The Old Gods never died. They cannot, because they are innate to who we are as humans. They are the singularities within which the forces of the universe are focused and concentrated. And those same forces flow through us. Birth, life, death, renewal, repeat. Odin is etched into our marrow. Freya blazes in our hearts. All of the Old Ones live with each breath we take. This teaching has had a detrimental effect on the spiritual health of millions. But the Old Ones are rising once more as those whose blood and bone resonate with their energies are awakened by Thought and Memory. Poco sappiamo di come si svolgesse tradizionalmente il Dísablót. È probabile che il rito fosse ufficiato da una donna la quale, come ci racconta Snorri, aspargeva un altare di sangue mentre i re sedevano a bere e altre donne scaldavano e ungevano le effigi degli dei. Adamo da Brema parla di un rito che si teneva a Uppsala e che durava nove giorni durante i quali, ogni giorno, venivano compiuti nove sacrifici. Ovviamente, trattandosi di una festa, non mancavano grandi bevute e banchetti. Oggi il Dísablót è la ricorrenza durante la quale onoriamo le nostre antenate ma anche le dee o gli spiriti femminili a noi più vicini. Possiamo farlo attraverso diversi generi di offerte, rivolti alla natura o più direttamente agli spiriti stessi, come cibo, nutrimento per le piante, il canto, la musica ecc ecc.
