LETTING GO OF CONTROL 😏 How easy can you let go of control? How easy do you find it to stop holding on so tight? How easy do you find it to take your hands off the steering wheel? It's because of fear. Fear of not knowing the outcome. Fear of something happening that is outside of us and control. This is 100% the case for me when I am in the passenger seat. I hate not driving. I am always the driver. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm always the designated driver 😂 I hate not being in control and I do also feel car sick 🤮😂 I get anxious in case something happens and I am not the one in control. I am constantly on pins watching everything so I can be prepared and alert my husband 😏 Anytime I feel the anxiety starting to build, I close my eyes and take 6 long slow deep breaths. If I catch it on time, this is enough to bring me back to a state of calm. Sometimes we have to let go of control and accept that not everything is in our control. Sometimes things happen that we cannot predict. Sometimes we have to surrender control and let things be. And sometimes we just have to meditate 😉🧘‍♀️ Because meditation helps you accept the things you can't control and focus instead on what you can. it is summer time in Denver, finally! Learning to meditate was the first practice that changed everything. Which is why when I heard it was #WorldMeditationDay I felt inspired and called to share my experience. Although I had done plenty of guided meditation and shorter meditation courses, it was my first 10 Day Vipassana Silent Meditation Retreat in 2019 where I truly met myself for the very first time. This was the first time that I realised, through the stripping back of layers, that I was responsible for all my own suffering. That everything in my life that was causing inner turmoil was of my own making. I was able to see through the stories that kept me stuck in patterns of self sabotage and self destruction. A knowing that brought me to my knees, yet also empowered me to finally become the co-creator of my own reality. Since 2019, my entire experience of life, inside and out, is completely different. Each day I wake up in awe and gratitude for who I get to be and what I get to do in this lifetime. And it all started with going within. With meditation. Since 2019, I have meditated almost every single day, because it works. Meditation is where I meet my Self, each morning. It is my anchor, my grounding and my portal to the divine. And the best part is that I now get to guide others in this too. I hope my story will inspire you to take up your own daily committed practice. Because it really does have the potential to change everything for you, too. Not sure where to start? Today is WORLD MEDITATION DAY 🧘🏻‍♀️✨🧘🏻‍♂️✨ Meditation can be as simple as taking a minute to focus on your breath. The act of breathing in and breathing out. Being aware of the sensation of air travelling into your nostrils as you breathe in and then breathe out again. The rise and fall of your lungs and abdomen as the breath enters then leaves. Focusing on the breath is a good way to lower your stress levels and decrease your heart rate. It's also a very simple form of meditation that can be done anywhere. I run a weekly class for meditation at Seaton Village Hall every Wednesday and a monthly class in the Senhouse Centre in Whitehaven. PRACTICE: Find a comfortable seated or lying position, close your eyes, and let's begin. Preparation: Take a moment to settle into your chosen position, allowing your body to relax and soften. Your risk assessment will help you to identify potential risks to your workers from stress and to take action to protect them Managing your own Stress: 🔶 Be active Exercise won't make your stress disappear, but it can reduce some of the emotional intensity that you're feeling, clearing your thoughts and letting you deal with your problems more calmly. 🔶Connect with people A good support network of colleagues, friends and family can ease your work troubles and help you see things in a different way. 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲! 🧘🏽🙏🏻🧎🏽‍♀️‍➡️❤️🧘🏻‍♀️ Meditation has so many incredible health benefits, it’s changed my life, however there are a lot of misconceptions about it, so I’d like to dispel some of those here: 𝟭.𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲: It’s active. In mediation we learn to step towards & really experience things as they are, not how our thinking mind perceives it to be. 𝟮.𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱: In meditation we learn to observe thoughts & feelings, experiencing them & recognising that while some of them are valid, they are not facts & are temporary. This helps us to better understand thoughts, habits & ultimately ourselves. 𝟯.𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆: It’s helpful & accessible for everyone. If you’re too busy or stressed, you need it! If you’re already happy, you need it, so you’re better able to manage when challenges arise. 𝟰.𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗶𝘅: You wouldn’t go for one run and think you could do a marathon! Meditation practice evolves over time (which is why it’s called a practice!) & every time we meditate it’s different – because so are we! 𝟱.𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲: In fact, it can be a challenge.
