Early morning in the Witch Tree Kitchen sitting in my armchair by the kitchen table waiting for the kettle to boil for my first herbal Witches Brew of the day and the ole house is still and silent. These seemingly insignificant moments are the lifeblood of our existence and if I'm truly present and mindful they are the vehicle for providing energy to then go on and deal with the harder or more exciting events in life. It's vital Witch's energy work to gift to myself avenues of acquiring energy. This ole house that gives Lizzie and I peaceful shelter and positive energy is much loved. Every so often I place both of my hands on her walls and thank her Spirit for her love and care and leave an offering on the hearth. In Romany culture the home, which was a Vardo, was so loved and united in spirit to the owner that upon the owners death the family would cremate the deceased inside their Vardo, both the spirit of the home and the deceased crossing over together. Wishing you have many of these wee precious moments in your day. I also wish you were here to share a Witches Brew with me! The Full Harvest Moon over the Witch Tree Garden This Full Moon I decided to perform a Return to Sender spell for someone who required it. I would normally perform this kind of spell on the Waning Moon cycle, but the exception is that the Full Harvest Moon in Aries is a time to create boundaries and cut ties; it's a time to develop your personal power and remove anything from your life that is infringing on your capability to grow and flourish. After the spell I went into the Witch Tree Garden and thanked the Goddess for her energy and asked for her blessings upon my client. It was a breathtaking sight, though there was cloud cover, though it was cold, though I was tired, I stayed out there with the Goddess for a fair wee while in the glorious quiet of the night. Yesterday my lovely friend Suzie popped round with a statue I had bought from her shop @theluckymagpiesalvage. Suzie's knowledge of antiques, curios and collectibles is astounding, I could listen to her talk for hours, in fact that's what we did, a proper kitchen table catch up with my Witches Brew herbal tea and lovely conversation. Time just flew by! If you're ever in Chesterfield pop into her shop, it's so beautifully curated with a terrific welcoming energy and I guarantee you will be spoilt for choice regardless of your budget. Alternatively, have a browse of her newly designed website (link in her insta bio) or take a look at her Instagram account. Suzie is always happy to help with any of your enquiries. My statue looks beautifully at home in the Witch Tree Garden Suzie, thank you so much for her! It was so lovely to see you Suzie, I'm very lucky to be able to call you friend! First Sunset of Autumn over the Witch Tree Garden. As soon as night falls I'll make my Mabon offering and place a candle in the window to invite my Ancestors to join me in my Mabon rite. As the veil is thinned I'll keep a light on every night on my windowsill to guide my Ancestors to join me in my daily life. My Ancestors are always with me in Spirit, but at this time they are more present, able to interact more freely and with greater energy. You are never alone, beside you stands generations of Ancestors who desire your highest good. A waking dream of the perfect balance of light and dark amongst the trees. Where you stand in darkness, look up and the light filters through the leaves no matter how deeply you venture into the forest. In Nature there is always balance. Mabon: I've been pottering around starting to get my Mabon Altar ready. Mabon is on the 23rd September (my late Irish Granny's birthday) and is a Sabbat celebrating the Autumn Equinox, a time of equal dark and equal light. A time of balance. At the second harvest Mabon Sabbat I like to evaluate my life and address any imbalances. What am I doing too little of, too much of? What is taking too much of my time, what do I need to spend more time on? Who needs more of me and my attention, who needs less attention? What is making me happy or unhappy? How can I create more internal balance? Is my energy balanced? Do I balance my shadow self with my lighter persona. I will be giving thanks for the areas of my life that are balanced and for all the bountiful harvest that the good earth of The Witch Tree Garden has produced so far this year. I've made offerings decorating the Altar with apples, rosehips, rowan berries, hazelnuts, pine cones, yarrow, tansy and straw flowers harvested from the Witch Tree Garden. The Hunter in the Witch Tree Garden A garden spider has taken up residence in an outdoor lantern in the Witch Tree Garden. She's sheltered in there from the elements, but around the lantern she has built possibly the most sizeable and intrecate web I have ever seen! She's capturing dinners left, right and centre! She's expertly wrapping and storing large juicy snacks of wasps and crane flies. What a hunter! I like to take notice of the lives of all creatures no matter how small. They are an important part of our ecosystem and spiders are a gardeners best friend, keeping pests at bay. As a Witch I like to work with their Spirits. The Spider is thought to assist in matters requiring strategy, they are protectors, they represent balance between light and dark and therefore useful in shadow work. For me, the spider is a symbol of strong femininity and of course I adore them because the spider is Lizzie's familiar. In Celtic Spiritually the spider is associated with the Goddess Arianrhod as the weaver of humankind's fate. They are a positive symbol of wisdom, patience, destiny and fate. Bless all the little creatures fulfilling their state in the intrecate web of life. Much love, Tree ๐Ÿ’œ xx #spider #spiderspiritanimal #familiar #spiritanimals #celticwitchcraft #celticwitch #thewitchtreegarden #thewitchtree #celticwitch #celticspirituality #celtichedgewitch #shadowwork #goddessarianrhod

Witch Tools: A Witch's Compass A witch requires a compass in their practice to create a Sacred Circle and set aside a working magickal space from the mundane. It establishes true North and aids the Witch to create a liminal space where the old ways are enacted and the old God's and Goddesses and Spirits are called forth. The difference between a Witch and a Pagan is that a Witch crosses the boundaries between the living and the dead, a traveller between worlds. Therefore this is a shamanic practice and by establishing the four directions, North, South, East and West, the directions of the Wind, the Witch has learnt to recognise their energies and harness and work with them in their practice. When working outdoors in Nature take your compass with you, it has a twofold use, establishing the four directions and knowing where you are! Don't get lost in the Woods Witches! Witches also use their compass when creating a new Altar and which way it should face . Your Altar can face any of the four directions depending on which Element you wish to work with, North - Earth, South - Fire, East - Air or West -Water. May the Four Directions Bless you, Lotsa love Tree ๐Ÿ’œ xx Pictured: my compass #witchtool #witchescompass #witchstools #witchscompass #witchesmagiccircle #magiccircle #occult #celticwitch #celtichedgewitch #celticpagan #celticwitchcraft #celtichedgewitchcraft #hedgewitch #hedgewitchcraft #hedgewitchery #newwitchtips #newwitcheswelcome

