Anxiety can be a constant battle for many of us. Having it to a degree when it affects daily function and the ability to just do normal things sucks and it's hard to explain. 😅 Dealing with it for at least 20 years, I've learned that grounding is one of the best ways to get past those panicky feelings. Grounding can happen in loads of different ways, but it's just the act of engaging with the senses in the present. Painting has been a fun way to lean into that 🎨🖌(But start with getting the idea of perfect out of the equation. This is just about the process, and there's no such thing as perfect to begin with!!!) Grounding is all about noticing and breaking everything down to its smaller parts. Notice the movement of each brush stroke, notice each color and how they change when mixed together, notice layers, and how each creates depth. That's how we become present and how we can detach from anxious, frustrating thoughts 🔆 The cool bit is that this type of practice works for any activity, whatever brings us joy! ENDING TIME La forêt de mon cœur. Petit monde fait de mousses moelleuses et de reflets vif-argents pénétrant à travers les feuillages. Dans cette forêt j’ai vu passer les saisons, célébré leurs rituels qui chantent dans mon sang de celte. J’en ai écumé les chemins et les sentes à toute heure, plaquant mes paumes sur de vieilles écorces, dansant parmi les arbres, revenant toujours telle une enfant les poches pleines de trésors. C’est un petit bois de sorcière où la vie danse, un peu plus fort qu’ailleurs. J’y ai remarché avec une canne, vieille dame au pas précautionneux après plusieurs mois paralysée dans mon lit, quelques jours avant d’être à nouveau enfermée par une pandémie. J’y ai fui avant qu’on nous relâche officiellement, ayant la chance d’emporter mes enfants vers les arbres et les trouées ensoleillées, retrouvant la liberté qui n’avait jamais été aussi douce. C’est un deuil, assorti d’autres, de voir ma famille en partir. Je n’entendrai plus le doux murmure des chouettes les nuits d’été, le glapissement du renard dont je ne traquerai plus la sente. Mes pieds ne danseront le long du rond de sorcière que j’aime tant, ni mes paumes se plaqueront sur l’écorce calcinée du grand chêne foudroyé, totem des grandes chasses aux trésor de l’été. Mais d’autres sentiers attendent les miens. Et moi aussi. Je laisse les fougères caresser mes poignets.
