Well, after being awake until 4am with hellish coughing fits, I’m trying my best to rally up and get work done. Did I mention I have to do things I know nothing about???? As you know, I’ve been offering freelance administrative services which has lead to a lot of website editing/building/developing. And truth be told, beyond the editing, I DON’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT I’M DOING!!!!!!! One of my clients lost their website in a hosts drive failure. So we are pointing the domain to a new host and there’s a lot of details I need to learn and understand to make these things happen. One of my past flaws was my constant saying “I don’t know”. There have been many things throughout my life I looked at and just threw my hands up and said “I don’t know what this is, I don’t know how to do this, I don’t know what this means”. And I usually left it there. A lot of missed opportunities to learn and grow. And in ways it really kept me from progressing. Now, I’m saying “not anymore!”. Not anymore am I going to say I don’t know how to learn something. I have no clue right now what I’m learning but I am making myself do it for once. I am making myself try to understand and just effing DO IT. A big thank you to my clients for letting me grow and being supportive. I appreciate your trust and care. I follow the philosophy of the Indian Proverb, A House With Four Rooms by doing something daily for my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. As part of my spiritual practice, I pray, meditate, and read daily devotionals. The message today is very similar to what a client expressed after doing some of the exercises in my coaching program, A Pilgrimage to Self. As shy and introverted as I felt at first, I knew I've been wanting to connect more deeply with these ladies, and I'm SO GLAD I was willing to put myself out there and go for it! There were so many raw, deep conversations with women who are willing to dive right in and talk about the real sh*t that we experience in life. We danced. We laughed. We bonded. Anyone who knows me since school knowwwwwwws how much I avoided my curly hair 😅 my mums side of the family is from the Caribbean and my hair was always so different to everyone I was around as a kid. I did everything to try and tame it, I would never wear it down and it got to a point that I would straighten it almost everyday even if I was only tying it up. When I went travelling at 19; I took my hair straighteners with me 😅 and soon realised I could not travel Asia and be in the sea everyday but maintain straight hair so after a couple of months I decided it would be easier to get dreadlocks. Fast forward 10 years and I decided it was finally time to take the uncomfortable journey of learning to love my natural hair; having a daughter who is now 9 years old; it was important for me to teach and show her full self love and acceptance SO 2 years ago, my daughter helped me cut off all my dreadlocks and shave my head. The initiation was huge for us both; such a massive journey in releasing attachment. 2 years on since shaving my head and the journey has been wild; it has been so hard at times; all the old insecurities coming up of not being beautiful with my natural hair; as it gradually gets longer, the coin is starting to flip and I am reminding myself daily how grateful I am for a full head of healthy hair and for my lineage. My hair is a reflection of me, it is wild and it should be free, why should I try so hard to ‘fit’ in to beauty standards when that is not my personality at all - so many other ways in my life I go against the grain and appreciate myself for my open mind and stepping outside of what is considered ‘normal’. So heres to stepping outside of my comfort zone and releasing old patterns of conditioning. It may sound silly because so many people compliment my curly hair but it’s not about what other people think; it’s about the internal dialog we hold within ourselves; freedom comes from within. Here's a thought form that has been present for me all day today: meeting loss with gratitude. I am aware that it is counterintuitive. We are wired to run away from the experience of loss. That being said, the experience of loss itself, is another form of receivership. It is the receivership of space. Aside from counselling, this is what work looks like for me these days. It can be physically demanding and I do get tired, but what's the alternative?. Finding a corporate job and tapping away at a meaningless spreadsheet, filling in pointless data, that is used to generate more money, for the few at the top. I've been there, done that and the depression that followed nearly killed me. So it's back to nature, back to grounding and more importantly, working within a small community, that doesn't leave me in a constant state of hyper villigance and fight or flight. I call one category - when decluttering - "PERSONAL EXPRESSION ITEMS." These include clothing & wall decor - things that we keep NOT because they're ultra functional or because they hold memories, but because they express our STYLE. This becomes a decluttering CHALLENGE when we're not really sure what our style IS. So we bounce from one style to another, or CHASE TRENDS, or go for items that are fleeting expressions of what we feel IN THE MOMENT rather than a sustained style. (And so, we collect a mishmash of various styles and don't know how to let go!) One's STYLE goes much DEEPER than that. It's a lasting impression that "This says 'ME.'" Personally, my style typically consists of earth-toned and solid colors, natural fabrics, and small miniature prints (especially thin