I recently put new labels on all of my spell bottles that are on the Printers drawer on my Altar, of course I had my beautiful assistant, Winter helping me! I thought some of you might like to see close ups of the Print Maker's drawer; it took me ages to find this drawer online. I needed one with large enough compartments to store small spell bottles, crystals and curios and so when the right one became available I snapped it up. I have literally done nothing to the drawer except give it a good dust and smudge it to cleanse it. Most of the small spell bottles are bottles I've saved, wee bottles that had beauty products in them etc I gave them a good wash, smudged them and set them aside to use in my practice. In truth, my guilty secret is that I'm forever saving bottles and jars that might come in for my practice, I have a dedicated cupboard in my kitchen for storing them! It's a witch thing, if you know, you know! I felt like some Nasturtium flowers, leaves and seeds to eat in my salad wrap at lunch, I love their peppery taste and I also felt in need of a Tansy and Yarrow herbal tea to go with my wrap. So at first light, I stepped out into the Witch Tree Garden to pick some Nasturtiums, Tansy and Yarrow. I ended up getting snip happy and harvested a bunch of crops and herbs! As you can see in the first photograph I'm going to dry a few Sunflower heads for their seeds and the petals I'll dry for making herbal teas. I'm drying the Echinacea petals for use in teas and beauty products and with the rhubarb I'm hoping Lizzie is going to make one of her delicious rhubarb crumbles! I also harvested Mint, Lemon balm, Borage, Chard, Chives, Apple Mint, Chamomile, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme, Clary Sage, Calendula and Violas. I placed a vase of Tansy and Yarrow in gratitude for our harvest on our Altar. I have planted Tansy and Yarrow all around the Witch Tree Garden, especially along boundaries as a ward, they are both highly protective plants. If you know me, you know my favourite herb is Yarrow, but Tansy is a close contender, I just love it's fragrance. Tansy is so protective, you can hang it over doorways to protect your home or use it to create a ward as I have done. The Graveyard of the Church of St Mary's and All Saints, Chesterfield. Lizzie and I recently visited this graveyard to pay our respects and make an offering. It's an old Graveyard that's no longer used to bury the dead and perhaps that's why it's so sorely neglected. On the South side of the church they've moved the gravestones and propped them up against a wall, now people sit on the grassed area where the graves are, I find that deeply disrespectful. It's thought up to 20,000 bodies are buried on this side of the church, dating as far back as the Black Death! So, to try and balance the poor energy of this graveyard Lizzie and I left an offering. One offering isn't going to balance the low turgid energy here folks, it's going to take a lot of energy work to heal this site. As Samhain approaches and the veil thins I will be working hard to try and restore harmony. Your energy to help with this would be greatly appreciated! I asked the Good Folk for a Raven feather and as I was watering the Witch Tree Garden I found a Raven feather lying on The Good Folk Altar. Gifts from the Good Folk come at a price, they don't have the same morals as humans, they will expect something I value as a gift in return. So I'll gift them a crystal and a piece of jewellery or broken pottery. Tread carefully with the Good Folk, always! Lizzie and I popped over to our local Antiques Flea Market and visited one of our favourite stalls where I purchase most of my crystals from. It's run by a couple of fellas who are Mudlarks, they're so interesting to talk with and their knowledge of artifacts, historical finds, crystals and fossils is out of this world! I purchased this Sphalerite crystal piece, it was found by the same elderly rock hound who has been digging for crystals in the UK since the 1970's. Sphalerite is a zinc sulphide mineral that crystallises. I will be using this crystal for grounding, focusing energy, manifestation and protection. It's energy is so solid, strong and yet gentle. For me, the walk to the site is a spiritual preparation for our Offering and Ritual at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, Derbyshire. I asked for permission from the Spirits of Place to perform the Offering and Ritual as I walked through the trees and forest floor flora. I asked for their blessings and to lend their energies. Mental and spiritual preparation is as important as making sure you have all your spell ingredients etc! So I thought I'd share some photographs of the walk to the site as well as Sharon and Lizzie laughing at photos they'd taken of me ๐Ÿคฃ, a little information on The Nine Ladies and Sharon seated inside the stone circle having a quiet moment. The Nine Ladies Stone Circle, Derbyshire. Yesterday, Lizzie, Sharon and I went to The Nine Ladies to make an offering and perform a Sigil Ritual. It's such a peaceful and magickal site dating from the Bronze Age created around 4000 years ago. I led the offering walking the circumference of the stone circle whilst sprinkling our herbal offering and saying 'Spirits of this Land, accept our offering in Your honour to heal Your suffering inflicted by humanity. Heal the relationship between Land and humanity and bless all who honour You, So Mote It Be!' We all then gathered in the centre of the circle and made our own personal offerings. I left a sprinkling of the herbal offering and a sprig of Heather. It's important when making offerings or performing rituals at sacred sites and in nature to only leave natural items. Lizzie then led our Sigil Ritual after which we spent time sitting in the stone circle in her energies and peace. Other visitors to the stone circle enjoyed watching our offering and ritual and were very respectful. Of course, on the way home we popped into Edensor village for a cream scone and coffee. Oh my, delicious! If you ever visit the village of Edensor, near Chatsworth pop into the Edensor Tea Cottage and treat yourself to a