Possum’s Revenge 69M 2024 🏃♀️ 💨 I’d like to dedicate this post to this little thing I call community - something I’ve been craving here in Abilene almost my entire running career. Well this year - it’s happened. They’ve found me - slowly but surely I’ve crossed paths and started training with several like-minded souls who believe pushing their limits is a good time 😎 It’s funny - you find this community and suddenly you look up and you’re running faster. Farther than ever before. Inspiring and challenging each other to do better and be better. To chase goals and dreams that maybe you wouldn’t have even had if you hadn’t seen the guy next to you chase them too. Energy 👏 is 👏 contagious. Possum’s was so special because I got to share many miles (if we count training, many many miles) with some of these beautiful people. Congrats to all my dear friends. My heart is full from watching you all crush your distance PRs, run your first trail race ever, or even just get out there and try despite everything life has thrown your way. Thank you to everyone who has inspired me. Shared miles with me. Cheered for me. Taken care of me. Waved and smiled at mile 45 of a very long day. I’m still lifting all the weights! My goal at this point in the trail running season is simply to maintain my strength and muscle. ✨ Brian Gilbert at Chupacabra 50-Miler ✨ @bg.rnnr back with another great performance a couple weeks ago at Chupacabra 50-miler. If I'm being honest, we went into this race with somewhat low expectations. Training had been derailed by various things - life being life - and we really weren't sure how it was gonna go. Brian decided he felt good at least trying for a sub-10 finish and we'd see how it went. He did it in 9:40. Pretty damn impressive, especially with training being a mess going into it. Thankfully past training and some solid race-day strategy paid off! I can put my finger on a few that will be on here for a while. Kristian and Nicole continue to help grow the sport of trail running in Manitoba with their awesome events. I started trail racing 12 years ago and was just a small handful of runners. This race will have close to 350+! Might have some FOMO on this one. Piece is made of all natural woods no stains or dyes used. I used walnut, white oak, popular, spalted maple, paduk, hickory, wenge and used blue @ecopoxy for the river. Was hoping to incorporate rocks into this pic. But it would have made it too big. Day 4 was a HUGE milestone day with its own unique excitement. It began with a fresh, two inches of snow on the ground and @leviperez21 and Tea covered the first several miles together. Because of the snow, Loveland Pass was temporarily closed when they arrived. While waiting for it to re-open, Levi used the time to tend to his painful Achilles’ tendons. Some foam rolling and stretching benefited his climb up the biggest gain in elevation for the whole Relay! It was a major uphill power hike with snow falling in Levi’s eyes as he navigated busy traffic. But he did it! Levi hit the 100 mile marker and got to the top of Loveland Pass. 26 miles clocked for the day. 110 miles into segment 8. 61 miles to go over the next 3 days. 🙌 Nice work! It’s all downhill from here @leviperez21! Wow that was tough, but let’s be honest 112 miles was never going to be easy! But more than happy to report we did it, from Wembury to Lynmouth, following the Two Moors Way over Dartmoor and the Exmoor in 29 hrs 25 mins to take home a shiny new buckle, second female and 10th overall. I’ve wanted to do this one ever since the hubby, @jaybrock13 fast hiked it, unsupported many years ago, so it was pretty cool retracing his foot steps and sharing the experience. A huge thank you to Jay for supporting me through the training and crewing the whole event. I couldn’t have done it without you, you knew what I needed and when, especially at that last check point, when I could longer think straight. The wheels had fallen off many hours ago, and I was staring at my watch trying to work out if I could make it to the end in my goal time of sub 30 hrs, I mean it’s not rocket science there is a screen saying ETA. So I desperately asked ‘can I still make it in sub 30?’ The response was a pause then the words ‘yes, yes I think so’. That was all I needed to snap me out of my zombie state and get going again, because I knew that what the husband was really saying was yes, if you get a bloody move on, so I ran and willed myself to kept running over Exmoor, pushing up the final hills. Such a satisfying feeling to finish strong and to be cheered on by the @climbsouthwest team. Justin, that another awesome event, I’ll definitely be back for more. the sun is back 🧿🌞✨ I confess that Autumn is my favorite season in Florianópolis. Hot sun, cold wind and an empty island only for the locals. 