I admit to being confused by the distinctions, but doing keyword searches for 2024 showed me plenty of goth girls, e-girls, and cyber punk styles. Purple hair stays in style. It's a classic. Prim and proper meticulously pruned bangs on gothy women is still a provocative, darkly sensual look. Always and ever insecure, I want something both timeless and trendy enough to be fashionable. For me it's always a mix. I can never decide on braids or dreads, so inevitably it's always both. Even if I start out wanting a more uniform style, I always add to it. Altar de Beltane Este año he conseguido más variedad de flores, aunque no hay ninguna rosa. A las ofrendas del huerto le he añadido espinacas, que el año pasado no puse, y en vez de hacer un circulo con margaritas he usado mi corona de flores. Yo llevé en su lugar una diadema de flores secas. También usé tres velas en vez de dos, porque ahora somos uno más en la familia, nuestra gatita Zarza, y Beltane es una fiesta de fertilidad, unión y crecimiento. I have added spinach to the garden offerings, which I didn't add last year, and instead of making a circle with daisies I have used my flower crown. I wore a headband of dried flowers instead. My Beltane didn't go as expected... 🌺 This photo isn't even from this week, because any photos would have been of Travis and I snuggled on the couch while he battled a cold, and I battled not catching it. 🌺 ((Yes, I'm aware and he pointed out that cuddling probably was not the best way to avoid sickness, but it was Beltane, damn it!)) 🌺 The picnic in the woods....nope The frolicking in the forest...nah The weaving of wildflowers in my hair while sipping May wine...none of it. 🌺 But besides watching a lot of Battlestar Galactica and finishing the ACOTAR series, we still did something special. 🌺 We talked, we dreamed, we fought, and we repaired. 🌺 We did a fertility ritual I created for Beltane in 2020, but had never been in the right place to invite in the results. 🌺 My heart cracked wide open, and I let him in deeper than ever before (into my heart, get your mind out of the gutter 😉) 🌺 We built resilience in our love, so we could face 11 hours of traveling then working a game without time for a proper meal yesterday and come out of it not hating each other, but speaking even more honestly and vulnerably than usual. 🌺 Yes, it's beautiful to craft rituals for the holidays. To celebrate them in fun, festive ways. 🌺 But it's more important to remember the why. 🌺 Beltane is for love and abundance and sensuality and new life. 🌺 And it's not over! Durante il focus su questo chakra, mi sono ritrovata a canticchiare molto: un ottimo modo per bilanciare Vissudha. Questo chakra governa il rapporto con le vibrazioni e la risonanza. È dal centro della gola che si produce il suono attraverso la vibrazione. Per questo motivo è incredibilmente sensibile all'energia vibrazionale e alla risonanza di ogni tipo. La musica e il suono possono essere utilizzati in modo estremamente efficace per equilibrare questo chakra. Il chakra della gola porta le energie della verità, dell'integrità, dell'onestà e della comunicazione. Governa anche la capacità di ascoltare, sia le parole degli altri sia il proprio dialogo interno al corpo. Per Vissudha è fondamentale l'espressione di sé attraverso la parola e la creatività. L'abbondanza è una delle mie intenzioni, sposata con questo quinto chakra. Osservare la natura in azione mi ha fornito una sorta di epifania sull'abbondanza. La legge naturale prevede che si prenda solo ciò che serve per vivere quotidianamente, confidando che ci sia abbondanza di ciò che serve per il domani. Le società indigene hanno vissuto in questa saggezza per millenni. A volte cadiamo nella trappola culturale molto occidentale di pensare che l'abbondanza significhi "più (e più e più) " - e dimentico la semplice pratica di dire grazie per quello che ho. Vedendo poi cosa significhi più e più e più, per esempio di pioggia, di cui è vero che c'è molto ma molto bisogno, ma quando poi è troppa, sono disastri. Quindi a volte davvero è necessario ringraziare per ciò che si ha. Come affermazione del pensiero positivo, mi piace questa preghiera : Grazie per il vento e la pioggia, ma grazie anche per il sole. Today is the Witches’ New Year - Samhain - All Hallows - the third and final Harvest of the agricultural year. Long ago, any crops still in the field during this time were considered taboo, and were left as offerings to the Nature spirits. Villagers brought harvest food and sacrificed animals to share a communal dinner around huge sacred bonfires lit by the Druids (or ‘bone-fires’, as the bones of the slaughtered cattle had been cast upon the flames as offerings for healthy and plentiful livestock in the New Year). Fortunes were told, and costumes (usually animal heads and skins) were worn. Stones were marked with peoples names and thrown into the fire, to be retrieved in the morning. While cleaning my attic, I found this #mandala which probably hails from my early 20s. There are two comet-like (or eye-like) hands, open palms that hold stigmata of sorts. The right hand is white with a black stigma, whereas the left hand is black with a white stigma. The ideal unity of #Baphomet - the balance between the #lefthandpath and the #righthandpath - is thereby syncretized with #taijitu (yin-yang symbol) and #Ouroboros - a symbol for cyclical history. Three years ago today, I was writing “The Witching Year,” which led me to Edinburgh to see the Beltane Fire Festival. Pictures don’t even come close to doing this event justice. I had never, ever, ever, ever in my life seen a group of people in public doing something so openly pagan without fear. Not everyone there was a witch, or identified as any flavor of neopagan, but that’s precisely why it was so impactful. I was in an ocean of 2000 (? at least?) people who simply wanted to see something old, revived; a transmutation of ancient traditions; a rebirth of indigenous celtic values into modern times. This was the event where I realized that identifying with neopaganism didn’t have to rest on astrology or my third eye or belief in superstition. It had to do with community. I had just never seen community like this before. I didn’t know it existed. I didn’t know it could look this normal.