pastry, cake or a cream scone because frankly folks, life's too short not to! Yesterday I harvested Hazelnuts & Rowan Berries from the Witch Tree Garden. It's the first year that our maturing trees have produced an abundance of nuts & berries, the Rowan tree's young branches were bending under the weight of the berries so I thought it safer to harvest them before any breakages occur. I've left plenty for the birds & squirrels. Although if you want any nuts at all, harvest them while they're still green & let them ripen off the tree or the squirrels will nab the lot! I set some of the harvest aside & late last night I made an offering to their Dryads of nuts & berries in thanks & for future abundant harvests. The Rowan (Mountain Ash) or in the Irish Ogham it is the second letter of the alphabet named Luis. Any parts removed from the Rowan must only be used for sacred purposes; I will be making protection garlands to hang around my home, necklaces & Rowan jelly infused with magickal intention. The Rowan is a highly protective tree & it is advised that every witch should plant one on or near their property. The Goddess Brigid is often depicted carrying a staff made from Rowan signifying it's importance in the Irish Celtic tradition. The Hazel Tree, the ninth letter of the Irish Ogham named Coll, is a tree of wisdom & knowledge said to be growing at the centre of the Otherworld & associated with Aengus, one of the Tuatha De Danann. Eating hazelnuts is thought to bring wisdom & knowledge as the Salmon in Irish mythology gained knowledge eating hazelnuts. Hazel wood is used to create divination rods to find ley lines & water sources. If you want to uncover hidden knowledge consult the Hazel Tree! Come through the portal to the Witch Tree Garden. Leave the mundane behind and enter into her magick and mystery. Today I've foraged Rosehips, Rowan berries, Hazelnuts, Dandelion leaves, Sorrel leaves, Calendula, Wild Chicory, Borage and Nasturtium flowers and leaves from the Witch Tree Garden. It's the first harvest from my young Rowan and Hazel trees so tonight, I'll be making an offering at my Altar to their Dryads in their honour and a blessing for abundant harvests in the future. Dedication of Items For Magickal Use: my method of dedicating an item for magickal purposes may differ from yours so I would be interested to learn how you consecrate an item. My practice is as follows 1) I wash my hands & face in holy water and robe. Before I call in my Gods and Goddesses, The Elements, The Good Folk, The Witch Tree Garden Dryads & Nature Spirits, I prepare my Altar by making sure I have all the items I need & light candles & incense. I then ring my Altar bell & call my Gods, Goddesses, etc. 2) I take a sage wand, light it & cleanse the item of unwanted energies, to stress, this is not cleansing Lizzie's energies, they are very important to remain infused in the vase (she has marked sigils on the back, our astrological signs etc). I use the sage smoke to remove the energies of anyone or any spirit who may have come into contact with the item saying 'I cleanse this item of any unwanted energies, may it be fit for my purposes and Lizzie's and our purposes alone. As I will it, So it is!' I breathe over the item to cleanse further with my breath as I speak the aforementioned words. 3) I take Rosemary oil & anoint the vase internally and exteriorly at the top, bottom & around the circumference of the body of the vase in a spiral from the centre to the top upwards & from the centre to the bottom downwards, this charges the vase to give & receive in full measure, however it may be used in our practice in future. For example, we may fill it with wine as an offering, the upward spiral assists in sending the energy of the offering. If we were to write an intention on a piece of Silver Birch bark & place it in the vase, the downward spiral assists in receiving our intention. 4) I thank the Gods and Goddesses & Spirits for their presence & assistance by saying 'I leave you now in gratitude, respect, love & peace.' 5) I leave the vase on the Altar to attune to the energies of Lizzie and I & our home. I blow out the candles & leave the incense to burn in honour of my Deities. Offering to Bast: last night, in the calm dark hour of midnight, after my niece Becky had left, we made an incense offering of Sage and Catnip incense harvested from the Witch Tree Garden and sprayed perfume around the Altar in honour of Bast in thanks for bringing little Dr Hannibal Lecter MD and Lestat, Winter and Constantine into our care. Bast or Bastet, daughter of Ra, is the Egyptian Goddess of cats and when she places a cat into your care, she takes her scroll of papayrus and writes your name on it. How you then care for her feline children she has entrusted to your keeping will determine the reward she grants you in this life and the Otherworld. Bast calls to those she feels are worthy, this is no small matter! If Bast has deemed you worthy to work with her, you are extremely blessed! In return for your care of her feline children she will protect you and your home; keeping your home free of all evil spirits. She will protect you and your children from illness and disease, increase fertility and abundance and deepen your emotional and physical relationships. Thanksgiving to Hekate: today I'm making an offering of Lavender Incense I made from Lavender growing in the Witch Tree Garden. The offering is in gratitude to Hekate for her care and protection. This photograph of me hangs by the front door in the hallway. I was thirty years old when this photograph was taken by Lizzie's Dad (that's over twenty years ago!) We were in Walton Park in Derbyshire in the dark drinking wine deep in the trees. That same year I fell pregnant with Lizzie โค๏ธ I placed the photograph on our Altar and burnt the incense whilst saying: Hail Hekate, Queen of Witches, Guardian of My Spirit, Mother of my heart, Peace of my mind. Rosemary Infused Olive Oil : This is really straightforward to make Folks, ask the Rosemary plant for some of her leaves, this prepares the plant for being cut and she can withdraw her energy from the parts being cut. Cut off the amount you require, wash the Rosemary leaves thoroughly and dry off the water with paper towels. Take a bottle you can seal and place the Rosemary leaves on the stem inside the bottle, decant Olive Oil into the bottle, seal and label (date). Leave for thirty days to allow the Rosemary to infuse into the oil and shake occasionally. After thirty days use in cooking, beauty products and as a hair conditioner. Truth told he was probably thinking, 'What are those two idiots doing, I'll follow 'em and find out!' ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿš๐Ÿฆ€ On a sidenote the beach is so interesting with a lovely balance between sand and rock pools plus it's VERY clean, I haven't seen any litter at all. Lughnasadh Ancestor Altar : my Irish Granny loved Freesias so every Sabbat and Esbat I place Freesias on the Ancestor Altar. I bought red Freesias in keeping with the colours of Lughnasadh. I left bread, blue corn, ceremonial tobacco and a tipple of Jamesons Whiskey for all my other resting Ancestors. Lughnasadh is the first harvest and those who have passed onto the Summerlands have harvested their reward for living an honourable life. At Lughnasadh I hedgeride and honour the spiritual harvest of my Ancestors and ask for their help to live an honourable life and reap my own reward in due time. Voice of Souls Oracle Deck : A Message of Peace : I made a four card reading for you as a general reading. I've included parts of the guidebook interpretation of the reading but as I turned over each card it became clear to me a vast number of people are in need of peace. So I've thrown out the rule book and will give you this reading using my intuition. We need to educate ourselves how to achieve peace within ourselves and manifest that into wider society. Through education and understanding of each other we can achieve peace and from peace comes abundance. If we humbly return to Source and utilise the pure energy of Source we will become educated and enlightened, we will find peace, we will share peace and abundance will follow. I have been passing through an awkward spiritual phase, a minor dark night of the soul. I've found it hard to practice my Craft, Lughnasadh came and went and I did the minimum required to celebrate it. The internet has a wicked habit of everyone creating a perfect image, personally I dislike it. I like reality. By knowing reality we are educated. My spiritual funk will pass, it always does, this darkness comes and goes again, this is the nature of my path. After many years of this pattern I have made my peace with it and trust that Source has a reason to have me endure it. Yes there are those in the world who like to cause disorder and havoc, war and discord, they like these disasters, they capitalise on it, lining their pockets on the back of suffering. Don't you concern yourself with people that choose that evil path. Go to Source and ask for peace, share that peace with others, hold onto your peace even in the darkness and you will have abundance spiritually, physically, mentally and enough to meet your material needs. Sending you peace friends, lotsa love Tree ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ xx #oraclecards #oracledeck #voiceofsouls #voiceofsoulsoraclecards #peace #abundance #education #source #sourceenergy #celticwitch #witchywoman #tarotreader #tarotreading #tarot #celtichedgewitch #neopaganism #druid #newwitcheswelcome #darknightofthesoul

Rain : first light over the Witch Tree Garden and the Element of Water takes centre stage, again! This is a Summer of the Element of Water for us, whilst other Nations exist under the Element of Fire. Balance of the Elements has been lost. Are we listening to what the Elements are teaching us about balance and energy? We're so arrogant, always seeking to force Mother Nature to submit to us, to control Her, instead of seeking balance and harmony with Her. It's laughable! The Goddess will make us submit to Her, She will command the Elements into their most extreme forms until energetical balance is restored. Meanwhile the Witch Tree Garden isn't producing the crops she usually does. There isn't enough Sun, it isn't warm enough and her root crops will rot in the Earth. If that's the case in our tiny home 'farm', what do you think is happening to the world's food supplies? What will happen to food prices, not forgetting what war is doing to wheat and oil prices? I'm so tired of all the talking about climate change, all the debates. The time for talking is over, it's time to act to restore balance! Do you think those in a position to restore balance will actually do so? I think they have no intentions of living in harmony with the planet! What do you think? Happy Lughnasadh Friends! A look inside my Grimoire at Lughnasadh, the first of the three harvest festivals. Lughnasadh, also known as Lammas meaning 'loaf mass' or 'loaf festival' is a feast of thanksgiving for the fruits and grain ready to be harvested. To celebrate Lughnasadh/Lammas you could hold a feast of seasonal fruits and vegetables, bake bread, make a summer pudding using fruits and berries you have harvested. You could decorate your home and Altar in the colours of red, yellow and orange with candles, seasonal flowers, herbs and sheaves of wheat. You could place harvested fruit on your Altar as an offering to your Deities whilst burning an incense offering. Now is the time to save seeds to use next year. Early in the morning you could go foraging in your garden or local countryside and harvest herbs to dry and use until next Lughnasadh. You could go and spend time in Nature, noticing the changes of the season. However you choose to celebrate Lughnasadh I hope you find joy in the Sabbat! From little Constantine here (who took great interest in my Grimoire) and myself, we're sending you all the energy of abundance and prosperity! Blessed Lughnasadh! Ring Magick in Witchcraft: whenever I go out absolutely anywhere I always wear rings for magickal purposes. A ring or circle is very powerful in Pagan symbolism, it is completeness and everlasting energy in a loop. The energy is balanced within the confines of my property and once I step out I am entering into and interacting with energies that I should not meet with unprepared. Ring Magick is one way of using the hands (left hand for receiving energy and right hand for sending energy)to balance my energy whilst away from my environment and also to balance the energy of anyone I encounter or any place I am visiting. The rings I am wearing are all based in my practice of Irish Celtic Paganism from the silver Claddagh rings, to the Celtic silver knot rings, to the silver Triquetra ring, to the silver Cernunnos ring, to the ring made from an Irish Copper Penny alongside silver rings with crystals embedded in them. I wear Moonstone to lift energies around me and soothe the souls of those I meet. I wear the silver Obsidian ring and the silver Triquetra for my protection. I wear the silver Cernunnos ring for protection but should I need to cast a spell it adds to the power of my finger as I point it with or without my Willow Root Wand. As you can see, I have taken the basis of Ring Magick and adapted it to my Celtic practice. After I have worn my rings I cleanse them with incense and charge them in the Moonlight. If you are interested to learn more about Ring Magick I have included some information I have