TOOODDDDAAYYYYY i ran my first 5K marathon!!!!!!! With @nycruns OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG First offfff i am TIREDDDDDDDD i ran my PB at 37:59 that’s crazy clocking 11:32 pace which is wilddddddd It was REWARDING EXHILARATING AND EXHAUSTING but all in the same breath worth every minute and dime!!!!! First 5 miles cruising but lively. Next 2.5 miles färtlek. Final half mile just hot, tired and ready to be finished. Quality work with a chunk of heartrate time between 152-162 and 175 for today's max. 🚨 ALERTA TEXTÃO Confesso que hoje quase chorei em alguns momentos. Não de dor, muito pelo contrário. Não que eu não tenha sentido dor também. 😅 Hoje foi especial e emocionante, porque marcou o fim do período de treinos mais extenuante para a maratona. Nos últimos 4 fins de semana teve 21+21 na Maratona de Brasília e longos de 30, 32 e, hoje, 36km. 🥵 Durante o percurso muitas coisas vieram à cabeça. Não poderia deixar de agradecer por ter saúde pra conseguir enfrentar esse desafio. Lembrei que consegui cumprir quase 100% dos treinos planejados. Uma viagem e algumas dores impediram. E hoje estou muito melhor do que estava em janeiro, quando me propus a tentar fazer a primeira maratona. 😎 Não foi do nada. Antes disso foram quase 3 anos de treino, com uma evolução lenta (lentíssima) mas constante. No meu tempo. Cada um tem o seu. 🚀 Três anos atrás eu não tava nem aí pra maratona, eu queria era fazer 10k sem terminar completamente esgotado. De lá até o começo desse ano foram 6 meias maratonas, e aí vc começa a pensar: “Porquê não?”. 🤔 Hoje comecei solitário às 5 da manhã mas terminei com a parceria do @phcrema que me puxou nos últimos 5k pra terminar o treino hoje. E durante todo o ciclo contei com a parceria de muitas pessoas que fizeram os treinos parecer muito mais leves @jonathasmarques85 @renan_alchorne @aleemarques76 @rthrpaiva @yunarebueno @lucenacarolpires @thoma.santana @edualmeida.bsb @orleidaniel @luis_sousa55 @weltonjony 🫶🫶 Espero não ter esquecido ninguém. Não, @saboya.treinamentoesportivo , vc não fez parecer mais leve. Pelo contrário, fez cada treino ser um desafio, físico ou mental. E a única parte que aliviava era o gelo que vc não pensou duas vezes em levar quando eu te pedi pros treinos mais longos. 👊 E também não posso deixar de lembrar daquela que também não titubeou quando eu falei que ia começar essa loucura. Minha maior incentivadora e fã número 1 @malakibassila Te amo!! ❤️ O que eu aprendi com isso tudo? A maratona é muito mais do que os 42,195k! Another day, another goal crushed ✨️ 14 miler. Easy miles. I felt like I could have kept going! 2 1/2 weeks post missing my half marathon due to my back injury and 1 weekish post biopsy (benign) I am back it! Would have loved to have seen what I could have done at the height of my training but now it's back to rebuilding strength endurance and resilience. DAY 12 — #EveryDayInMay 🏃🏽‍♀️✨ Mom has always been able to eat whatever she wants and gain no weight. So today, I joined her! Lol. She doesn’t like large crowds so I made some spaghetti, got some catfish nuggets and Garrett’s popcorn. (So Chicago.) We sat in the kitchen and ate with our skinny selves! (Portion control-ish.) The marathon tapering is underway, so today I did a 13.7-mile run in the hot afternoon sun. I did my usual on a new route, though, and got lost. I lifted my head from my phone, trying to work out my whereabouts, and had to laugh as this masked pony came across the field to say hi! Even with her vision covered, her sense of direction was better than mine!! Finally getting a few moment to post my runs for the weekend. Friday was a 6 miler jaunt with a quick last 400 meters. I picked up some OT at work so I had to wait till the early evening to go out and of course Mother Nature decided to drop the temps and let the rain fall. But I don’t let Mother Nature win, well except for lightening lol. Saturday was a long run day. Got permission to add some walking to complete the RBC Brooklyn Virtual Half Marathon. Ran a little more than 11 miles plus the walking to accomplish this. This morning as another 5K training with my youngest daughter, half of my scheduled run. Finished off the other half just before Mother Nature decided to add more rain to the day. All in all it was a good weekend of running, although the body is definitely feeling it. Another half today. I was supposed to do 20miles but it didn’t work out. I was so annoyed but the weather was so hot again and I left it too late in the morning to go, it exhausted me. Plus, you know, I ve got a life for goodness sake ;) the kids have lessons, parties, exams and competitions on Sundays, I mean my husband cannot do everything! It’s like Sundays are a right off! Ohhh yeah I was quite annoyed this morning.. But on the other hand this was my 3rd half marathon in a week (well 8 days) so it can’t be that bad. I am going to have to run the 32k at some point before Edinburgh I guess.. Good thing is I can use Edinburgh Marathon as my long run for my ULTRA!!! This weather is for sitting outside drinking Sangria, not running endlessly!!! Speed workout today on the track Pyramid intervals and crushed it ! The work out was .10 of mile .25,.50.75,1.00 then back down .75,.50,.25 ,.10! I hit all my targets except 2 probably because I was moving to fast in the beginning it definitely push me to my limits ! Well Happy Mother’s Day to all you Moms out there ! Take care ! This day last week 🏃‍♀️🥈1:24:10- Race Recap 💭 Finally get round to this, I think today is the first day my legs have felt fresh. Not the time I would have had hoped for a month back but I knew in the previous 2 weeks training the time I would have liked probably wasn’t on the cards this time around. I was struggling with very tight hamstrings and hitting that faster pace was a lot more effort than it had been. I knew myself but went and gave it