I made a promise to myself a long time ago that no matter how I felt on the inside, I would always make an effort with my appearance. This is why, you’ll probably not be able to tell that this photo was taken about 2 weeks after I’d given birth to my youngest and about 2 weeks and 1 day after I’d split up with his dad. I’m not saying that a bit of lipstick helped me heal from my c-section more quickly or that it can mend a broken heart, it won’t. What it does do is remind me to look after myself. It reminds me that I matter. As a solo mother and a teacher, so much of my life is about meeting the needs of other people. My daily mini-pamper sessions are often the only guaranteed time I have for myself. I really cherish that time because it’s a daily reminder that as well as Mama and Miss, I’m Naomi too. How I went from playing small to showing up fully ⬇️ To start, I finally started getting super uncomfortable for not showing up bigger. My higher self started calling me and when I didn’t listen that was what started to be uncomfortable for me. I started with baby steps and instead of being nervous or scared I became instantly empowered. This feeling felt so amazingly that now I was pumped about taking bigger steps towards my fear and vulnerability. In just a short time I had empowered myself, built courage and confidence. One of the best parts of this is that I know by showing up vulnerably and raw, I’m giving all the other people out there who are just waiting to take those first steps towards their true selves permission to do so. For me, it's all about visualizing the possibilities, stretching just a little further each day, and keeping my eyes fixed on the future I dream of. There are moments of doubt, moments when the weight of the journey feels unbearable. But it's in those moments that I cling to my "why" – the reason I embarked on this journey in the first place. It's the fuel that keeps me moving forward, even when every step feels like a struggle. I remember ten years ago, when I made the difficult decision to start my bachelor's degree all over again after immigrating to Canada. It was a painful and daunting process, but I held onto the vision of a brighter future – one where my Canadian degree would open doors to new opportunities, secure a stable job, and help me settle in my new home. And now, as I navigate the challenges of running my online business, I face criticism, doubt, and negativity from others. But through it all, I hold onto the vision of the future that this business holds for me. It's a vision of success, of financial stability, of creating something meaningful – and it's what keeps me grounded and motivated to keep pushing forward, no matter what. So today, my motivation is as strong as ever. It's the unwavering belief in the power of perseverance, the resilience to overcome any obstacle, and the determination to never give up on my dreams. Slow down, pause and take a breath. When was the last time you became aware of your breath and just be? What do you notice? How do you really feel? Where can you feel the breath within your body? Notice and observe the depth of your breath? This is just a small snippet of mindfulness meditation but it can be hugely impactful just by pausing and bringing our awareness to the breath, back to the present moment. Meditation doesn’t have to be sat still hours on end in a complicated cross legged pose, it can be for a 1minite, 2, 3, 4, 5 minutes, it can be whenever,, wherever and whatever you make it for your own individual needs. Sometimes we think it’s about stopping thoughts, when in reality thoughts will be there, but they will come and they will go. As we tune into the breath we can use this an anchor to come back to, a focus point during times of stress, anxiety, panic or maybe even taking that time out from a hectic day.
