🕺It’s time to move those bodies folks!! Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness week in the UK, which is run by the Mental Health Foundation and this year’s theme is movement. We all know that exercise is great for our mental health, but it doesn’t have to be anything too strenuous for you to start to feel the benefits and release those happy hormones. Here are a few things you can try whilst in the office to get you moving a bit more and boost your mental wellbeing: ✅Use a standing desk instead of sitting all day ✅Encourage walk and talk meetings. If you don’t need screens or laptops for your meeting, get outside instead. ✅Go and talk to your colleague in the office instead of sending an e-mail (this boosts your communication and relationship building skills too!) ✅Set an alert to get up from your desk and go for a quick walk around the office every 30 mins ✅If you’re taking a call on your mobile, get up and walk around whilst talking. ✅Go for a walk or jog during your lunch break ✅Do some squats whilst waiting for the kettle to boil or your coffee to pour or warming your lunch up. ✅If you drive to work, park your car further away from your office. 5 of the key ideas we share at Growing With Gratitude are: -gratitude -empathy -positive reflection -self-awareness -ownership And the great news about these 5 is they can be practiced. And this evening under 14 players who are doing their @dukeofedaus at @modburyvistasc Modbury Vista Soccer Club practiced these skills. The players learnt about these ideas through participating in games and activities. And one thing, which often gets forgotten is discussing the purpose of the practice. 👋, this week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, prompting me to share my story with you. Three years ago, I founded The Space Curator after realising the profound impact cluttered, disorganised spaces had on my own mental well-being. Creating systems to maintain a clutter-free home not only brought calmness to my mind but also allowed for more 'ME' time which further improved my mindset. "I transformed my passion into my business, aiming to empower others by instilling a sense of tranquillity within their spaces and minds. As I embarked on my new career, I soon realised that many of my clients were caught in a relentless cycle, constantly chasing their tails. A lack of time equated to a lack of systems, resulting in chaotic spaces and, consequently, compromised mental well-being. I also noticed that for women, despite juggling full-time jobs, were still expected to shoulder the responsibilities of homemaking, leading to fatigue and burnout. This prompted a deeper reflection: why should one individual bear the sole burden of home maintenance? It became evident to me that implementing systems empowered entire households to share in this responsibility. Fall in love with yourself first ♥️ Holidays are great, we can all agree there. BUT travelling so stressful and scary and overwhelming- little things really stack up and negatively impact your trip. SO!! Here are my top three tips to stay mindful and take care of your mental health while away from home ✈️ 1) Schedule sensibly: The urge to squeeze in as many activities as possible to make the most of time away is real, but over-booking is a breakdown waiting to happen. Plan in only the most important things, then see how you feel with the rest of your time 2) Stay connected: Keeping in touch with your nearest and dearest back home is a great way to stay grounded and get support. A quick call or message can do wonders for your psychological state  3) Pace yourself: Exploring somewhere new tends to have us walking a lot more than we would at home, but physically overexerting yourself is a recipe for exhaustion and discomfort. Keep in mind you're only human, and listen to your body Going to a different place shouldn't consist of just racing around madly, ticking off every possible attraction to make the folks back home jealous. Still in our series on forgiveness, let's start the week by reading this Bible verse.  Colossians 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you have a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Forgiving others can feel much easier than forgiving ourselves. When we experience guilt, we often get trapped in a spiral of our own feelings. Instead of having that conversation with another person, we start listening to our inner critics—and they’re not so forgiving. Self-forgiveness, however, is not about ignoring accountability. To me, self-forgiveness is a way to hold myself accountable while understanding that I will fall short of my own expectations and goals sometimes. This allows me to shake it off and keep moving instead of getting stuck in a cycle of self-criticism. Self-compassion means that we treat ourselves just as gently as we would a friend. We recognize that we’re feeling down and are mindful about alleviating that pain. That might mean easing our expectations, doing something nice for ourselves, or validating our own emotions. When we’re self-compassionate, self-forgiveness comes much more easily. That’s because we’re able to put our failures into perspective. We recognize that while we may have disappointed ourselves in some way, it’s not because we are inherently bad or incapable people. Repeat after me! Self-forgiveness starts with self-compassion.
