RUN LEG Although I lost some positions during the Run, it still felt amazing. Last 2 KM had been satisfying moment, which I didn’t believe I was near to the finish line. Electrifying voices from Terai Melayu athlete-supporters made me to increase pace. I started shouting “Thank You! You are awesome.” to volunteers in every water stations. Closer to the finish line, the moment I stepped on the Ironman carpet, I literally in tears… until I got the medal, and the huge Ironman towel. Congrats to @jennifer.a.priebe for her stellar finish at #chattanooga703 ! 💪🏃♀️ In response to the mastered last week ⛳️ There is a great golf saying for those windy days...”swing with ease into the breeze” it refers to hitting into a headwind. 🏌️♂️ •Essentially the tendency is to try to hit the ball harder into a headwind which usually causes you to get out of rhythm and put more spin on the ball which costs you distance in the end. •This applies really well to biking... if you fight the wind and tense up you use a ton of energy and put yourself in an anaerobic state which slows you down. 🚴♂️🧏🏻♂️ •Stay in rhythm and keep your effort appropriate. Stoked on these views. I have the week off and trying to cram as much #swimbikerun in it as I can. The gym was closed today apparently due to some chemical leak so I was unable to swim. Here’s a glimpse into my race day: 🏊🏼 Swim Leg: The water welcomed me with its calm embrace, but midway, waves challenged my resolve. Against the current, I pressed on, determined to conquer the distance. 🚴🏽 Bike Course: The Desaru Race course unfolded before me. Two laps in, headwinds tested my strength. Yet, I pedaled onward, fueled by the camaraderie of fellow athletes. 🏃🏽 Run Challenge: Transitioning to the run, pain surged through the soles of my feet. Each step felt like a battle, but I refused to surrender. Medical aid stations provided relief, and I pushed through. Thoughts of quitting haunted me, yet I silenced them with determination. 🙏🏼 Gratitude: My family’s and friends unwavering support echoed across the miles. Though physically distant, their cheers fueled my spirit. IM Chattanooga 70.3 I’ll keep it brief! Swim: Current assisted swim in the river. This was the most scenic swim! I disliked jumping into the water and having to wait an hour to get in, but besides that it was fantastic! My swim was 7-8 minutes faster than my normal lake swims! Bike: I LOVE ROLLERS!! If there was a bike course made for me, this might be it. Scenery was spectacular and rollers are the most fun! Felt great on the bike the whole time. Had fun cwith the people I kept leaping frogging. It was definitely congested, but manageable. My fav part of the race by far. Run: Then there was the run. Oof. This was tough. Off the bike I thought I could totally PR if I don’t blow up on the run! After mile 1, it turned into survival mode. I was not prepared for full sun and heat. It was brutal. But I kept going, shoving ice in my kit every aid station. There was no quitting, I knew I could still finish if I just kept moving. Overall it was a really hard race prep with my dad passing, but I kept up with what I could and knew he wouldn’t have wanted me to give up. Additionally I appreciate everything my coach has done for me leading up to the race. Couldn’t have done it without her. We made 3 goals and I hit 2/3 of them! I was also blessed to have the bestest training partners in @treeshaslobo @the_jenerated_adventures @kaitlynakwright and Rachel who make training so much fun!! Although watching 4 seasons of suits was entertaining as well 😆 Lastly I need to thank my @the.cupcake.cartel teammates!! They were/are the absolute best of the best!! Lately, I have hit a few bumps in the road - my workouts and