my best shot, promised myself I wouldn’t get too hung up on a time, I’d pull back if I needed to and enjoy it as I always love Limerick half (even though it’s not the easiest course). Not an ideal race start, we arrived in Limerick super early, got great parking and a good warm up in, but I got caught in the queue for the portaloos (why are there never ever enough 🤪😭). Out of the loo at the bottom of Pery Square with a minute to spare- I swear my heart rate was through the roof at that stage as I knew they let people out in waves📈🥵. Ran through the crowds but was met with a wall of people at the 1:40 pacer and there was nothing I could do. It was what it was, the gun went 🏁 I spent the first 2 miles trying to catch up, everyone knows don’t go out too fast in a half marathon but here I was going out too fast 🙈. Knew I’d pay for it later, especially with all the hills in Limerick and I did! A few tough miles from miles 7-10 where the pace fell back. I turned that watch on my wrist and just ran. But I got going again and finished strong. The support on the last mile and a half is incredible so never underestimate the encouragement those cheers give to a runner 👌🙏 A lot of learning- get up to the start line on time Caroline!! But overall I really enjoyed this one. I didn’t hit a wall 🙏, finally seemed to get my fueling right 🔋. I also managed to keep that little voice inside my head, the one who tries to talk me down/tells me to stop, at bay. He tried to sneak in there a few times alright 😂🤪💭 Delighted to have my little supporters out on the course with their ‘power up’ posters 💥 and to come away with a 2nd place was a fantastic surprise. Now to book another half before Dub full in Oct - any suggestions?

3 types of runs to incorporate into your running training! • • • 1. zone 2 long run Staying within 60-70% of your HR max, this is the intensity at which your Oxygen uptake matches your energy demand. Training in your ‘zone 2’ trains your body to use oxygen more efficiently which will result in increasing your endurance. Typically, you should increase your distance (or time) by 10% each week. But listen to your body, this could be different for everyone! 2. Interval Run SPRINTS! Short duration runs at a high speed with short rest breaks in between. Intervals will build your speed and increase your comfortable pace, over time. Ex. 8 x .3 miles with 60 second rest in between 3. Tempo Run These runs are personally the hardest but most rewarding for me. These runs include running at a slightly uncomfortable pace for a prolonged time/distance and then dropping your pace to your comfort level…and repeat. These runs push your threshold and train your body’s ability to work in that anaerobic state (when your oxygen supply doesn’t match your energy demand). This will allow you to run for a longer time and duration without fatiguing. Ex. Mile 1= easy pace, mile 2= fast pace, mile 3= easy pace, mile 4=fast pace. • • • I try to incorporate all three of these types of runs in my training each week. TL;DR: Should have worn a rain coat. Today’s 22 mile run felt more like swimming for the majority of it. Somewhere around mile 8 I realized I really should have worn a rain coat, but before I left the house the rain *didn’t look that bad*… famous last words. I ended the run soaked through, but good news - I saw no lightning and now it’s time to start taper! #marathontraining #shouldhavewornaraincoat

. . I didn’t get out of bed until 10am today. And I didn’t get dressed until 2pm. It was wonderful! . Took the kids out on their scooters this afternoon, whilst hubby played football, and then popped out after dinner to just to satisfy the step count. I even enjoyed a 0% wine o’clock. . I’ve only run twice this week. Thursday’s 10k took a good two or three days to recover from, due to massively tight calves, but it is definitely time to get back to it now. Starting with club training tomorrow 💛💙 . Dry Day 138 . All smiles for fall marathon season! Pumped to announce I’m heading back to runcim262 for my fall marathon. When the quad tear took 8 weeks to heal from April to June this year, the coaches and I decided the best bet was to have a nice long build back into fitness. That, along with having a great experience there last year made the choice that much easier. The build is off to a good start. Simply enjoying the team that’s around me and the small moments of finding out how good I can be. Ended this week with a solid 30k progressive long run 🏃🏻 Have to be happy about the work done today ✔️ Otherwise the week have felt a bit daunting. Like a tired body, that for better at the end. Maybe the halfmarathon race in the heat, last weekend, somehow affected the body more than I thought? To summarize five days of running, with two longer quality sessions, the distance covered landed on 110k. Took one day completely off and one day with the indoor bike. 20 miles before church • Sunday School program for the boys • Tag-teaming the mowing before my hubs is back farming again It’s been a busy but good day ❤️ Mother’s Day is bittersweet, with my mom’s brain cancer diagnosis coming the day after Mother’s Day last year. But my mom is so strong and God is good - she continues to persevere in the battle. I really wanted to ignore Mother’s Day because it can be so sad but instead being thankful is a more useful mindset. My mom is amazing and I am so blessed to call her mom! Life looks much different than a year ago but I know she’s always been and always will be my biggest fan ❤️ I want to be the same for my boys and she is the best example to learn from! “For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. 5 mile club championship race today at the Phoenix 5 mile hosted by @stevenagephoenix Beautifully organised and lovelly route even if very undulating but what killed me off was the sun and general lack of racing fiitness..