🙌🏼 Since I came back from Argentina, I’ve spent so many hours with my family, eating a lotttt, I’ve done excellent training sessions and feeling my body definitely on another level. I’m so grateful to have to have found the sport of ultramarathon all those years ago, especially the 100-mile distance. The moment I finished my first 100 at Superior, I knew I’d found my home. Because of that, I now have 20 finishes at Massanutten 100 and over 20 at Superior 100. A life lived doing what I love, even when it’s unbelievably hard, frustrating, or disappointing. We all know those moments. I’ve always known I have something unique to give back - decades of perspective in the sport, experience as a woman in the sport over in my 30s through 60s as life happens and my body changes, being a certified life coach and feminist coach for the mindset piece, and of course…146 100-mile finishes. It’s why I coach - to pass my skills, strategies, processes and knowledge on to others at the highest level I can, while I can. This buckle, among other things, is a reminder to keep going. 💚

UTH Szentlászló Trail 84K 2024.05.19. Bár a második "tüskét" a végén a szervezők idén kivették, a tavalyi időn több, mint 1 órát javítva sikerült beérni. A hajnal 2 órás rajt után még frissen a sötétben Dobogókőig (21 km-ig) elkapott valami flow és csak repültem. 😍🦅 Nagyon nagy élmény volt!🤩 Na de gondoltam, hogy nem lesz ez végig így. A Vadálló-köveken felfelé már más érzéseim voltak. 😅 Lepence után jött egy nagy eső. 🌧️ A Spartacus ösvény tavaly is nagyon tetszett, ezt most is csak megerősíteni tudom, csodás panoráma és jól futható ösvények. Pilisszentlászlón (45 km-nél) nagyon jólesett a szurkolás, a crew tagjai mindenben a segítségünkre igyekeztek🥰 (Csak sajnos a paradicsomlevest nem szeretem 🍅🫤). Pilisszentlászló után tudtam, hogy egy könnyedebb szakasz jön a patakokkal, ott megint flow és repülés.😀🦅 Visegrád után jött a mélypont, nem nagyon akartam a frissítőpontokon kívül enni és inni semmit, csak haladjunk már. Aztán valahol Borjú-fő után megint visszatértem egy kis időre és tudtam érdemben is futni, majd a Skanzennél voltam hajlandó megenni a bepakolt maggis tésztalevest🥘 amit Csabi addig hozott magával és addigra meg is "főtt"😅 , pedig hamarabb kellett volna rávenni magam, hogy egyek valami értelmeset. a ještě jedna víkendová do stejné série - “Běhám hodně a běhám FAKT ráda 🤪”. paradoxně mě sobota fakt bavila víc. já ty běhy do kopce⛰️ prostě nemusím, je to na mě příliš namáhavé😤. a první foto je evidentně již cesta dolů. ale Contica Běh na Radhošť mi sedl. 6.5km, 750 výškových metrů, pure hell 👹. mohla bych jako tvrdit, jak jsem si to tam šla vyklusat po sobotním trailRUNu, ale či jsem padlá na hlavu, abych klusala na závodě? prostě to rychleji nešlo a na závody chodím závodit 😆🤦♀️ . protože kopce furt nedávám a pořád v nich nadávám, je třeba patřičná vnější motivace (a té bylo na tomto závodě dost🤪). výsledek 5. místo v kategorii mezi specialistkami na kopce, skoro celé jsem to vyběhla a navíc jsem se necítila příliš mizerně (to asi znamená, že jsem měla rubat víc!). první dva kilometry jsem nedivočila 🐽, bo jsem myslela, že rychle uvadnu, ale nakonec, když jsem ten svůj kolos🦭 rozpohybovala, tak to šlo velice dobře. za mě perfektní závod. skoro jsem získala pocit, že tím, že teď toho terénu a kopců dávám víc, už získávám i nějakou dovednost občas nějaký kopec solidně vyběhnout 👌🤟👠. pozávodní posezení a tombola byla už jen třešnička na dortu :). děkuji za Sportovně nejen za cenu v tombole (to nebylo podplacené fááááákt!) ale i za možnost vyzkoušení testovacích bot a konečně jsem vyvětrala triko (Salomon Cross Run SS Tee XS ;)) v pořádné běžecké akci 💃- tedy v tom slejváku, co nás doprovodil na kopec. hodil by se slogan - zůstane suché i když se po*****. než jsme sběhli do základního tábora, bylo suché (asi ne příliš čisté a voňavé, mamka vypere... (Zuzano... kdo je ta mamka!!!???)). těšila jsem se, že jak to bílé triko pořádně zmokne budu jak Miss Mokré tričko🧜♀️. spíše to vypadá na Miss Zmoklá slepice🐔. The Keys100 (Nonstop run from Key Largo to Key West) was simultaneously a seemingly impossible task and an incredible experience. With the help of @cjsthree (crew chief, pacer), Catherine, John, and @hnstam I was able to complete the 100 mile run in truly nasty conditions. This is not just a compliment- there is 0% chance I would have finished without them. The finish rate of 36% tells the entire story. @boundlesscoachbrad put in some of the toughest running I have personally seen to finish this. He practiced what he preaches and showed real grit. With less than 2 weeks to one of my favorite races of the year, #thesticks72 it is time to taper (😂😂😂). The ladt couple of weeks have been high intensity heat and elevation training on the local mountains and increased weightlifting to get the legs and body ready first 72 hours of non-stop running in the middle of nowhere in #kansas 😊 Spring has really come to #newmexico with everything blooming. There's a minor #ladybug #infestation at the top of #gomezpeak so I only stayed a short time before heading back down. I am feeling pretty good about the upcoming race, and will hopefully be able to break my 72-hour record of 202.2 miles this time. As always, #hammerheed, #hammergels and @squirrels_nut_butter kept the training smooth and my body is more than ready the oncoming onslaught in the unpredictable Kansas weather.