stripes and miniature flowers!). They're easy to mix and match in an "everything goes with everything" sort of way. When I go outside of these parameters, it means I've got a "STATEMENT PIECE" - I have VERY FEW of these!! So, if you feel overwhelmed with those personal expression items and unsure of your style, take a moment to reflect on what truly RESONATES with you. HOW TO START?? Consider starting with a closet or home decor PURGE, setting aside items that align with your envisioned style and that are DEEPLY SATISFYING. Then, gradually build upon this foundation. Select pieces that truly reflect your AUTHENTIC SELF. Ask yourself: "On a scale from 0-10, how much does this say 'ME'?" Remember, your style is an extension of who you are, so embrace what feels right for you and LET GO OF THE REST. By finding your unique style, you'll not only SIMPLIFY your surroundings but also build confidence and authenticity in EVERY ASPECT of your life… This. Is. Life. Hi, I’m Sarah. I was using this account as a driver for a new career in coaching but not really vibing with that at the moment. I sold a creative agency 2 years ago and have been figuring it out ever since. I re-programmed a lot of toxic beliefs that stemmed from feeling like I had to achieve in order to be accepted (SPOILER, that did NOT work out). I have been exploring the impact of capitalism in America, on people and on the planet. I have been aligning my life to the values I hold. I lived out of a Prius for 3 months earlier this year as a part of this exploration within myself. I love sharing my authentic journey — honesty is a core value for me and I’ve not been one to shy away from sharing an opinion when asked… I have loved building community on social media for over a decade with friends all over the globe. Social media is how I started my first business and truly the industry I started my career… it’s social and connection and mostly fun! Being an early adopter of platforms like MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Vine… You name it… I’ve tried it and built a presence there over the last 15 years and build community. I’ve built community for myself and dozens of brands in the digital landscape. Even though I haven’t worked in social media for around 3 years now, this channel is personal to me and I manage it myself so my authentic voice is present. I’ve learned over time it’s more important to focus on the platforms I love, cultivating community and connections there than trying to be everywhere and do everything for everyone. (Big life lesson too) Earlier this year I experimented with posting a minimum of three times a day on Instagram… Mixing up images and reels and doing all the things to try to extend my reach and visibility playing around to see what works now. I’ve learned a lot, and I’ve also learned that the intention behind it is everything. And posting that much everyday isn’t the energy I want to bring to my feed. I prefer to be in flow. Sharing when things are authentic for me. So you won’t see a certain number of post a week… You will see me show up when I’m genuinely excited about things or have messages to share. I don’t know what else I can commit to at this time. I do know I really enjoy showing up here most the time, sharing authentically about what I’m moving through and bringing you all along for the journey. I feel if my story can help even one person in their lives I’m honored to share. Yet I’ve been feeling more and more that maybe disappearing from the Internet sounds nice. I often hear people say they struggle to meditate because their mind wanders or they find it hard to stay still for extended periods. These are common misconceptions, and to those who voice them, I offer a different perspective: that’s precisely why you NEED to meditate. Firstly, the misconception that meditation requires a substantial time commitment is just that—a misconception. Meditation can be as brief as five minutes. Let’s face it, you likely spend more time scrolling on your phone! Secondly, the belief that you must remain perfectly still for meditation to be effective is also incorrect. There are various forms of meditation, including movement-based practices like walking and yoga, as well as mindfulness meditations where you can engage in daily activities such as washing dishes. Meditation is fundamentally about staying present, not about immobilizing yourself. For those whose minds tend to wander, meditation doesn’t demand the absence of thoughts; rather, it invites you to become a keen observer of your thoughts without becoming entangled in them, akin to watching clouds drift across the sky. How can you truly attune with your own inner voice if it’s drowned out by the noise in your mind? Are you someone who reads about or indulges in 'tweakments'? I'm reading so much about what we can do to 'look younger' and stop the aging process. Some of these tweakments are more invasive than others. If that's your thing then so be it. It's not mine. The truth is, we won't stop the aging process. It's a natural process which we need to wrap our arms around. For those who don't know, wearing the right colours and styles will always help you feel authentic, you'll glow and you'll actually look like you had a face lift (if you want that!) without any "tweak or treat" ments. I'm often told that I look, on average, about 10 years younger than I am. And I know that I shouldn't feel complimented by that given what I've said above - but I do. I love to look healthy, glowing and vibrant. The least expensive, least invasive and most long lasting tweakment is to wear the clothes that make you feel like you.
