The Treforest 10k was another Championship race for the club after the Cardiff Bay 10km last week. With conditions cooler than the week before, unsurprisingly the three that took on the double all had a faster time this weekend. The route was slightly undulating taking in parts of the Taff Trail around Taffs Well and towards Nantgarw on an out-and-back course but at least there was coverage from the intermittent rain showers and sun under the trees. It was a first race for Nadine in club colours who performed really well finishing a little behind Delyth, with Susannah running strongly again to take home a first prize for her age category. In the men’s results, Andy G took third place overall, with Kev keen to get some points finishing second from the club ahead of Hywel, James, Ceri & Ian B. Ron narrowly missed out on an age category win. Solid points on the board for Meg, Androo, John & Arthur too. The last race of the @islandraceseries was on Sunday: Bazan Bay 5k in Sidney. Having sprained my ankle on March 13, I hadn’t been able to run more than 11 kms in a month. I wasn’t sure how the race would go, so I decided I’d try my best until I couldn’t and if I’d have to walk, so be it. Thankfully, I didn’t have to walk but it was my slowest 5k in a long time and the first race of the series where I didn’t place top 8 in my age category (I was 12th). Nevertheless, since I did 5/8 races in the series, I qualified for a series award and placed 8th in my age category. Super fun series of great races with great post race food. I’d do this again next year. ✨The 2024 Open ✨ Went in the most relaxed I have been about this with the mindset of just moving and giving it all a good go at Rx. Very little footage so here’s a rundown. 👇🏻 ▪️24.1 was almost the death of my lower back and me - 1 star, wouldn’t recommend ▪️24.2 It was really nice to put my fairly newly found Dubs to practice in a workout and now looking to fine tune them under fatigue in the coming year. 4 stars ▪️24.3 Gymnastics is definitely the weakest of my below average CrossFit skills so I was buzzing to get 30 chest to bar pull ups 🙌🏻. Spent a lot of time resting between singles so this one gets 4 stars LOVED watching everyone else push themselves and achieving their personal wins. #Woah! 🧐 I fall in this #agecategory and I am the #elder one..🤓💭 For years, researchers have found that the eldest child tends to earn more money and perform better on cognitive tests than their younger siblings. However, experts have disagreed on which factors are the biggest drivers of this trend. In an updated working paper published in February by the National Bureau of Economic Research, the authors found that one key factor was holding back younger siblings: They were more likely to get sick as infants. After examining data on first- and secondborn siblings born in Denmark between 1981 and 2017, the researchers found that younger siblings were two to three times as likely as their older siblings to be hospitalized for respiratory conditions during the first year of their lives. The disparity was the largest when the secondborn child was born in the fall or winter — when respiratory illnesses are more common — and when the siblings were closer in age. “We believe that these patterns are explained by the fact that infants with older siblings have more virus exposure — due to their older sibling, who is often in group childcare and ‘brings home’ viruses,” N. Meltem Daysal, an associate professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen and an author of the paper, told Business Insider via email. What’s more, exposure to illnesses may have long-term financial impacts. When the researchers looked at the earnings of children born between 1981 and 1989 in Denmark, they found that among employed siblings, younger siblings earned 2.4% less on average than their older siblings at the same age, Daysal said. Warwick half marathon 🏃🏼♀️✅ . Well this time last year i was injured and watching from the sidelines and cheering people on so it was great to finally run this race and what a race it was i knew it was going to be tough at times especially those damn hills 😩my head was telling me to walk them so what did i do?….walk them of course 🤦♀️but i kept on going and picked the pace back up again 😳….i did feel strong at times but towards the end i just had enough and my calves were really feeling it too 🤣🤣 . Rezultat jednom zauvek ?!?!?! 🔥 Dugoročni fizički rezultati su ono što mnogi od nas žele postići kada započnu svoj fitness put. Ovakav rezultat se ne postiže preko noći i zahteva posvećenost, doslednost i strpljenje. U narednim redovima otkriću vam nekoliko principa kojih se ja pridržavam već 8. godinu za redom, i uz koje iz godine u godinu imam sve bolju formu. **1. Postavljanje realnih ciljeva:** Prvi korak ka postizanju dugoročnih fizičkih rezultata jeste postavljanje realnih ciljeva. Očekivati da ćete se transformisati za nekoliko nedelja nije realno. Višak koji smo skupljali 10 godina nećemo izgubiti za mesec dana. Umesto toga, postavite ciljeve koji su merljivi, ostvarivi i vremenski definisani. **2. Kompletna i izbalansirana ishrana:** Ishrana ima najvažniju ulogu u postizanju fizičkih ciljeva. Konzumiranje uravnotežene i hranjim sastojcima bogate ishrane pomaže nam ne samo u gubitku težine ili izgradnji mišića, već i održava našu energiju i vitalnost tokom dužeg vremenskog perioda. **3. Doslednost u fizičkoj aktivnosti:** Doslednost je ključna za postizanje dugoročnih rezultata. Redovno vežbanje, bez obzira na to da li je reč o kardio treningu, snazi ili fleksibilnosti, pomaže u izgradnji i očuvanju mišića, snage i kondicije. Ako niste sportski tip, i sama redovna šetnja, ili vožnja bicikla će doneti mnogo benefita, pre svega za zdravlje, a onda i za dugoročni rezultat. **4. Postavljanje prioriteta za zdravlje:** Dugoročni fizički rezultati često idu ruku pod ruku sa opštim zdravljem. Brinuti se o svom telu, kako bi bilo zdravo je prioritet. Samo zdravo telo može istovremeno biti dugoročno fit i snažno. **5. Pravilan odmor i oporavak:** Telo se obnavlja i raste tokom perioda odmora i oporavka. Ovo uključuje dovoljno sna, hidrataciju i relaksaciju kako biste omogućili vašim mišićima i zglobovima da se regenerišu. **6. Samomotivacija i pozitivan mindset:** Održavanje dugoročnih fizičkih rezultata može biti izazovno, ali ključ je ostati pozitivan i motivisan. Postavljanje kratkoročnih ciljeva i slavljenje postignuća na putu ka dugoročnom cilju može vam pomoći da ostanete fokusirani. *nastavak u komentarima
