10k race next to an airport runway 🤯 Loved the @rungatwick 10k race this weekend! Weather was great, cool little event village next to the Gatwick Aviation Museum with some classic planes intertwined with lots a stalls / village fair type feel then a flat race with airplanes flying over the course. Little surreal to be fair, there’s nothing like it that I’m aware of out there! Weekend away meant swapping the usual Saturday long run for a bit of parkrun tourism 😊 Full of curry and beer from the night before me and @gary_runs surprised ourselves with that time! STAINES 10K 39.32 Another one down! A course PB and 21st place out of 685 runners!! So whilst it’s not really a time to shout about im happy enough to hold a steady pace in the heat. It’s lovely to run in the sunshine but it just takes a bit of getting used, seeing as we have had what feels like 8 months of rain and wind. Raced for places today , got told at 5k I was 26th so made up a few spots and felt pretty good . I mean I wasn’t fast but it feels good realing runners in and not getting past by anyone. I even lost my (running) partner Danny as I genuinely thought that he was behind me but he unfortunately went into a walking pace while I carried on in slow jogging pace! The sunniest weekend in my running career to date😮💨 I could write a long rambly caption about mindset but right now i’m really not practicing what I preach! 🧠 I usually get in the ZONE during a run, especially a race but this weekend I was just finding a place in my mind to ‘get through it’- and beating myself up afterwards🙅🏽♀️ I stopped and walked during both races- something i’m not used to doing at ALL🥲 I have prioritised strength since Wilmslow half and naively i expected to just pull PBs out of the bag because thats what happened before🤷🏽♀️ I’m certainly in the midst of finding that ‘sweet spot’ hybrid training split that truly works for me in all areas🪄🪄🏃🏽♀️🏋🏽♀️ Yes i’ve come so far, but i think the levelling up time is here to get to that next level in the gym, on runs, and to condition myself for Hyrox⏳🫡🪄😎👟👏🏼🏋🏽♀️ As the last picture says - always believe something wonderful is about to happen🪄🧚🏽♀️✨✨ Best believe i have this on repeat to myself in my head🧠💅🏽💪🏼💣

Stepping out of my comfort zone 😬 I have become self aware that although I do a lot of challenges, I must find safety in numbers. When I look at all the things I have achieved this past year I’ve not gone anything alone. So it may not seem a lot to some, but just driving to the race gave me huge anxiety, where do I go, where I collect my number, and then just wondering around alone, no one to be there for you at the finish line. Its something that I’m not comfortable with. However my current mental load is feeling heavy right now, and I find myself getting overwhelmed and not feeling like I’m doing enough for the people around me, but for this reason I know that even though I feel this way, I have to also make myself a priority and do things for me. So on Friday I booked on to the #runthroughuk Birmingham half marathon because I needed a win, I didn’t want a PB but just do achieve something and have fun for me. Today I did that, and I can tell you now I had THE BEST morning. I think I smiled all the way round, supporting other runners and just enjoying it. I feel so proud of pushing through and doing something that’s new to me. Just what I needed 🙏 Do the thing girls! Book it in, make yourself proud 💕 Then got my day 12 pull ups in, feeling strong! A great day

Hampton Court Palace 10k, on the hottest day of the year so far 😎🥵 This is always a really fun event and very local to us. However, the heat and I don’t always get on, and this, combined with the second half all on grass and uneven paths in Home Park, meant I ended up running more at half marathon pace rather than 10k pace. However, I somehow managed a top 10 finish and 3rd in my age category, which I’ll take as a positive and a really enjoyable run in the sunshine ☀️ Thank you @runthroughuk for another well organised event, and my annual meet up with King Henry VIII 👑😆

What a day yesterday. Firstly, thank you so much for all the love & kindness on my last post, I can’t explain the emotions I felt sharing and then receiving from that post, it’s taken me 8 years to talk about elements in my life properly - and also without physical or mental distress. Therapy last year, was the first time I’d properly committed to the healing process and self love, which, after you’ve endured abuse is something that just doesn’t come naturally AT ALL because you become used to having to be in flight or fight mode. So, to say yesterday felt genuinely liberating and such a personal achievement is an understatement. I am so grateful for my ability to be able to do a run and raise money for a charity like @mycwacharity I am grateful to be mentally stable enough to share and accept my experiences in life and use them for a positive. And I am so grateful; to have shared yesterday not only my partner who, I just can’t appreciate enough for being my safe space. But genuinely, above anyone else, my daughter. To share such a morning with Bella and see her experience such an exciting atmosphere as a run and the positive environment it creates, from the restricted life she was exposed too as an infant. Felt honestly, emotional there’s no other word🥲 I genuinely, had a little cry half way around the course from reflecting at the day actually happening. I’ve been able to manage my weight and relationship with food consistently to be able to train for a running event like that! I’m able to share my experience to help others. I DID IT! I’ve run my first ever half marathon. Never thought this would be possible. Who knows me well knows how I’ve always hated running (and not sure yet if I like it now) and I’d not even run if death was chasing me 😂 I’ve run 21k/13miles in 2h10 minutes. The last 4k were tough. I cried once I finished of both emotion and maybe a little pain. My hips flexors were killing me and my left foot started hurting right at the end but I managed to finish! Thank you to my biggest supporter @gfjaderson not only for today but for being there since the moment I’ve decided to start training. Third time lucky and the first race of 2024 has finally been run! I was beginning to feel a little like I was jinxed when it came to RunThrough events after missing the two previous races I'd signed up for earlier this year through illness and injury. And last weekend when I was suffering with toothache culminating in an emergency dentist appointment on Tuesday morning I thought "Oh no here we go again!" But following a chat with @lilliesfitness (once the lidocaine had worn off) those thoughts were put to bed and the rest of taper week was thankfully, uneventful. Fast forward to this morning and I knew once we'd arrived at Tatton Park that beating my PB would be unlikely given the heat. However, I still went out and gave it my all coming in just under two minutes over my PB which I am incredibly proud of. I've got my next race in July, back on the same course I beat my 10k PB in last November so you never know I just might do it again! FIRST HALF MARATHON ☑️ 1:57 chip time / 1:56 watch time 🏃🏼♀️ There’s no way 6 months ago I thought I’d be here and absolutely loving this running era!! And already planning my next marathon 😆🤣 For so long I labelled myself as “not a runner” - but the truth is that I never gave it a shot. And training for this race has given me so much joy and love for exercise again 🫶🏼 And shout out to my biggest support system for providing the signs for each lap and of course the cookies and brownies afterwards 🍪 @runthroughuk
Battersea Park Half Marathon - 🥵🤢☀️ That about sums it up - so proud of myself, another PB/PR for the win and kept a little back for my sprint finish! 🥵 Official chip time - 1:45:44 (laps and Strava don’t go well) 🥇 247/1301, 2/33 (for age), 29/553 (for gender) 💥 🤢 8 + laps was a mind f**k as you were lapping people and trying to keep track of what mile you were on. ☀️ hot hot hot and lot of runners needed help, luckily there were loads of people on hand to help. 🍌 fuelled well with @veloforte chews every 3 miles plus lucozade but my legs were hurting by mile 10!
