Progress has been slow this weekend with the heat (it was 24⁰ when we gave up today!) but we made progress nonetheless! Still more digging out of the bed to square it off - we're probably halfway there with removing the grass. We massively underestimated how long this task would take and how hard it would be - our plot is clay and I'm pretty sure I could take it into school for the children to model 😂 We did get the baby's tree planted - our council (@baberghsuffolk and @midsuffolk) give a tree to each baby born which is amazing. We've planted it in the middle of the section we are giving over to him, for when he's a little bigger. It's a Gala apple and I'm so excited by the thought of him picking apples from it as he grows up! What glorious weather! 🌞 This Saturday was absolutely beautiful - finally! 🥳 We spent the morning wandering a local woodland & foraging more wild garlic, probably our last forage of the season. We then used the wild garlic to make lots of tasty dishes! 👩🏼🍳 Sunday was dedicated to the plot. I'll admit we haven't spent much time there lately. Between being sick, away & other commitments, the plot has taken a back seat in recent weeks. So, it was nice to spend the day prepping beds and starting to tackle the much needed weeding. The tomatoes are finally all out in the polytunnel. Good timing too because some were almost too big to fit in the car boot 😂 my first go at growing tomatoes from seed and by myself. Last time was when I was a kid and we grew them at my home in North Wales. I planted out all of the flowers I've grown from seed today. I've planted way too many but I'm expecting half to get eaten by the slugs or the rabbits. The malope trifida where already eaten 😡 by the time I went back up to put the chickens to bed. I had to resort to putting a netting fence all around the bed and hopefully the rest survive the night. I've set the wildlife camera up pointing at the bed so hopefully I catch what's doing it and if it is the rabbit there must be a gap somewhere in the chicken wire on the fence that its getting through.

Finally some blossoms on our green gage tree. 🌸 This tree was already on the plot when we inherited it, but there was a problem - it was in a bad spot, right at the front middle of the plot! We were also told it had never produced fruit before.😅 Hubby was determined to give it a chance. We spent multiple weekends digging up the tree, being careful not to break the roots. We then replanted it in a better location near the back of the plot. 💪 Last year we didn't get a single blossom, which was to be expected after the shock of a transplant.
