The hardest part in any routine is getting your NUTRITION right to achieve optimal results. I’m going to be honest I don’t believe there is such thing as a right diet for each individual, I believe in making adaptive measures to already existing ones in place. Why is that you ask? Because there is never a one size fits all approach to eating. There’s thousands of recipes and diets out there and my opinion they are a waste of money. Whoever cames up with some these diets needs to take a long hard look at themselves, absolute…. I’ll let you complete that sentence. Anyways here’s a list of things I use to build stable and consistent routines for eating; 1️⃣ Cut The Crap - Address your existing habits that are bad from the start, it will help you to increase accountability during the change and make you less likely to yo yo. 2️⃣ Make sure you can realistically stick to it - Be honest about it, no point fluffing things up because ultimately it’s you that will suffer not anyone else. You want to change, make the change. 3️⃣ Don’t go guesstimating - Make sure you know your bodies specific demands and what it needs. No point in thinking you need to eat a roast because you’ve been training so hard, each individuals calorie burning capabilities are all unique to them. 4️⃣ Include fats - Believe it or not that you actually need fats to burn fat hmmm interesting ay. I don’t mean go chucking packets of crisps or sausage rolls down your throat, I’m talking essential fats ie; Avocados, Nuts, Fish and even the cooking oils you use switch them up. 5️⃣ Be clever with carbs - Just like fats they are heavily involved in the fat burning process. Carbs behave very differently in the body at different points during the day and also pre-during- post workouts. Heres a clue - INSULIN! ⬇️ If you want to learn what else you can do to build yourself a bulletproof routine, then hit me up. Guess what… Doing the same stuff that didn’t work for you last time won’t make it work better this time. Just doing some random jogs here and there will most probably not cut it. Except for the fact that your goal is to sustain a low level of conditioning and just go into pre-season having to do a bit of extra work. Generally speaking, I’d preserve conditioning work for later in the off-season and invest more time and energy into other training tasks where adaptations take a bit more time to be made. Slowly ramping up the workload and exposing the player to the qualities they need more of is key. The overall idea though is to keep a solid aerobic base and build up the building with more anaerobic capacity. Any questions in regards to those 6 conditioning methods I’ve mentioned in the post are more than welcome. Decided this deserves its own place on the grid! Been working HARD with my strength training (guided initially by the expert @livfitonlinecoaching) the past 8 months and feeling chuffed with how those glutes are popping. Among other things, do your (heavy) hip thrusts, ladies!! Apparently they work. 🤣🤩🍑 I’ve finally learned the basic, magic ingredients required in this game, and believe it’ll stick as a sustainable lifestyle. It took me a long time to get here, but it’s worth it… Walk, Lift, Protein, Sleep, REST, repeat! I still don’t necessarily like or accept myself every day, but my mindset with regards eating is a lot healthier and I know recovery is never a linear process. I've been training combat athletes for close to 20 years now and I can absoutely say that they are some of the most mentally tough people on the planet But it's not because they keep going when they're tired or that they don't stop when they get punched in the face over and over again It's because to be a great combat athlete, you have to train hard, eat well, and focus on rest and recovery day in and day out. If you don't do all of these things, you won't last long in the sport and you won't be a champion So while the ability to push yourself beyond where you want to go is an important mental skill, the real mental side of the game is making the hard choices outside the gym Skipping another episode of your favorite show on Netflex to get more sleep. Eating the right foods day in and day out. Telling your friends you can't go out because you have to train in the morning. Spending time on recovery and regeneration These are all things that take real mental toughness. Today’s “visitation…” - So I want to revisit the whole “Primarch Replacement theory” which I think is extremely reasonable and likely.
