Popping in to show off all the work I got done this week. NONE! I keep repeating to myself you are not your productivity. (Rocking in the corner ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ) This week is always a bit of a mental challenge for me....mothers day. I have a complicated relationship with motherhood. I adore my children, they are my sun on cloudy days. Being a mom is the most fullfulling and challenging thing I will ever do. But I am estranged from my mother for almost 9 years with no contact. It's a long messy story as all family stories are. But every year I think of her...a lot...probably too much. Good memories, traumatic memories, grief over the missed time, anger about choices that had to be made, so many conflicting emotions. Then this week we added some regular life stress with my youngest being sick and our other business needing attention. Does anyone else feel like they get extra challenges right when you don't need them!? Needless the say between the mental emotional gymnastics, lack of sleep, and excess of worry my creative engine has cooled. I keep telling myself that it's OK to take a beat, I will be better for it. This is what a dysregulated nervous system looks like ๐Ÿ–ค this was me over a month ago after undesirable online interactions that took me by surprise and put me in a heavily dysregulated state. I went through several trauma responses of freeze, flight and fawnโ€ฆ It wrecked my nervous system as I was still recovering from my depression + hormonal imbalance before - In other words, I felt pretty fckd up. I prioritized my mental health by taking some time for me to regulate myself which is why I havenโ€™t been able to post on here. Am feeling better lately due to skating regularly + doing other daily practices mentioned in the MNSTR method. What does it mean to be dysregulated tho? Emotional dysregulation and a dysregulated nervous system often coexist and can exacerbate each other, forming a complex interplay between emotional experiences and physiological responses. A common sign of an overactive, dysregulated nervous system is heightened sensitivity to stimuli. For exp: individuals may experience increased irritability, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, or trouble focusing. They may tend to feel overwhelmed or easily triggered by everyday situations. Have you felt this way before? Sharing this post as a reminder to prioritize your mental health, if you are dysregulated please take care of yourself and that may be time away from social media as it could be highly toxic for those who are hurting. Check In- You Good?! I think people expect others to check in and to make a conscious effort to make sure their people are ok. In theory, this is great but in reality itโ€™s just not what happens. You canโ€™t expect someone to check in with you every single day or even once a week. People are just busy. They have their own shit going on and they are often just trying to get through each day with their own stuff. Itโ€™s not because they donโ€™t care. So YOU need to be responsible for yourself and your actions. I know itโ€™s hard to ask for help or to ask for someoneโ€™s time. You donโ€™t want to seem like a burden. You donโ€™t even know how to ask for help since youโ€™ve always had to do everything on your own. It can feel scary and I know that there are people or organizations that you finally muster up the strength to ask, and then you get let down. Donโ€™t give up. We have organizations listed on our website that can help. If you reach out to us, we will do our part but you have to do your part as well. This is a community effort to truly change the trajectory of mental health and to reduce the suicide numbers. There are a ton of non profits out there but we all need to truly collaborate- we are all after the same mission- to change and save lives. This is something I have been trying to remind myself, I am someone who tends to over explain everything, especially if it's something I am saying no to, it's part of my anxiety; I am realising that I get my validation from others not through myself and what I really want to learn is that I don't need to explain why I don't want to do something, I can just say no and save the energy. Whatโ€™s up guys, itโ€™s Josie. Weโ€™ve been quiet on social media but we are busy in the studio finishing the album. We are wrapping up with 17 as we speak and on to sleepless in Chicago. Iโ€™ve been dealing with burn out, lack of motivation and just all around trying to better my mental health. Iโ€™ve lost a lot of weight (80 pounds in a year) and continuing to reach my goal. Itโ€™s been a struggle to keep motivated music wise. Tbh Iโ€™ve been really debating on changing what I do or giving up on it but I feel like I need to keep going. Even when Iโ€™ve had enough of it. I hope the few who follow us stick around. And I hope Koizumi has a bright future. I really do. We are working with a great team and I canโ€™t dismiss that. People ask when the next show is and idk, but hopefully soon. Anyway Iโ€™m rambling. This is a recent photo of myself. Stop scrolling for a lil check-in! My answers: ๐ŸดDid not eat enough earlier in the day but I did eat dinner! I definitely need to prioritize eating better throughout the day. ๐Ÿ’ญ That I canโ€™t wait until a few things on my plate are done with! Iโ€™ve been so so busy and stressed. ๐Ÿฅฑ I feel well rested! Iโ€™ve been going to bed by 10:30 every night and sleeping through the night. ๐ŸŒณ Spent about 20 minutes outside today which was NOT enough. Welcome back to #day7 of #mentalhealthawareness month and I hope you're all doing well. For body we have nourish - and I tried a lot of new food today and formed a lot of new opinions about things i do and don't like. I had some amazing veggies in my lunch and I'm looking forward to a hearty flavorful dinner with my honey tonight. Heart is a free space so I chose to spend some time looking at old photos and videos and toying with a new scrapbook idea. Mind was also a free space so I did some laundry and started tidying up before my vacation because I know this will make the rest of the week smoother and I had a little extra energy today. Community is connect with your people and I'm so glad this one keeps coming up - I have so many different "types" of friends. My long distance peeps, my writer friends, my creative friends, people I met through Starbucks, and so on - this reminds me to really make the most of my time and to appreciate everyone in my life that I'm so lucky to have.
