When the intuition to go to Peru came, I had 1,000,000 reasons to choose not to. It didn’t make sense…the voice of my rational mind made sure I knew it was not practical. I had already invested a large part of the money I had left in my savings in the shamanic-training program, already taken a huge leap of faith in my intuition. Now spend the rest of my savings going to Peru with no plan?? My rational mind was throwing a fit. And I had some intense messaging of doubt coming from my external reality, too - loved ones whose minds couldn’t rationalize my choice either. I came up against intense pushback, the activation of self-doubt, and the temptation into fear and staying small. I had every reason not to go, and only one reason to say yes - my intuition. Somewhere deep inside me, beyond the reaches of my rational mind, I felt the call of life, of my Soul, beckoning me into an experience that promised so much more than the rational mind, the self-doubt, and the fear could offer. Going to Peru ended up being the most practical thing I could have done because it put me exactly where I needed to be - in the energetics of the life experience I was searching for. Dropping into the energetics of the life I was yearning to live opened my creative capacity in a way I had never experienced before. This was the result of saying yes to my Soul…what I have learned since that decision and the 100’s of other Soul-affirming decisions I’ve made since then, is that every time we say yes, our Soul presence grows, our trust in her becomes more embodied, and life starts to feel a whole lot more magical than our precious rational minds could have imagined. The combination of understanding my astrological birth chart paired with the potent energies of these lands that reflect the creative potential of my Soul have activated my Soul Spark. There is a real joy in starting something new; an excitement; a chance to do something different. But completing long-term goals, requires a whole different set of traits and skills. . As my mind wandered off thinking about all the things I’d like to be doing this weekend other than studying, I asked myself WHY, 2.5 years into my degree, I had not given up. It’s not like I’m close to finishing - I’m barely over half-way through. So what is it that keeps me committed, when there are plenty of perfectly viable excuses to have given up (work pressures, an existing, successful career, family commitments etc)? . There are many reasons why we stay motivated to achieving our goals: From external rewards and internal desires to fears of failing and absolute necessity. In this case though, I’ve my grandmother to thank. Today would have been my grandmother’s birthday. She’s been gone for 15 years now. We have been wired to worry in this human world. To fear everything. To question our every move. But the ego fear mind is overriding the heart and soul when you allow it to do this. It’s not your highest path. It’s upon you to see it, recognize what it is doing, and put a stop to it. To let go of all that fear and be in the peaceful present moment. Because when you can surrender the mind, clarity will come. Be patient, calm and trust. Don’t be checking your watch. Go enjoy your life. You will know exactly when to act and what to do. When you suddenly know - don’t let the mind control it either - taking you off course. Relax and trust the guidance. Even if it doesn’t make sense or makes you nervous or uncomfortable. If it comes in clearly, “out of the blue”, and feels good - GO! Act before the brain talks you out of it! The mind is overprotective, and scared of life. It has been conditioned to believe that it is unsafe. So keep navigating away from that. You are always safe when you are divinely connected! Breathe. Trust. Ask for guidance and stop thinking. Find some gratitude in the present moment. The release and alignment of the ego is a process. Be patient. Mine was busy last night telling me what it thought I did wrong - don’t let it do that. Recognize it. Stop it. I sat in meditation for a bit and calmed it down. Find what works for you. The mind is only meant to navigate life in this moment. Not to project, relive the past, fear the future, or judge everything. Life is meant to be lived in the present moment, always divinely guided. Following a feeling, a knowing, staying in the flow. Anyone else get totally PARALYZED by their fears sometimes? I'm so over feeling stuck and scared to go after what I really want in life. Can anyone relate? It's like my brain is hardwired to come up with a million worst-case scenarios anytime I try to do something bold: What if I fail epically? What if I get rejected and humiliated? What if I'm just not good enough? Before I know it, I've talked myself out of even trying. Ugh, the struggle is REAL. But you know what? I'm done letting fear run my life. It's time to face this beast head on. Here's the deal, fear is something every human deals with. It's normal and nothing to be ashamed about. Recognizing that takes away some of its power already. Then we got look under the hood you know? Understand where OUR specific fears are even coming from, past experiences, deep insecurities, society BS, you name it. Shining a light on the roots makes it feel more manageable. Most of our fears are just irrational thoughts about something that isn't even reality. So we got to separate mind monkeys from facts. And here's the hard truth. Facing our fears creates discomfort. But HELLO, no growth or greatness happens by playing it safe forever. That discomfort is the price we pay to live bravely. Finally, let's go easier on ourselves. Having fears doesn't make us weak or broken. It makes us human. Meet those fears with some self-compassion for once. The more we make peace with our fears instead of avoiding them, the weaker they become. Your biggest, baddest, fearless self is just waiting to be unleashed. I tried finding myself again ( of course there were set backs). I started focusing on my dream to compete, spent two years just getting myself back together again mentally, emotionally and physically. My mom has been gone for almost twenty years and I still think of her every day. There are days when my heart aches to see her smile, to hear her voice, to feel her comforting touch. She was my best friend. Now that I’m older, I look in the mirror and see her. She’s not gone, really. She’s right here with me and will always be. My mom showed me how to be loving, patient and compassionate to all beings, especially to myself. She encouraged me to follow my dreams, embrace imperfection and to not take myself or life too seriously.
