A few days ago I heard on the radio that a gorilla in Indonesia got badly wounded in a fight and afterwards made a paste of plants and put his own brew on his wound. It healed quickly. The same medicinal plants are used as a natural antibiotic in a nearby village. There is a natural connection and understanding of nature and a knowing that it supplies for all our wounds & needs. I also feel disconnected often but I'm trying to restore and remember. In other ways I do see the power of plants & nature every day and try to implement it daily, internally and externally. Alchemilla and eternal beauty There is a plant that grows in the high meadows of the Pyrenees called Alchemilla Vulgaris, also know as Lady’s Mantle or Pie de Leon. The droplets of dew that collect in its leaves were once believed to hold the secret to eternal beauty. Its relationship to beauty is more likely to come from the plant’s high tannin content, mainly found in the stalks, that makes it a strong astringent and gives it its skin firming properties. Its salicylic acid content acts as an anti-inflammatory agent and helps to reduce the appearance of redness and irritation on the skin. Diet preparation for drinking Ayahuasca is important, especially if processed foods, carbonated drinks, fast food and lots of refined sugar make up a large proportion of your diet. We know it can be challenging to make big changes to the way we eat, which is why we ask our participants to do their very best. We do have some none negotiables, and help guide people towards alternatives and replacements that are diet friendly. Many people ask why the diet is important. For us there are two main factors; to help clear the body of toxins and other stimulants to create a cleaner pathway for the medicine to work and, to show respect, commitment and discipline to the plants in preparation to imbibe this sacred medicine. On retreat, we continue to follow the diet guidelines. We use local, fresh organic ingredients and pour our love into making creative, delicious and nutritious food that looks amazing. We typically serve it home style so you can decide what dishes take your fancy and how much you want to eat. We cater for all dietary preferences and intolerances, and have an abundance of fresh Pipas (coconut water) to drink daily.