found online for you to read in the photographs as it's too lengthy to go into here. Do you practice Ring Magick and how do you adapt it to your practice? Good morning friends! I spent yesterday evening in my Art Studio honouring Cernunnos with prayer, chanting, candles and burning an incense blend I created. I did a one card general reading for all of you from the Druid Craft Tarot deck and The Raven Oracle. I think this reading is self explanatory, we are all in need of healing, to take care of ourselves, body, mind and soul and to give to and do for ourselves what we need to do in order to heal be that a hobby, a holiday, a course of medical treatment, therapy, a trip or night out with friends, a healthy diet, better sleep routine, a spiritual cleanse, etc. But know friends that no matter what needs healing in your life, the core of you that is the observer, that is the true you, can never be injured, this you is always whole, pure and well. With Constantine and Winter by my side I ended the evening inspired by The Muse and doodled some ideas in my sketchbook for some artworks I plan on creating. A blessed Moon's Day to you and a peaceful week ahead! This evening as the Full Honey Moon begins to Wane I made an offering and burnt Dragons Blood Incense to give thanks for Lizzie's recovery. I created a spell bottle for Lizzie's health years ago and it sits on the Printmakers Drawer hanging over our Altar. I charged the spell bottle on the Altar and gently shook it to build the energy of the spell. I lit a candle to Mother Mary for Lizzie. Last week I gathered some wild grasses from the fields behind the hospital. I will use some in my apothecary but some I will plant in the Grove to introduce wild grasses into the Witch Tree Garden. I am currently drying them in a vase on the hearth to fill them with energy from the centre of our home. The hearth of the fireplace is a powerful energy area in a witch's home. I'm off to the hairdresser tomorrow for a long overdue haircut. I'll be asking for the locks of my hair the hairdresser cuts off to use in my practice and to protect my energies. Witches must guard their hair and never let it fall into the hands of others. Wishing you all a magickal weekend! Gold Magick: Lizzie needed to have emergency surgery today, I needed a fast healing spell, so as I quickly got ready to go and see her before her surgery I threw on a pair of 22ct Gold earrings. Gold, The Master Healer, is the most magickally potent of all metals and when worn with healing crystals it increases their energy. I took Lizzie's hand with my right hand and gave her all of the energy, ahead of her surgery, from the jewellery spells I was wearing as well as my own love and energy and all the love and healing energy from friends and family. She had surgery late this evening and her Nurse tells me it has been successful. I spoke with her briefly but she was very drowsy from the anaesthetic. I'm now charging the gold earrings on my jewellery box which is encrusted with Amber, so that tomorrow I can give Lizzie more healing energy. I know that your kindness and healing energy is helping Lizzie and I am very grateful to each one of you, I'm so lucky to have you all in my life! Yesterday, as part of my Summer Solstice celebrations I picked some flowers and herbs from the Witch Tree Garden for pressing in my Flower Press. It's the optimum time to harvest flowers and herbs when the Sun is at it's fullest energy and strength in the early morning of Midsummer. I harvested some flowers and herbs to dry for use in the kitchen and in my practice as well as setting some aside to press to use in my Grimoire, for Arts projects and for use in my practice. I've kept a flower press since being a wee lass. My Da made me a small flower press out of wood scraps and helped me collect flowers so that I would learn to identify them. I stuck them clumsily in a scrapbook, we'd look up the flowers in an identification book and in my childish handwriting I'd record their names next to the pressed flowers. I use a bigger press these days, but every time I press a flower I'm reminded of my happy wee childhood hobby ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ’œ xx #flowerpressing #flowerpress #herbs #flowers #wildflowers #celticwitchcraft #celticwitch #celtichedgewitchcraft #celtichedgewitch #celticpagan #hedgewitchery #hedgewitch #hedgewitchcraft #hedgwitchesofinstagram #neopaganism #druid #paganism #newwitcheswelcome #newwitchtips #thewitchtreegarden #thewitchtree #summerequinox #summersolstice

I cut a single Rose stem from the White Rosebush in The Witch Tree Garden at the front of our house, for Lizzie to put on her Altar in her room. Our White Rosebush is over twenty one years old and still going strong but I can't share it's most beautiful quality with you and that's it's scent! I didn't plant this Rosebush, the elderly lady who owned the ole house previously planted it, her name was Mrs White and she died in the living room. For many years the Spirit of Mrs White lived here with us, I would glimpse her in the kitchen in her pink skirt and apron by the sink. My daughter told me a lady cuddled her at night when she was alone in bed as a child. My neighbours told me Mrs White wanted children but was unable to have them. For many years we cohabited because she wasn't ready to pass and I felt it important to allow her to see her home with the family energy of children, it made Mrs White happy. Year after year she stayed until one day I told her she had passed into Spirit and perhaps now was the time for her to join her husband in the Summerlands. She left. I think she left knowing I would take care of everything in her home, especially her beloved Roses and my Lizzie. An Angle Shades Moth having a wee rest on my back door. I'm always amazed how they look like a dried autumn leaf when their wings are folded. There is a reason we see the creatures that come across our path. A moth is a good omen and a message of hope and good fortune. The moth is a symbol of change, transformation, intuition, adaptability and trustworthiness. I will make a note of my encounter with the Angle Shades in my Dreams, Signs and Omens Diary because this is significant, a guiding moment from the Universe. Know Thyself : I recently purchased these journals from Waterstones to use in conjunction with my Shadow work. As we all know one of the precepts of Witchcraft is to 'Know Thyself'. It isn't just about knowing all our good points, our likes and dislikes or our personality type, though those aspects are important to explore, it is more important to know the hidden parts of ourselves, those aspects that we prefer not to show to others or even to ourselves, our Shadow self. To balance energy within ourselves is an ongoing daily