🌎 In a world where social media affords the ability to edit others’ perception of our lives and delete “negatives” to create a façade of perfection 💁‍♀️🤳, can we take a moment to be real with one another? Because of this, it is easy to isolate ourselves and believe something must be wrong when we struggle or feel negative emotions. We are all humans. But, today's Mindful Monday tip is designed turn your rocky road into a smoother one, because we all know that at the end of the day, winding roads are inevitable, but none of us are designed to go it alone. That said, today we are promoting seeking support. Studies show that seeking support from friends, family, or mental health professionals is crucial for mental wellness. Sharing your feelings and experiences can help alleviate stress, provide validation, and foster a sense of connection and belonging that can prove invaluable. Outlined below are the 3 main things you can do to make seeking support, a more comfortable and authentic experience. TIP # 1 --- Reach Out to Trusted Allies: Identify individuals in your life whom you trust and feel comfortable opening up to, such as friends, family members, or mentors. Express your need for support with honesty and vulnerability, allowing yourself to be open and authentic in your communication. TIP # 2 --- Embrace Supportive Spaces: Seek out environments and communities that foster support and understanding, such as support groups, online forums, or affinity spaces. Surround yourself with individuals who uplift and validate your experiences, creating a supportive network of allies and advocates. TIP # 3 --- Practice Self-Compassion and Patience: Be kind and compassionate toward yourself as you seek support, recognizing that it's okay to ask for help and that you deserve to receive support. Be patient with yourself and others, understanding that seeking support is a gradual process that takes time and effort. ‘Can a landscape heal us? Yes. Will it always? No, not always. Because it’s not the work of land alone to heal human inflicted wounds’ @ruthallen.geotherapist goes on to say that ‘going outside isn’t about one-directional healing and a bypass of the difficult stuff it is about the space to see life more fully.’ I tend to agree with Ruth, and I’m finding my #currentread📖 by this talented outdoor psychotherapist and geologist truly groundbreaking. I’m only about half way through but I’m enjoying hearing about Ruth’s clients; her case studies and the balance between mind, body and the ancient landscape. Having suffered anxiety, depression, burn-out and grief - and sought the help from therapists in the past, I am interested to see where the rest of this truly engaging read will take me. Mondays. 📆 This post is about waking up — so excited to greet the day, There’s birds singing and cats purring… And everything is falling into place. NOT. There is none of that. (Except for the cat purring) And, I’m feeling as if I am at the bottom of a mountain. One that I know I need to climb, but at the moment, Sigh. It just feels like a lot of work with little incentive. Yes, once I start climbing it, I will swing into gear, I will feel better about the week I am about to have. But right now… I need a little boost. A little reminder that it’s only the beginning of the week and so much can happen. So many great things can happen. That’s where this quote came in handy for me.
