Almost every employer does this... There are plenty of other things that an employer MIGHT do that negatively impact your health, but some are genuinely nice caring people that respect your work life balance. They just don't understand physical health and they don't care to. The silly thing is, that as destructive to your well being as sitting can be, not only do you actively seek it out, but your jobs mandate it even if you don't want to. I know some of you will stand in meetings, wilfully being the odd one out, or use standing desks and I applaud that. But this is a worldwide issue that really we should be doing better with. I'll also acknowledge that some of you need to sit down, but this isn't a fix, it's a way to manage your current situation. Until as a society we embrace standing up and squatting, and moving, we need to take things into our own hands. And to be honest even then... Because becoming strong and mobile not only frees up your body to handle the rigours of life, it frees up the mind. If you are strong, pain and niggle free and full of vitality then everything you do will be better. Life, work, play, relationships. All from dedicating a little time each week to getting stronger. I don’t want to ever not recognise myself ever again. I’ve been caught in the very depths of depression before, suicidal with the idea there was no way out. I’ve been morbidly obese with the doctors words that I would die young if I didn’t get myself healthy. I’m travelling with my hormones and genetics working against me. But. I decided against waiting until the fall for the next online group series in favor or a shorter, 4 week offer!! 🔉🔉If you’re super busy and the idea of going to the gym, the drive back & forth, then having to get ready for your day is a big time commitment, I feel that! This program edition is entitled No Frills because the intention is to do the work then go about life. We need to shift our mindset from one of desire to one of action and accomplishment. Instead of simply wishing for something, we are now acknowledging our ability to make it happen. For example, instead of saying "I want to learn how to play the guitar," we can say "I can learn how to play the guitar." “Before embarking on my fitness journey, I led a sedentary lifestyle. The only time I broke a sweat was during walks. In December 2022, Coach invited us to a beginner session. Despite its light intensity, I fainted and couldn’t complete it. Despite being in my mid-20s, I felt incredibly weak. That moment pushed me to prioritise my health. Starting in January 2023, we dedicated one hour of our weekends to fitness. After 10 months, I have become leaner.