practice. It's not a one time job and then our energy is permanently balanced. Energy ebbs and flows, we are influenced and react to energy around us. We use and lose energy. We get sick and have to withdraw to invest our energy in healing ourselves. The practice of Witchcraft is to be mindful of our own energy, practice continual internal balancing of our energy which then aids us to more effectively influence and balance energy outside of ourselves. Journals are a tool to assist us in focusing our efforts on what internally needs balancing. I keep many journals including a dream journal which is just a notebook where I record my dreams and explore my subconscious, a hedgeriding journal, an omens and signs journal, a Muse inspirations and ideas journal etc and I suppose my Book of Shadows could be described as a journal of my Craft, a spiritual journal. We will always shock and surprise ourselves, we will never know ourselves entirely, each one of us is an evolving mysterious story acting and reacting energetically within time and space, we are multitudes, we are the Universe expressing itself infinitely! Who wouldn't want to try to love, know and understand that?! Hexing and Cursing: I can count on one hand the amount of times over the years I have had to hex someone. It's not something I would enter into lightly. This is the only way left to address this particular situation. I spent this afternoon devising my hex spell and gathering together ingredients. I have had a Ritual bath to prepare myself for the spell. I have spent the evening in meditation with incense burning to prepare my mind. Never perform a hex or curse in anger, that energy is unpredictable, so always have a calm state of mind and balanced calm energy. Tomorrow I will perform the hex. The Gorse in the Witch Tree Garden is in full bloom. I picked some of her flowers yesterday to use for it's magickal properties but the flower is edible. Gorse is associated with Beltaine and was traditionally burnt on the Bel fires because of it's connection with the God Lugh, it's yellow flowers symbolic of the Sun. Today I want to concentrate on Gorse's magickal properties and it's health benefits. Gorse is traditionally used in magick to attract money and prosperity, it's bright yellow reminiscent of gold. Other magickal properties of Gorse is protection, love, faith, optimism, spiritual and physical strength, happiness and joy. Use in spell jars, mojo bags, sachets, dry and burn as an incense offering, sprinkle around the exterior of your home for protection, hang outside above an exterior door for protection of the home and it's occupants. You can use it to attract the Good Folk if you connect with them in your practice. Wear to attract love or for personal protection. In the pea and bean family, Gorse flowers and flower buds are edible, the rest of the tree (leaves, bark etc) are toxic. Gorse can be used in many culinary recipes such as ice-cream, mead, tea, jam, tarts, cakes, syrups, cordials, gin, etc. When eaten Gorse is said to stabilise and lift the mood and was an early treatment for depression. It tastes and smells like a combination of almond and coconut. Gorse flowers are available to buy online for culinary and magickal purposes or you can forage your own supply. If you do pick your own Gorse flowers wear garden gloves, it's a very prickly customer! #gorse #gorsetree #gorseshrub #gorseflowers #gorsebuds #edibleflowers #magickalproperties #spells #celticwitchcraft #ogham #celticpaganism #celtichedgewitchcraft #celticpagansofinstagram #celticwitch #celticpagan #celtichedgewitch #hedgewitch #hedgewitchery #hedgewitchcraft #kitchenwitchery #kitchenwitch #paganism #neopaganism #neopagan #druidry #newwitcheswelcome #newwitchtips #witchtreegarden

The Pentagram is a powerful protection symbol. I made this Pentagram using five equal lengths of Gorse wood from the Witch Tree Garden. Gorse, associated with the God Lugh, is a highly protective tree and the 17th character of the Ogham. The Irish name for Gorse is Aiteann 'aith' meaning sharp and 'tenn' meaning lacerating. Gorse, due to its prickly nature guards the entrance to the Otherworld and remains under the protection of the Good Folk. If you hang it over an exterior threshold it will protect the home and its occupants. The Pentagram is not based in evil or any kind of evil practice, this is disinformation. Each point of the Pentagram represents the four Elements, Earth, Water, Air, Fire and the top fifth point represents Spirit. To wear or place the Pentagram on your property is to call on the Earth's elements and the Divine to protect you, your property and your loved ones. However the Pentagram has been portrayed is not it's original meaning as used in Earth based pagan beliefs. I have this Pentagram hung amongst my trees for their protection and to protect the boundaries of my property. I have them hung on many trees in the Witch Tree Garden. Fiddlehead Ferns: I didn't plant these ferns in the Witch Tree Garden, they were planted by the previous owner of our home. When we moved here there were only a couple of ferns, but over the years I've allowed them to spread in certain areas as ferns have highly protective magickal properties. Some I have removed and used in terrariums. You will only find Fiddlehead ferns in May in the UK so it's a very short window of opportunity to enjoy them. This morning I went out into The Witch Tree Garden in search of fresh new fern shoots to use as vegetables for our evening meal. They are so delicious, tasting like asparagus. You must never eat them raw as they contain a trace amount of a toxin and are bitter when raw, so cook your Fiddlehead ferns for five minutes or more to remove the toxin and bitterness. First wash thoroughly and make sure to remove any brown leaves, then cook by roasting, saute, braise, steaming or pickling after blanching. I will be steaming mine. Then serve as you would asparagus. I also foraged some wild violets for a cup of tea with my evening meal and some Dandelion flowers to dry for use later. Winter has taken a great interest in a wood pigeon feather I found and as usual is busy helping and getting in the middle of everything! I forgot to retrieve my Full Moon water from our outdoor Altar, so it was a good job I went foraging in the garden this morning! (Old age!