Alright yall that marks the second to last week in my strength phase! I’ve been in a strength phase of training for 5 weeks. The way I’ve designed my training I have 1 more week in strength and then I’ll move on to hypertrophy! I used to be obsessed with weighing myself, every other day I would be on them scales checking my weight to see if I’d lost anything… it turned into a vicious and very unhealthy cycle! I haven’t weighed myself now for a good 2 years, the last time I weighed myself I was 63kg, I don’t have a clue what I weigh now, probably more now due to muscle weight🤞🏼 But Lainey? How do you track your progress? Through pictures, how I feel and how I look! I don’t fixate on the scales anymore because weight is not the be all or end all of working out and keeping fit, your weight is a factor of a number of different things, it isn’t just “fat” or a “heavy bodyweight” it’s so much more than that and the sooner I realised this the better. I always go off how I feel and how I look nowadays, I can physically see a huge difference in my appearance and I’m happy with the progress I’m making, for me personally, there’s no need to weigh myself, I actually find it quite triggering, even with the size I am I know if I stepped onto the scales and it said something like 70kg+ I would instantly think “oh my god I’m overweight” but that really is NOT the case! I speak with a lot of people at the beginning of their journeys say things such as… I’ve tried so many different things in the past. I can’t break past this amount of weight. My whole family are overweight, we’re built like this. I don’t think if it’s possible for someone like me. It can sound quite convincing and if you’ve told yourself things like this for years, then it’s easy to start believing it. But equally, breaking these thought patterns and creating affirmations of belief can be done too... You’ve tried to achieve your fitness goals in the past, but did you have… A bespoke plan. Accountability and guidance for an extended period of time Constant guidance throughout your attempt. Potentially not… You can’t breakthrough this weight but how long did you try for? Did you push through when it got hard? Were you patient, committed, adherent for 3,6,9 months? Probably not. But my family are overweight, so what? There might be a small chance that you are pre-disposed to being overweight but that doesn’t mean you can’t be at a healthy weight with the right habits and lifestyle in place. Right? Your family may be built like this, that’s because they’ve accepted the norm and haven’t done enough to change. #harshbuttrue. It’s not possible for someone like me, anything is possible as long as you’re willing to give it your all. That’s the beauty of taking control of your body and health, it’s black and white, you get out what you put in. It might not be a six pack or bikini body, but there’s a version of yourself that is full of confidence, has control of their health and is happy within their skin. This is available to everyone, you simply have to make the decision and start. So it’s time to drop these demoralising thought patterns and start taking action. 💥

Old man muscle: Staying at an Air BNB so no magical hotel lighting now 🙁 For the most part, I’ve relied majorly just on diet to get lean, however lately I’ve been trying to do more cardio either in zone 2 cardio for 30 minutes, and/or getting a minimum of 5000 steps in a day (the ideal being 10,000)… @gregdoucetteifbbpro pushes a lot for 150 minutes per week. The benefit to cardio is that it increases mitochondrial density more than weight training… one’s metabolism is affected by many factors, two of them being muscle mass and mitochondrial density… the more mitochondria you have the better “fat burner” you are as that is where fat is burned… however, There is often a lot of concern about losing or “burning” muscle with too much cardio because of elevated cortisol levels. And if you’ve seen, many marathoners can either be very low in muscle mass and/or carry more fat than you’d expect (note, I didn’t say all, but many)… It is warranted, but it can also depend, or be alleviated, with a few factors… as always, it depends on what your goals are, if you are trying to maintain, if not even gain some muscle but want to lean out a bit (and get more healthy cardiovascular-wise) then I’d suggest the following… - make sure to get a minimum of 1g/lb of protein for body weight - use less “impact cardio”, ie running, note, I didn’t say avoid… walking at a slight incline for 30 minutes is fine - if you are going to run, ld limit to only a couple times a week - use the Schwynn Airdyne, aka “assault bike” as it’s no impact and using upper and lower body With that, you may also be able to restrict calories a little less, ie, you can eat a bit more and not feel as deprived. #fitdad #antidadbod #fitlife #noexcuses #homegym #weightlifting #training #bebiggerthanyourexcuses #healthyeating #healthyfood #mydadisstrongerthanyourdad #weightraining #weighttraining #bodybuilding
