I made a promise to myself a long time ago that no matter how I felt on the inside, I would always make an effort with my appearance.
This is why, you’ll probably not be able to tell that this photo was taken about 2 weeks after I’d given birth to my youngest and about 2 weeks and 1 day after I’d split up with his dad.
I’m not saying that a bit of lipstick helped me heal from my c-section more quickly or that it can mend a broken heart, it won’t.
What it does do is remind me to look after myself.
It reminds me that I matter.
As a solo mother and a teacher, so much of my life is about meeting the needs of other people.
My daily mini-pamper sessions are often the only guaranteed time I have for myself.
I really cherish that time because it’s a daily reminder that as well as Mama and Miss, I’m Naomi too.
I need that connection to myself so yes, I do make the effort to do it even when I’m not feeling my best and I’ll probably be putting my lipstick on when I’m on my death bed.😂