๐Ÿ˜‚) As always, when foraging only take small amounts of what you need and leave plenty for the local wildlife to enjoy. By the last light yesterday evening I took a stroll around the Witch Tree Garden and beneath her trees the Bluebells and Lily of the Valley had come into full bloom. The Bluebells appeared with one plant in the Witch Tree Garden, how they got there I will never know, but over the years they have multiplied and spread. I planted the Lily of the Valley bulbs decades ago and every year they come back, spreading a little further every time. Nature reclaims barren space, she only knows creativity, even when she destroys it is to recreate the landscape. She fills every inch of land, sea and sky with life, we are part of her creativity, she created us to assist in her creative process. The audacity to think we could work against her, overpower her, abuse her! She will destroy to recreate without us if necessary. As I took these photographs and thanked the Divas of each plant and flower, the Dryads of the trees that shelters them and the Green Man I felt hope for this planet because whether we act or not, Mother Nature will act and we will no longer be in partnership with her in those actions. She is tired of waiting for us to work with her. This is our last light. May we take action urgently in harmony with Mother Nature before she takes action without us. #divas #dryads #selfseeded #bluebells #lilyofthevalley #witchtreegarden #globalwarming #environment #climatechange #climateemergency #environmentallyconscious #mothernature #mothergaia #preservation #pagangarden #gardening #celticwitchcraft #celtichedgewitchcraft #celticwitch #celtichedgewitch #celticpagansofinstagram #hedgewitch #hedgewitchery #hedgewitchcraft #neopaganism #neopagan #newwitcheswelcome #newwitchtips

Maranata leuconeura: or commonly known as Prayer Plant because it's leaves fold up on themselves at night and open up again in the morning light. It's plant care day in our household and as usual I have my lovely assistant Winter helping me. I bring each plant into the kitchen and closely look at them, remove any dead leaves and make sure they are doing ok, I was doing this when I noticed that my Prayer Plant is flowering! I'm so glad to see her in flower! I've had this plant for about ten years and it has never flowered before! Last year I took a cutting from it because I wanted a Prayer Plant in my bedroom. Both plants are thriving, but the original has beautiful tiny white flowers. Anyway, my quality control assistant, Winter is happy with the state of this plant, she's just not so sure about me! ๐Ÿ˜น Lotsa love your friend Tree ๐Ÿ’œ xx #maranataleuconeura #prayerplant #prayerplantsofinstagram #prayerplants #houseplants #houseplantsofinstagram #houseplantclub #houseplantlove #houseplantcommunity #houseplantcare #plantwitch #plants #plantsofinstagram #planttherapy #plantlover #celticwitchcraft #celtichedgewitchcraft #celticwitch #celticpagan #celtichedgewitch #greenwitch #hedgewitch #hedgewitchery #hedgewitchcraft #neopaganism #newwitcheswelcome #newwitchtips

Irish Soda Bread Recipe: early morning bread making for Beltaine. We will make an offering of some of this bread to our Deities and the Good Folk and Nature Spirits, but the rest is for our Beltaine picnic. Recipe: *4 1/4 cups of plain flour (all purpose flour) *1 1/2 TSP baking soda (bicarbonate soda) *1 TSP sea salt *1 TSP sugar *2 TBSP white vinegar *2 cups milk *Preheat oven to 400F (200C) 160C fan. *Add 2 TBSP white vinegar to a jug and add enough milk to equal 2 cups of liquid. Let sit to sour while you prepare the dry ingredients. *Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Whisk thoroughly. Make a well in the centre and pour in the soured milk. Mix with a fork until the dough comes together. *Lightly flour your work surface. Gently knead bread and shape into a ball. *Cut the dough in half and shape. Cut an 'X' into the top of the bread. I also cut symbols into the bread, for example, a pentagram. Cut whatever symbols you like for your intentions. *Bake for 35 minutes. I like to have Dandelion Pesto with my Irish Soda Bread, but it's lovely with butter, jam or use to make sandwiches or to dip in your soup. Enjoy! Good morning friends! As Beltaine approaches and the first days of summer are born The Witch Tree Garden is full of young tender glossy leaves in every shade of green. The fertile Oak King is blessing the land! There is a joy in watching it all unfold. Each turn of the Wheel offers it's unique gifts each time, no two Summers unfold the same, the variety is endless. I'm so happy to share this great concert of life with you; of all the possibilities, we are here together at the same time and for that I am grateful. I had better crack on, there's much to do today in preparation for Beltaine and it's also round two of the painters and decorators. Thank you for sharing the journey, this long pleasant stroll through the Garden Earth. I hope you have a blessed day with time to smell the flowers. The blessings of Belenus to you! Dandelion Pesto : I decided to make a Dandelion Pesto to eat with our traditional homemade Beltaine Irish soda bread. I don't follow a recipe as such, I just eyeball measurements to my own personal taste. Anyhow, here's how I make the pesto: 1) Pick and wash some Dandelion leaves. Air dry the leaves on a drainer. 2) Finely chop your Dandelion leaves and put them in a pestle and mortar. 3) I like to crush the Dandelion leaves in a pestle and mortar because I can use hand gestures to trace symbols and add my intentions to the Dandelion paste, but you can use a blender if you have one. 4) Put your Dandelion paste into a bowl. Use a coffee grinder to grind some pine nuts, I didn't have any pine nuts so I used pistachio nuts (use whatever nuts you have) Stir the nuts into the Dandelion paste. If you have a nut allergy just don't add any nuts, just omit this step. 5) Add crushed garlic. Add a splash of lemon juice, add a splash of olive oil and add a pinch of salt. Combine all the ingredients together. 6) Store the Dandelion Pesto in a clean container. I'm using a jar with a lid that I have sterilised with boiling water. Store the Dandelion Pesto in the fridge. Use within three to five days. Dandelions are a diuretic. Please check compatibility with your Doctor if you are taking water medication before you consume Dandelions. Dandelions promote liver health and are an anti-inflammatory. Packed with vitamins, A,B,C, E and K as well as full of minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium and an excellent source of fibre, they are extremely nutritious! They are a potent antioxidant and may aid in blood sugar regulation. Dandelion helps to regulate blood pressure and reduces cholesterol. I use Dandelions in my practice to attract the Good Folk, (I love to commune with the Good Folk at Beltaine) Dandelion helps to improve psychic abilities and can aid in divination. Dandelion is connected to Hekate and therefore to the Underworld so will aid in communing with the deceased and summoning Spirits. At Beltaine I like to call upon all of my Irish Ancestors N.B. if you are allergic to Ragweed do not consume Dandelion as you will likely be allergic to it.