diet have been all over the place, and it’s been really tough to stay consistent. Ironman 70.3 Training Week 5 Shout out to my good friend who nudged me into running that first mile back in 2007 (approximately). I started in a place of vain. Gained the freshmen 40 when I started college and was tired of gaining weight through that transitional stage of life. I’ll never forget that first mile. It was a terrible treadmill mile on campus at @indianastateuniversity . The miles are no longer for weight loss. It’s simply consistency and endurance for life. Here I am again, in yet another transitional stage of life. Everything is unfamiliar, even myself. Yet one thing can stay constant to offer me stability… running. When my regular human brain isn’t enough, I have the endurance training brain to fall back on. So thank you for the good friend who offered “go run a mile” (or something along those lines). It’s 2024 and that tactic still works. Super blessed with 1st place in AG at Ironman Chattanooga 70.3 🏆🎉 Extremely grateful that this is the sixth 1st place at an Ironman event in 12 months! I’m in awe of the goodness of God for the health, strength and opportunity to do this. 🙏🏼 It was fun racing with 27 of my teammates from @fillnowcoaching 💪🏼 Thanks to all the coaches and teammates for the support and encouragement in training and race day! ❤️ Had some good training sessions with my buddies Blake and Mike 👍🏼 Smashed my toe on the stairs coming out of the swim. 😧 It was a miracle that I was able to bike and run! 🙏🏼 Strong finish against fast competitors. 📆 Domingo 23 de Abril - 2024 🚴🏼♂️ Salir del mar e ir volando a la T1 genera mucha adrenalina, pero no hay que perder tiempo, hay que comenzar la bici lo más pronto porque es lo que más demora. 2024 IRONMAN 5i50 Triathlon Series & IRONMAN 70.3 Desaru Coast 🐯我們平安完賽啦～🐻 🐾 今年這次的比賽，是我們兩個認識以來第一次「一起」參加鐵人三項比賽： 我比5150（Olympic Distance），虎虎比70.3（Half Ironman）。 通常會有這兩個距離的比賽，一定會放隔一天才比。我們就是看中了這個，所以想星期六早上我先比賽，虎虎帶孩子；星期天虎虎比賽，我帶孩子。 想著孩子也比較大，應該比較好帶了吧！加上去年來過，大概知道可以怎麼安排比賽時間打發孩子的行程；到比賽的期間有足夠的訓練時間。於是，去年開放報名的時候，就這樣勇敢報名了！ 可是，我們失算了。 🐾 正所謂：人算不如天算。 好不容易我們一家五口的家庭行程（包括每日的運動訓練）都「美美」後（虎虎的形容）：三月，虎虎因工作關係連續兩個星期出差；四月，又出差。完全訓練不足。 而我在他出差時，一打三加homeschool加帶孩子每日運動等，還有其他commitments外加保持自己的訓練。起初還可以maintain，但是後來四月，我們都垮了。接著五月頭我的scoliosis發作，然後賽前幾天我的腳受傷⋯ 好不容易fit下來的身材直接「升級」，根本就是雪上加霜。 我們都只努力禱告：平平安安的完賽就好。 🐾 🐻 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run 星期六我比賽時，游泳除了下水不久喝了一大口海水，還被兩個男人「夾著」，基本上我還表現不錯。但是一出海整個人暈到不行一直嘔，之後心跳就開始一直狂飆、呼吸困難、一直喘氣⋯ 從騎腳車到跑步結束，都這樣。 這次的比賽，是我有史以來最糟糕的狀態，也是唯一（以為）在cutoff time之前結束的比賽（以為是4小時cutoff，結束後才發現已改成5小時）。 跑步的時候完全提不起勁兒，一路努力控制自己的心跳和呼吸。但奇妙的是，我的腳和背沒有痛，我還能動！最後也沒有因為心臟/呼吸問題，而發生什麼狀況，平安完賽了！ 我也「因禍得福」，這麼爛的成績還拿了最快的馬來西亞女子⋯ 才發現，原來在我之前的都是外國人 （給朋友說我們女子很容易拿獎⋯ 我也是用「命」「換」來的好嗎 🤣 但是我超開心，因為我被很厲害的人們稱讚我游泳很快 😭 這是我這次得到最棒的肯定啊～～～ 最後成績以3:48:04勉強結束，比起去年的3:25:31慢了23分鐘⋯ 雖然很遺憾，因為按我年頭的訓練，我是非常有信心可以做得比去年好，但是現在，真的只能感恩，我活著完賽啦！！！🔥 後記： 虎虎說，我如果當時腳車後來沒有慢下來，跑步還能跑，我還能拿分齡第三名（我拿分齡第四）。 我說⋯ 我知道～ 那個第三名的在我跑步的時候慢跑追上我，但我真的不行了，所以我沒去追。🤣 🐾 🐯 1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21km run 星期天到虎虎的比賽，他的挑戰更大，因為他比賽的距離比我的多一倍！三項項目裡，他的游泳和跑步是比較弱的。所以我超級擔心他最後無法克服那很多山坡的run。 Desaru最「有名」的挑戰就是：熱🔥。超級無敵熱！！！只要克服它，身體什麼大礙，基本上還是可以完成的！ Track他腳車的時候其實蠻感動，因為速度都還蠻不錯的！只是最後的時候開始slow down，原來腳開始痛了！還好跑的時候有很多aid station，他都有停下來找medical幫忙，最後也在目標時間內，完成賽事啦～ 2022年IM70.3 Langkawi，天氣陰涼有下雨，訓練足夠的，以6:55:00的時間完成；今年2024年IM70.3 Desaru Coast，天氣炎熱，訓練不足，以7:19:20完成⋯ 根本是很棒了啊～ 超級以他為榮！♥️ 🐾 我們參加這些比賽，不是為了贏獎盃，而是為了贏自己。 每一次都是一個新的體驗，每一次的挑戰都在戰勝自己！ 我們為這次的經歷獻上滿滿的感恩： 感謝隊友們和太太們的互相扶持 感謝孩子們的外公外婆照顧陪伴 感謝遠處為我們加油打氣的大家 感謝上帝一直不斷的看顧與保守！ 明年還會不會回來還是個未知數 但是希望我們會預備得更加充足！ 🔥 ——Nelly 熊熊媽 🐻 . #虎熊一家IMDesaru之旅 的story可以到我們的IG highlight找哦～ #虎熊一家 #thejnfamily #IM703DesaruCoast #5150DesaruCoast #whywetri #triathlonfamily #swimbikerun #nothingisimpossible #scoliosiswarrior
