In 2019, we started our journey towards observing the Sabbath. I was so resistant. Believed I didn’t need, truly didn’t want it, and felt fine about life. Then the Spirit got a hold of my heart, and conviction led me to laying down pride and ambition. Here I am 5 years later…and my schedule feels full of baseball, ministry, work, this little business, laundry, chores, school plays, volunteering in the classroom, and on and on. Go, go, go. Do, do, do. Deep in my bones, I am tired. Life is so good, and it’s so full over here. But without Sabbath, I am tired. I’ve been repeating those words above to myself… “I am a person. I am not a machine.” I am God’s creation, made in his image, designed to rest and create. This is just a little reminder (to myself) that rest is necessary.
