the event bigger and better, and it's our goal to set a new standard of re-enactment events in the UK. Crimson Trace Laser Grips - SIG P226 / L105-L105A2 Finally got around to fitting these grips that I got off @tfdragon_ way back last year...and in all honesty I did forget I bought them 😅. Thankfully nothing too complex to fit then to this WE replica, ideally I'd like to get a better quality replica and one that is the earlier model with a non railed frame as seen during the Iraq days (railed 226s came around in afghan to my knowledge). The CTC grips were definitely a tacti-cool accessory of the late 90s and early 2000s that surprisingly found a small resurgence in the late 2010s yet again with UKSF only this time with their Glocks. Using 2 'watch style' batteries they around the user to activate a laser grip on the right hand side of the firearm to help with aiming, realistically its to help with point shooting or 'reactive shots' as in an ideal world you'd just use the sights as per tradition. They are also rubberised in texture to help keep a hold on the firearm in adverse conditions.
