POV: This is one of those quotes everyone should print and attach to their computer screen, mirror, and dashboard.⁠ ⁠ Enhancing awareness of our thoughts is essential because they directly and acutely shape our body’s environment. ⁠ ⁠ For example, research has shown our brains create chemicals in response to “sticky thoughts” (the type we can’t let go of or that go around and around in our brain) that are released into our blood and touch and affect each and every cell.⁠ ⁠ 👉Our thoughts literally become our biology. ⁠ ⁠ Mindfulness practices such as meditation, silent walking, saying mantras and prayers, practicing Qi Gong, Tai Chi, or Yoga, spending time in nature, and keeping a gratitude journal are excellent ways to practice witnessing our thoughts vs. reacting to them, like a river flowing over a boulder.⁠ ⁠ Share this with someone who needs to see it!

Wow Place #234: Wat Suan Mokkh, Southern Thailand I go back and forth regarding the “purpose” of travel. On the one hand, I see the benefits of using vacation as a time for rest and rejuvenation. Heck, what is more restorative than a week on the beach, reading a good book while sipping a cold, fizzy drink? On the other hand, travel also presents the opportunity to try new things, to challenge yourself, to step beyond the confines of your comfort zone. A trip to India, for example, is hardly restful or restorative, but it’s VERY worthwhile. Even a polite place like Japan, where relatively few people speak English, can stretch your communication and adaptability skills.
