One of the most important things you can learn at an early age is to see people for who they really are and when they reveal themselves to you early on it is imperative that you believe them and not try and make them the friend, family member, business partner or spouse you want them to be. Often times people dream up a reality which comes from either false promises, manipulation or internal desires but to see people for who they really are can save you time, money and energy. Sometimes people are so good at hiding themselves that you have to learn the lesson but learn the lesson and move around quick because people that are that deceptive are evil and will do their best to destroy you once they are exposed. Imagine living in a completely gold leaf covered house surrounded by a meticulously designed garden on a pond. Once belonging to a statesman, then sold to shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1397 and transformed into Kinkaku-ji complex. Kinkakuji was built to echo the extravagant Kitayama culture that developed in the wealthy aristocratic circles of Kyoto during Yoshimitsu’s times. Each floor represents a different style of architecture. Interesting article from Wiki about the history of this structure if interested. On 2 July 1950, at 2:30 am, the pavilion was burned down by a 22-year-old novice monk, Hayashi Yoken (Kinkaku-ji arson incident), who then attempted suicide on the Daimon-ji hill behind the building. He survived, and was subsequently taken into custody. The monk was sentenced to seven years in prison, but was released because of mental illnesses (persecution complex and schizophrenia) on 29 September 1955; he died of tuberculosis in March 1956. During the fire, the original statue of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu was lost to the flames (now restored). Lily's 18th birthday 🎂 2020 Her last birthday before it became her dad's death date. Her last birthday with her dad. You can hear him singing with me. He was standing next to her. This day will always have a double meaning now with mixed emotions, but first & foremost it will still be a day to celebrate my amazing daughter.
