❤️ My great grandmother, Fidencia García Marin, lived to be 106 years old with no glasses and all her teeth. She used to say that Creator forgot about her because she couldn't even catch a cold. ❤️ In doing genealogical research, I discovered that she gave birth to 9 children, 5 of which died at age 4 or much sooner (at least one of which died of starvation - a baby girl). Knowing what she went through, has given me a renewed perspective on who she was and the legacy she left her generations. I am also grateful for the knowledge that we can be reunited with our loved ones for time and all eternity. Street outreach is one of the easiest forms of activism but has the potential to change people's mindsets in one conversation. I was vegetarian, unaware I was still contributing to such horrific animal exploitation when I came across a cube of truth for the first time 5 years ago. I'd never seen anything like what was on the screens before and I was horrified. After a few days of processing what I'd seen and the conversation I'd had, I was vegan. Within a month I was standing there with the same group helping others to make the connection. It is clearly declared here by the Supreme Lord that in devotional service there is no distinction between the lower and higher classes of people. In the material conception of life there are such divisions, but for a person engaged in transcendental devotional service to the Lord there are not. Everyone is eligible for the supreme destination. In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (2.4.18) it is stated that even the lowest, who are called caṇḍālas (dog-eaters), can be purified by association with a pure devotee. Therefore devotional service and the guidance of a pure devotee are so strong that there is no discrimination between the lower and higher classes of men; anyone can take to it. The most simple man taking shelter of the pure devotee can be purified by proper guidance. According to the different modes of material nature, men are classified in the mode of goodness (brāhmaṇas), the mode of passion (kṣatriyas, or administrators), the mixed modes of passion and ignorance (vaiśyas, or merchants), and the mode of ignorance (śūdras, or workers). Those lower than them are called caṇḍālas, and they are born in sinful families. Generally, the association of those born in sinful families is not accepted by the higher classes. But the process of devotional service is so strong that the pure devotee of the Supreme Lord can enable people of all the lower classes to attain the highest perfection of life. This is possible only when one takes shelter of Kṛṣṇa. As indicated here by the word vyapāśritya, one has to take shelter completely of Kṛṣṇa. A few thoughts on Trauma Integration: 1. Your process of trauma integration is directly influenced by how safe your nervous system feels. If healing trauma is exhausting, overwhelming or painful, consider that this is not trauma healing but more survival. 2. Trauma is not about "going" into or remembering the past. Unresolved trauma is about Seeing what echoes in the present from what happened in the past. Everything that happened in your life that left a traumatic imprint is reflected in - how you perceive your present realities - how you relate and/or experience relationships - how your body experiences life - how your nervous system responds/protects - your symptoms, challenges and reactions - your hurts and pains The more you see, attune to and meet these in the present moment with what was never available, the more they soften. 3. What makes trauma complex is how long it stays in our system without being acknowledged and properly addressed. The sooner and the longer we live through the lens of traumatization, the more our nervous system adapts and defaults to survival states and the more unconscious and complex trauma becomes. That's why healing trauma is a Whole-Being Process. 4. What creates the suffering is not the trauma per se but our identification with it. Our enmeshment/merging with adaptation, response, wound, protection, and coping mechanisms perpetuates trauma. Clarity, Containment, and Compassion are the antidotes to traumatization.