Early morning reading by candlelight, I love these brass candle sticks that I recently purchased from Suzie at @theluckymagpiesalvage . Thank you so much Suzie, I always find something in your shop that calls to me! Hugs lovely ๐Ÿ’œ โœจxx Brass is a self cleaning material, it kills bacteria and germs! It's self cleansing nature makes it perfect for use in magickal tools such as cauldrons, candle holders, chalices etc. I'm currently rereading my very old copy of Doreen Valiente's 'Witchcraft For Tomorrow'. Whilst I remember most things about the Craft, as I've drifted into my Crone years I'm finding I forget bits and bobs so it's always good to refresh the memory. This book is indispensable! If you want to learn more about the Craft this is the book to buy, I'm sure you will be able to find old copies for sale online or in second hand book shops. Have you ever read this book? Have a lovely day ahead, magickal and peaceful! I spotted this wooden box lined with gorgeous marbled paper amongst the many beautiful wares Victoria has for sale at @stonetablevintage . Every witch knows you can't have too many pretty boxes, jars or bottles. So I treat myself to this box, it's self care people, self care! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰ Victoria always has a steady supply of vintage and antique items perfect for use in my practice. Thank you so much Victoria, the box arrived so quickly and looks at home with my books and curios. Thank you also for the gorgeous Good Folk card and your lovely message ๐Ÿ’œ Lizzie, my daughter, has taken ownership of your card to frame and put up in her room! Good morning folks! I was up with the dawn chorus this morning. I've been out to feed the birds and noticed a lot of plants in the Witch Tree Garden that have self seeded, brought into the garden by wildlife or on the breeze. I don't see these plants as weeds, to me they are beautiful valuable plants and they have their place in a cultivated garden. They are an important early Spring food source for insects and pollinators which are a gardeners friend! Also, I harvest these so called weeds and wildflowers to use in my Craft and in the kitchen. This is a small selection of some of these plants that I encourage to grow amongst the vegetables and flowers, chickweed, wild violets, yarrow, tansy, daisies, dandelions, lily of the valley, white bluebells and meadowsweet. I will post more in-depth about each of the wild plants growing in the Witch Tree Garden and their properties and uses over the coming weeks. Have a wonderful day ahead and let yourself stay a little wild! Winter and I were houseplant watering and carrying out a health inspection this morning. Well I was, Winter was indulging her water obsession and sitting right up there on the sink playing with the water and having a great old time! She just loves to be in the middle of any activity. My Oxalis plants are flowering at the minute so I gave them an extra feed of my homemade fertiliser. They have such delicate pretty flowers that last a fair time. This Oxalis in the photograph is over thirty years old. I've split the bulbs and made new plants several times, giving the new plants away to friends. It's good from time to time to split and repot or replant bulbs. Oxalis is from the Shamrock family and is light reactive, closing it's triangular leaves at night. It likes to be in bright light and the soil kept moist. It's a resilient plant and very hard to kill. A great houseplant for those with not much time or inclination. Have a great weekend Friends, Lotsa love Tree ๐Ÿ’œ xx #caturday #cats #catsandhouseplants #whitecat #whitepersiancat #houseplants #oxalis #lightreactive #greenwitch #plants #witch #plantwitch #celticwitchcraft #celtichedgewitchcraft #celtichedgewitch #celticwitch #hedgewitch #neopaganism #happycaturday

Last night Lizzie and I attended a Tasseography (Tea Leaf Reading) Workshop held by Kirsty Celik, Psychic Medium, and graciously hosted by Suzie at Lucky Magpie Salvage. We had a fantastic time! As someone who links directly to Spirit I initially found it difficult to find my groove and not just go directly to Spirit and actually utilise the tools of the tea leaves and the teacup. The more I followed Kirsty's instructions the easier it became to trust my intuition in interpreting what I was seeing in the teacup. Kirsty split us up into pairs and I did a reading for my partner and she did one for me. My partner actually saw my name in the teacup! I had never met this lady before and her reading was so accurate. Lizzie was a natural and gave an accurate reading for her partner, but that's no surprise to me. My Great Great Grandmother Urania Lee (commonly known as Gypsy Rose Lee) read the tea leaves of Queen Victoria, regularly attending the Palace to do so. Lizzie's cup is the bright orange one and mine is the peach and gold one, what do you see? Have you ever tried Tasseography as a method of divination or have you ever had your tea leaves read?
